[It sure is a lovely ~~day~~ actually pretty much indeterminate time period out here in the vast darkness of space, isn't it? I bet everyone's enjoying themselves, getting a chance to get off their dinky little ship and stretch their legs. Even on this shitty, empty little waystation.

Where are you, droot flooters? What are you up to? Stay out of trouble, now.]

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! It should hopefully be a nice low-pressure way to do some action tagging with each other.

Please tag in if you feel so inclined! Don't be shy to tag around!]

[That white hair stands out like a banner. Rin is browsing the stores herself, and glances over sideways once she sees Cecil... then makes a decision and makes her way over.]

That's a nice find. I didn't know you smoked.

[She looks older than Cecil more remember, gaunter in the face, no baby fat left, and she doesn't smile so easily. She looks worn out, all in all... but clean and well enough in spite of that.]

[ Cecil is visibly surprised to hear the voice and when she whirls around to see the girl it belongs to, she gasps a little and puts down her bag of purchases in favor of pulling her into a tight hug. She notices the differences and it begs the question: how long ago was Court for her? ]

Rin... It's good to see you again.

[There's a moment where she tenses in surprise at the sudden affection, before she reminds herself that it's Cecil and she can relax, and embraces the older woman back. She's warier of affection, this girl, but needier of it too.

Muffled a bit by the hug:]

It's good to see you too. You're looking well... [And it's true: Cecil is.]

[ She does look more radiant now and actually genuinely happy. In Court, Cecil often wore a mask that made her look happy, but she rarely ever truly was. She can't even remember most of the few memories she has of the moments where she was sincerely happy in Court, unbeknownst to her.

Cecil pulls back a little after some time, just enough to look at the younger woman. She rests a hand on her cheek, much like a mother or an older sister would affectionately fuss over someone she feels protective of. ]

And you... you've gotten older.

It's more like I got younger, and then got old again...

[She smiles with a small amount of humor, and lets the contact happen. It gives her a weird skin-prickling feeling all over, not unpleasant but just intense awareness of where she's being touched. What an intimate gesture... she doesn't move away, but her head lowers a little.]

You look very well. It's good to see you face to face again.

I'm happy to see you in the flesh too.

[ Cecil smiles warmly at Rin and finally lowers her hand from her face to rest it on the other woman's shoulder. She inclines her head to the side curiously when she explains her situation a little, confused, but very interested in the details. ]

What do you mean?

You remember Court, don't you? [She pauses a little. She used to be so, so secretive about this, but what was even the point...? There doesn't seem to be much of one now.] Well, I remember Court too, but I also remember before that. I've crossed through different worlds a bunch of times...

Before that...? But you... you didn't remember them while you were at Court?

[ The concept of timelines being messed around across universes isn't so shocking to Cecil, since it did happen to her a couple times in Court, but it happening for a longer period for Rin? That does still strike her as strange. ]

Were you actually aged down in Court?

I'm not sure... [Her gaze remains cast down, though it darkens a little. Thinking about all this, the logistics of her mindfuck, bothers her. How DID it all work?]

It's like I started fresh then. Maybe I was younger if that's what you mean. But now I'm back... to remembering. [And she's not sure that's good either, though she feels a weird protectiveness for her younger self. Being that fresh and bright is still clear in her mind now.]

[ Cecil raises a hand again and this time comfortingly strokes back Rin's hair. She can sense the distress from her and it causes her own confusion to ebb, her attention returning to what matters now. ]

All right. It's probably best not to think too hard about it. How are you doing now?

It's all right... [She blinks at the touch and actually pulls away a little from pure surprise. Rin never expects that kind of easy affection from people, even if she dishes it out - then realizes how her withdrawal might have come across and colors a bit, glancing away.]

I'm sorry, you surprised me - it's all right, anyway. It's... something I've thought about.

[ Oho, Cecil is a little inwardly relieved to see that Rin is still able to be flustered and cute despite her older age and apparent emotional hardening. It means her heart hasn't changed all that much from the way Cecil knew it. She's still a soft-hearted, good soul. Cecil had worried about that... ]

It's fine, it's fine... Are you settling on the ship all right?

I'm glad that Robin's there... and my other crewmates seem nice, but - I wish there was another woman! [She sighs after a moment. :<] It's all right, though... at least you're here, and so are some other girls... what about you? How's your ship?

[ She can't help chuckling quietly behind a hand that Rin's major complaint is that she's the only woman on her ship. It's the same for Cecil too, but she's kind of used to being outnumbered by men to a degree. ]

It's fine, if a little empty. It seems a couple of our crewmates have already been sent home. It's just Kaneis and I now, I think.

[It's not that she's unused to it... but she sure is kind of tired of it. :<]

Really? That's so little... you two must have lots of space to yourselves then.

[A

PAUSE.]

Such as it is I mean.

[ She completely understands the hesitation. ]

Well, I wouldn't mind having more of a crew again.

Do you think you could go onto another ship? Maybe you could just switch over.

I probably could, yes, but I can't just leave Kaneis by himself.

[ Unless she could convince him to transfer too... Hmm... He might like the fact that it's just the two of them though. ]

He's a bit... anti-social.

Well... maybe you should ask him to come along, then. I mean, you have to take care of yourself...

[ She gives Rin a little smile, a bit touched by her concern. ]

I just might, but I'm all right. It's not the first time I've had to survive by myself. You don't need to worry.

Mm...

I'm glad to see you again, Cecil.

I heard you the first time.

[ She gently teases her. She's not so sure if it's concern for her anymore that has Rin speaking like this. Is it something else? Something she remembers now? ]

I'm still glad to see you again too.

If you want to talk, you know I'm always here.

[Just she's usually struck for a loop entering a new world. Everything is reminded of being tenuous, as usual, including the people she cares about and the connections she's made. Rin rubs at her chin absentmindedly.]

Mm... thank you. You'll help me look after Robin too, right?

Of course I will. Has something... happened?

[lol]

He just doesn't take care of himself like he should...
