[Ringo is looking despondently at the swords nearby. But instead of investigating the long two-handed swords she seems pretty focused on leaner, one handed blades. She has her arms crossed and sighs a bit. She doesn't want these stupid swords, she wants that sword that he-- Ugh, a disgusted look crosses her face and she raises her hands to muss up her own hair a bit. Lawdy, when did she turn into such a sentimental sap? Her little physical outburst isn't exactly subtle, but she doesn't seem embarrassed as she lowers her hands and decisively turns away from the swords that she was looking at.

And, who happens to catch her eye? She squints a bit... He looks different, but similar enough so that Ringo thinks... yeah, he's from the fleet, isn't he? The exorcist guy. She walks over to get a better look at him before she decides it's totally him, and approaches at more of a normal pace, waving]

Hey. You're... Allen-san, right?

[save_the_souls]

Hm?

[He turns his eyes away from the sword he was holding when he hears her approach. Oh right, it's that girl from the network]

Ah, that's right. And you're...Ringo, right?

Yeah. [she nods, and kind of awkwardly stares at his sword]

That thing is huge. Can you really swing that around with just one hand? [after all, she just saw him do it, to an extent, but she imagines it's a whole other thing to actually do that in battle]

[save_the_souls]

Mhm!

[He checks to make sure no one is nearby before giving a twirl of the sword]

I've fought with a weapon like this for a long time.

I figured you'd have...

[she was about to say like... a giant cross that he hit people with. But that sounds dumb so she redacts her own statement]

I dunno, magic spells or something. Do all exorcists use swords?

[He gives a little laugh]

Not all of them, no. I actually usually use claws when I do exorcism work...but they take a lot of energy, so I'd rather use normal weapons if I can!

That makes sense.

[she crosses her arms and looks around at the other sword available]

Find any that you like?

[save_the_souls]

[He worries his lip a little]

Not yet. But I'm probably being too picky from missing my old sword.

[transferedfate]

[she shrugs]

Aren't swords pretty important if you're relying on them to keep you safe? I think it makes sense to be picky.

[save_the_souls]

Ah. That's a good point. I'll keep being picky then.

[He sets the sword down on the table and smiles at her]

What were you looking for?

[she looks a bit huffy at the question... Not at him, but at herself]

I don't know, it's dumb.

[...] I was thinking about getting a sword. But it's stupid, I barely even know how to use a sword.

It's not stupid.

It's not like a master swordsmen are born knowing how to wield one. And if you want something to protect yourself, a sword is a good choice if you're wiling to take the time to learn it.

But if I was being smart about it, I should pick a weapon that plays to my strengths. A gun would probably be more efficient. [although the thought of actually pointing a gun at someone still freaks her out]

And honestly, I don't even want a new sword. I just want the sword that I had before I was taken here. [the one Ed made for her, even if she never really learned how to use it]

More efficient, but also much more deadly. It's difficult not to cause lethal blows with a gun. [Something...to keep in mind]

You had a sword? [Color him surprised] But I thought you said you were a civilian.

[transferedfate]

[it's something she's acutely aware of, and something she's been grappling with for months. Sentimentality and morals versus weakness. She still doesn't know what the right answer is. So instead she replies to his second statement]

It... was a gift. Like I said, I never learned how to use it. [she sighs] I didn't think I'd leave that place any time soon, so I wasn't in a hurry. I just never found a teacher who didn't leave.

[That...sounds like a familiar story to him. The whole problem of not leaving, when the teachers did keep leaving]

Were you in some place like this before?

[she nods. and while she looks gloomy talking about it, she doesn't put up visible signs that it makes her uncomfortable]

It was a ruined city called Haven. As far as I know, I'm the only one here who's been there.

Haven...

[He frowns and shakes his head]

I'm sorry, I haven't heard of it. But I was at a place called Paradisa for some time.

[transferedfate]

Oh. [and she automatically assumes the worst of Paradisa. Her face hardens, but in a sympathetic way]

I'm sorry you had to go through that too. What was it like?

[save_the_souls]

[He gives a half shrug at her apology. Honestly, his feelings of Paradisa are mixed. He hated the place, but he couldn't deny that in many ways...it changed his life for the better]

It was a place that fed on people's emotions. So...you could never be sure if it'd be nice or cruel.

But I met a lot of friends there. Some that are in the fleet now. So...there was that!

So this fleet... took a few people from that place? [she feels a little tug of hope, but then reminds herself that's a dumb thing to hope for. It would be stupid if any more Haven people showed up, pointless]

Weird. I wonder why.

[save_the_souls]

I'm not sure. Maybe they thought it'd make for better ratings?

[transferedfate]

I guess.

[she sighs] So you said that place fed on your emotions? There were no shadowy figures in charge?

[save_the_souls]

Not really, unless you counted the castle...but no one ever knew exactly what it was thinking. Things just...happened.

[transferedfate]

Creepy. [....] Sorry, we can stop talking about it. There's probably no point in stewing in the past.
