It is. Most cities I've been to were built where there was water, thriving plants, animals... It feels like they should take advantage of all that's here.

[ So judgmental, for a child. ]

A bit of space to enjoy it as it is...I guess that's alright too.
noctiphile: (laura don't look at me)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-11 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
They can do that without it being included, though. Unless there's an outlying threat, there's no reason for their countryside to be walled off by the confines of a city. What we're looking at is a sign of peace.

[He bobs his head.] And luck.

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-11 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
When their population grows and they need more room to live, it's worth having that space. If they don't have it, that's when things get annoying.

[ Sighs. ]

I suppose you're right, after all. They are lucky.
noctiphile: (laura don't look at me)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-12 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
At least we can agree on that.

[He smiles, wading his way back to the banks and to her.] Do you mind if I sit with you? I'd like to know more about your cities. If that's alright, of course.
amarant: (daffodil)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-13 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, certainly.

[ She doesn't really move aside or anything-- he can sit wherever he wants, and she doesn't really care about getting her clothes wet. ]

Where to start...I suppose the most important thing about them is the god that lives beneath each city.
noctiphile: (gpoy when someone catches this pb)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-13 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Beneath each one?

[He sits beside her, careful to keep a healthy distance while still remaining close.]

How many cities are there?
amarant: (bellflower)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-13 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Many, many cities.

[ Most of which she's never been to, or tried to count. ]

There's a god under every one of them, they keep the plants alive and water flowing. And then outside the cities, there's nothing that can thrive. So they've always built where the god's power reaches.
noctiphile: (rub your head for friction)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-13 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
And I assume the cities are protected by walls?

[Now, everything makes sense.]

I can see why you were so adamant. [He says it without judgment, just slight amusement.] Do you think that's what's happening here? That there's a god beneath where we're sitting?
amarant: (marigold)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-14 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Some were, others just let the god's power spread where it would.

At the very least, they used whatever resources were available in the land that was affected. If they hadn't, it would've been idiotic.

[ She's so judgmental, wow. ]

But this place... I can't tell.
noctiphile: (pic#8836104)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-15 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[He leans back, tilting his head towards her.]

How can you tell if the land is affected?
amarant: (cypress)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-15 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It has grass, or trees, other plants...if anything can live there, it's the god's land. I've never known of anyone who lived outside it.
noctiphile: (he wants to dance like uma thurman)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-16 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
So it looks just like this. That doesn't help.

[He sighs, falling back into the grass.] Perhaps it was meant to remain a mystery. A chance to enjoy nature's beauty as it is, so to speak.
amarant: (olive)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-16 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe if I kept walking, I'd find the place where it all stops.

I wonder, how far would that be?
noctiphile: (yaoi manga icon)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-16 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
No matter the distance, it'd be a lonely walk for certain.

[He folds his arms behind his head, smiling at her.]

Perhaps you'd accept some company.
amarant: (cypress)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-16 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you wouldn't mind?

[ She has some trouble remembering what she's told people, so he might just see her as a normal young girl. ]

It'd certainly be more pleasant...safer too.
noctiphile: (laura don't look at me)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-17 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[He laughs lightly, propping himself up.]

Flattered as I am that you apparently enjoy my company, I can't vouch for my skills at protection. We may be no safer than if you were alone. Conversation, though, that I can offer. Conversation and questions.

[Slumping back into the grass, he closes his eyes as a breeze rushes by.] It'd be nice to see the end of the world.
amarant: (olive)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-18 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Conversation isn't bad either. In fact, almost as good as protection.

[ Looking kind of off into the distance. ]

And getting to see the end of the world might be even better.
noctiphile: (make way)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-18 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Then it sounds like we have a proper tripped planned. Who's bringing the food?
amarant: (bellflower)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-19 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have any, but I have money...what do you like?
noctiphile: (rub your head for friction)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-19 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Everything. [He chuckles.] I'm simple.

[He waves a hand.] But you don't have to get me anything. I was joking. Mostly. I will dine on our conversation.
amarant: (olive)

[personal profile] amarant 2015-03-20 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
If we find fruit, we can eat that.

Unless you only need conversation to live?
noctiphile: (laura don't look at me)

[personal profile] noctiphile 2015-03-22 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
[He laughs.]

I think if I were able to do that, I'd be quite happy.

[Shaking his head now.] No, fruit sounds fine. And I suppose I can afford to purchase some small meats and cheese.
