maybe he's waiting for other people to take the plunge and head out of the volcano first. maybe he's just observing how they're all dealing with the various rules and regulatory robots. either way, he's just sitting there without expression... toggling the button of his modulator on and off, watching everyone blink in and out of their new human disguises.
and for anyone viewing the world through their own modulator, he hardly looks any different at all. the only changes are that his one eye no longer has any glow to it, and his shabby modern clothes are now shabby archaic ones. either way, he still kind of looks like a hobo.]

VOLCANO | Action
there had been a disbelieving scoff when the displays had informed him of the name of this planet, but that's the last sound he's made. it seems everything after that point has worked together to put him into a brooding silence. he watches every display, absorbs the details and follows along, and he even outfits himself with one of the modulators. but he's busy in his own head about things, keeping his opinions--for once--to himself.
it's easy to tell when he's finally beginning to come out of his little mood, however. it begins with him... looking in a mirror. that always cheers him up.
so, that's what he's up to now. standing around his ship, he's admiring himself in a hand mirror. the modulators have spared his clothing from any changes, since he looks halfway like some medieval noble anyway, but his hair is a natural shade of black, and his eyes are an average, pale blue. even his skin tone has warmed up to human standards.

[Otherwise, he is going to be found either helping out around town with non-dangerous jobs, or hanging out in the marketplace.
[Specifically, he'll be eyeing a very, very pretty dagger with ornate graving at a blacksmith's. It's expensive. He's set himself the goal of using only money he gets while he's here to get it.
[As for clothing, he's been changed into peasant garb. This makes him a lot less assuming when he's trying to make some coin yanking carrots out of the ground.]

COUNTRYSIDE/TOWN basically everywhere | action
[The first thing he does is leave the city. Test the limits of how far he can go and taking in the sights as he travels. His home is desolate, cursed with a surplus of sand and limited water. Forests, while not new, are unusual and the flowers in the countryside display an array he's never before seen.
He documents them all, easily found sitting in the wildflowers, pressing flowers between the pages of a leather-bound journal. It's an act of preservation but it's not enough. Just the first step. He takes the next in the river, half his clothes on the banks as he wades as deep as he can, delighting in the sensation of the current sweeping by. It excites him enough to call out random passerbys with exclamations of joy, some typical ("Come on in! The water's warm!") while others are bit more obvious ("It's wet!").
It's enough to make the locals steer clear of him, though, when asked, they agree that he's likely harmless. Just a little cracked in the head.]
b. now it's time to bring it around town
[In town, he's a bit more diverse. There are more things to do, more things to study and though he prefers the outdoors, he can't resist the appeal. With a wrinkled nose, he stays far from the sparring and plays, sticking close to the temples. He sits in them for long hours, studying the embellishments, religious practices and general theology. But even he needs a break. He takes them in the city's festival, taking advantage of his drab peasant appearance to ask for every dance the peasants know. Even the fire-dancers. He might have gotten a few burns from that.]

Actually, it's a bit strange to her too, to be far away from town but to still see flowers and grass growing, to see the land alive like this, where normally the land outside of a god's territory would be dead, barren. ]

Volcano / Town / Spoopy haunted ruins
[The entryway to the Red Fish is down... and inside, it sounds like something exciting is happening. There's the scream of metal on metal, various clanking sounds, the occasional weird smell wafting out the door - smells of hot metal and rubber.
If anyone decides to poke their head inside, it looks like Hange is utterly concentrating on putting some kind of weird frame together. Frame and troughs. Every so often she stops and shakes at the whole thing to make sure it's secure.
... though she happens to glance up at any observers, and grins at them.]

Town.
[With her disguise module going, Hange merely looks like a tall peasant woman in a buttondown shirt and long skirt. She seems utterly comfortable dressed this way, and she's criss-crossing the market...
Looking at weaponry. She picks up swords here and there, tries their balance, discards them or glances up to memorize the location of the place. She's not really trained to use swords like these, but they're the best option yet to replace the weaponry left behind in her own world.
She's got a pretty good memory for faces, though she doesn't directly talk to anyone, so other fleet members that she notices get an interested once-over and a nod, to be friendly.
Eventually she stops at a tavern with tables set up outside, too, and orders a tall mug of beer and some soup. This world feels homey to her. It's not quite right... but still.]
Ruins.
[Once a sword that satisfies her is found, she makes her way outside the town. Word of those ruins... haunted? Hah. She'll see. She doesn't especially believe it, but a visit might prove interesting, so with a bag of some basic necessities (food, first aid things, notebook and pencils, water) slung over her back, and her sword at her side, Hange strides out of town to see what the burial mound has to offer.
Whistling cheerfully, she certainly looks like she knows where she's going...]

[ She listened to what they had to say about the planet, and passed the test, etc. ... and yet, she's still hanging back at the volcano, looking mildly disturbed. There could be some clues to Atroma, important goods to trade or sell, jobs to take ...
But this just seems wrong, doesn't it? It's the castle brainwashed villagers without all of the magic.
And so, she continues to hesitate ... ]
B. FOREST
[ She eventually does leave the volcano to enter Mor, but aside from a stop for food, she goes straight through and out, for now. Instead of interacting with the poor people of the city, she wanders off into the forest alone with a picnic basket.
If she missed nothing else on the ships, it was the fresh air and the outdoors. So she's sitting against a tree, eyes closed ... maybe she's napping? ]

[Kirian is no stranger to all of this. He spared everyone the confused network post, made cursory introductions to his crew, and when they landed, he was gone exploring. He didn't need his cane most days, and could often be found at the training green, venting a bit of frustration with a practice sword. Of all of the insults, this place had to make him human.
Venting with a sword and a dummy wasn't perfect, but as far as he figured, nothing in this life ever was, no matter how clearly it seemed to be.]

[He also detests questing. He wasn't the adventurous sort, save for his past and recent exploits, but he takes a few quests that he can find. He hates mundane tasks like picking flowers and delivering them for medicine. These are not elves, they are humans, and as such he holds no desire to help them in the least.
But, without a sword (and obtaining one was the purpose of this), there was little he could do but wander the countryside and curse to himself in Thalassian as he gathered what he hoped were poisonous herbs.
The humans could choke on them, for all he cared.]

[Robin's oddly quiet since they got to the planet. Not chatting people up as usual, he's instead chosen to hole himself up out of the way. As night, he can frequently be found in the local taverns, having a drink at the edge of the room and watching other people talk.
Funny, he's not usually the spectator in these things, but... Maybe something's on his mind?]

[On some days, Robin can be found in the temples. Likewise, he sits to the side, contemplatively looking up at the statues of gods he doesn't recognize and listening to hymns that are foreign to him.
At times, he seems so distant that you could probably startle him if you were quiet enough. Sitting on a bench, leaning on a pillar, hands folded loosely in his lap.]

[Manolo has never been outside his tiny town in his life (well, unless you count when he was dead, but that still makes the previous statement true). He wanders around, wide eyed, leaving no stall unexplored. He probably looks the most touristy-tourist that ever did tourist. He spends his most time around the musical instruments, occasionally picking up one of the stringed instruments and playing a little tune.]

[As soon as he heard about the ruins, Manolo left his touristing to head right up there. If there are ghosts, that means there's a link to his patron death god. It's a long shot, but if she knows he's here...maybe she can find a way to get him out. He heads up to the first 'ghost' he sees.]

[His hand passes through, and the hologram fizzles. ]

[ And she is not impressed. Merrill has left. [Just those three words. No emotion, just a statement of fact. ]
Around the city
[Fenris can be seen all around Dirkwall. The name and feel of the place should make him happy, to finally have some familiarity again after so long. It doesn't, though. The people, forced to live in blissful servitude, for the entertainment of others, simply because they don't know any better gets right under his skin.
So, he's been taking jobs, to earn enough money to buy a sword and fix the mess this planet is. People might catch him murdering a next of spiders, or running off to get a flower with red petals and blue thorns. Questing! ]

But spiders are easy, even when they're huge, just about as big as she is. So, their first in person interaction is going to be when she bursts out of the woods tangled up with one of the spiders, it's legs kicking and fangs trying to bite at her as she wrestles it to the ground. She's got some spider gunk on her, her fists are bloody and there may or may not be some webbing in her hair, but despite appearances she seems quite fine. When she spots him, she takes a break from her punching and grins at him.]

Town
[While the city was plentiful with opportunities and distractions, Felix's mind settled on one very particular goal - replace this atrocious garb with something closer to his style. But since his funds were still rather small and clothing very very expensive, he opts to try a few menial jobs.
For most of the week, during the day, he can be found wandering the fields and edges of the forest, gathering potion ingredients for a local so-called alchemist. Usually this means picking specific wildflowers and plants, or scrounging the ground for feathers and stones. He might even be caught contemplating the lower branches of a tree, where a bird's nest is nestled, or awkwardly attempting to climb up to get it.
Basically, it's pretty demeaning and he tries to avoid being seen by anyone from the fleet. But it's not a perfect world.]
Marketplace & Tavern - later in the week
[With a few more coin in hand, Felix can't help but do a little casual window-shopping. This is probably why Mildmay always handled the finances. He has trouble helping himself. But as it happens, amid the chaos and tempting smells of real food, he finds himself in an occult shop. He doesn't require much for paraphernalia, but he does start to pick out a few useful items like ink, parchment, and chalk. Which is when the cards catch his eye.
He picks it up and turns to the shopkeep with a blinding smile and an inner thrum of excitement]
I beg your pardon? Do you have any books about the use of these?
[Later, he can be found in a tavern seated at a table with a mostly ignored drink nearby, staring at small volume at one hand while his hands flicker back and forth between the pages at the large divining deck at his other hand]

[Jennifer had barely had time to adjust to her new ship before they were landing on this new planet. She lingered for a moment on the Wonderduck's offramp before following the crowd to hear about the planet and its rules and regulations.
The innoculations caught her eyes and ears, so before heading out herself, Jennifer stopped to make sure nobody was having trouble vaccinating themselves.]

[Jennifer had no money thus far, so she figured there wasn't much of a point in going to the taverns or shops around the village. Hearing other people talk about an odd jobs board, she drifted over to it, figuring she may as well make her stay worth her while and earn a little money, since she wasn't sure she'd be earning much while back in space.
However, she pulled a face at some of the jobs offered.]

[Allen's of two minds about this place. On one hand, he's really not sure how to feel about making all these people live in the dark for the sake of entertainment. It didn't seem quite right to him. On the other hand...most of the people seemed alright with their lives. He's not exactly sure what exposing them to the truth of things would do to them. So...he decides to remain quiet about it. He doesn't even bother with fighting the illusion- it's kinda nice not to be stared at by townspeople for once for his scar and weird hair. [If you don't check the marketplace, you might have luck in the Training Area. Because hey, it's nice to have a spot to train that comes with weapons to use instead of just a treadmill. He's currently doing sword practice on a dummy, oddly again using a two-handed sword with one hand. He definitely seems to be quite skilled, though not quite to the level of master swordsmen. He wouldn't be adverse to a spar, if asked.]

Malak is patient, quiet, as they explain what to do. And then when he gets his hands on the tools, he does it, better than they did.
It's not long before the blacksmiths have gathered around him. Malak is teaching them a better method of folding metal, to distribute carbon among iron, to forge stronger and more flexible steel. It turns out, he realizes, that the methods known on the Spinward Islands were actually quite effective - and somewhat advanced.
Eventually, he also goes out to the marketplace, wandering in slowly growing unease. The forge was one thing: there, he was distracted by the familiarity and by the joy of it. Here, he's starting to realize how boxed in these people are. What those rules really mean. ]

for anyone who knows him well enough, this is a bit-- actually, very unlike him. whenever the fleet touched down on a planet, he was usually among those that were excitedly exploring, trying to get a feel for the new environment that they were dropped off in.
and he was, at first! the volcano had all but freaked him out, but discovering that it was an illusion had him starry-eyed in seconds. but as soon as they were forced to watch the video? well, he's instantly gone silent. there's a frown etched on his face and his jaw is tensed. his hands are balled up into fists, practically shaking from how tight they are.
he doesn't follow everyone else out of the volcano. instead, he hangs back, eyes to the ground and looking very tense, as though he's trying REALLY hard not to punch the nearest object or person.
all of this. it's just like what happened back home. ]

Temples, Jobs
[Shirley doesn't often pray to Nerifes these days given their history and relationship, but she is a Ferines and she does feel she owes it right now. The continued presence of her eres even where they ought not to work anymore is a constant and comforting reminder of home, and though she may not understand why the blessings work all the way out here she wants to thank Nerifes all the same. She'll be here every week or so, offering prayer and thinking of home.]

The artificial environment does put her off slightly, but the people's problems are real and with how things are on the Huntress right now the ship could use some cheer. [Being in the volcano, fake as the effects are, kinda remind him of home, what with the whole lava and burning inside of a cavern sort of thing they have going on here. There's less screaming though. That's almost a disappointment, but hey, it means he doesn't have to energy ball people. Mostly, he's just people watching, hanging around off to the side and seeing new and familiar faces all the same, but he isn't his normal upbeat self. He's still in a bit of a mood.]

There's also a point where he's looking at weapons, testing out a few longswords and daggers of varying lengths and styles to see what he likes the feel of most.
