how are you all dealing with the ever-so-educational volcano? have you played around with the visual toggle on those collars yet? aren't they cool? aren't these peasant clothes rad? if you haven't had a decent meal since Abeo, maybe you could afford some of that authentic farm-raised meat they have here. historical!

[yes, yes. good. he seems comfortable walking through the crowd of people today. maybe it's because his modulator makes him look normal. or maybe it's because he's still got face paint on underneath the modulator.

he takes her to what looks like a blacksmith's shop--they don't have to go far. he stops her at the window. points at what is undeniably a very finely crafted crossbow. it looks pretty. and expensive.]

[NODS. he seems... excited. maybe this is why he's in a good mood.]

[Whacks him on the shoulder]

What, your gun isn't good enough for you?

[theboogieman]

[after leaning with the hit, he shakes his head. dare I say it, enthusiastically.]

[Oh, dear. This is a serious case of the wants, isn't it? She contemplates.]

But you don't have enough money. Correct?

[theboogieman]

[nodding, yes. she's got it exactly. his money from all that drama a couple of months ago ran out, and this thing is not in his budget.]

... You're gonna owe me.

[Maybe they can split it between them... because she still wants to get some swords before they leave... at least two.]

[...he stops being excited to stare at her. surprised? uncomprehending?

she can't possibly be saying...]

[She stares back at him]

... You did want me to help you out buying this thing, yes?

[theboogieman]

[he's not sure how he feels about that--good or bad--but he knows that it wasn't actually his intention, so he signs in response:]

'Just showing you.'

[aberrant_type]

[Oh. Hmm, she shrugs.]

If you want to get it, I'll see if I can make up the difference.

[She's not hurting for money, after all...]

...

[looks at her. looks at the crossbow. ...looks back at her. signs:]

'I'll say in one week.'

There's jobs to take around here. You might see if the proprietor has a task for you that'd lead him to knock the price down.

[She whacks him on the shoulder]

A week.

[he takes the hit, as usual. signs something right back at her.]

'Good that I'm dressed for it.'

[She laughs and drops into signing abruptly in return, spelling what she has to and signing what she can.]

No buying expensive formal clothes.

[theboogieman]

[oh, tricky words. he might not know how to sign 'formal' even if he looked it up, so he spells it back.]

'Only an expensive formal crossbow. I'll get busy.'

[She chuckles again. Ah, she understands being thirsty for pricey weaponry though.]

You want to get lunch?

[Yeah, invite him to spend money just as he makes this big saving goal...]

[...he did just say he wanted to buy this thing, but lunch sounds good... so he ends up nodding anyway.]

[She waves for him to come on, and sets off. She saw taverns with tables set outside... nice to eat a meal under the open air... not that long but they're reaching the district where foods are being hawked again]

[and he continues the trend of being a chatterbox today--insomuch as Zhas can ever be considered talkative. he signs at her, darting ahead so that she can see.]

'Food here is pretty good. Maybe we can get ingredients too? Things that keep well...'

[She's amused, but all that shows is a slight smile, her face mostly relaxed, comfortable. He is pretty chatty compared to the usual, right now. There's something about it that's a little cute to her. She hums, and then signs back, taking her time.]

Good idea. There are a lot of supplies we can get here. Useful. [She, for one, is excited to have swords at hand again... even if they're not the blades she's used to.]

[which leads him to ask--]

'What were you looking at? Weapons?'

I want a sword. Better two. [Or more. Well... these might not snap like the titan-killing blades, but who knows what could happen?

And then out loud:]

Ah, over here. [And she points to a bustling place with space at one of their long outside tables, with an awning set over the whole thing for shade. It's easy to wade through the hustle and claim a spot. Hange raises a hand for an attendant.]

[Zhas follows obediently, sits down next to her without being asked. he will let her do the driving. he is busy thinking about those swords.]

'Hard to find something in that style here.'
