[It sure is a lovely ~~day~~ actually pretty much indeterminate time period out here in the vast darkness of space, isn't it? I bet everyone's enjoying themselves, getting a chance to get off their dinky little ship and stretch their legs. Even on this shitty, empty little waystation.

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! It should hopefully be a nice low-pressure way to do some action tagging with each other.

[His glance at her is somewhat startled, but after a blink and a brief paused, he tilted his head and smiled]

[He doesn't seem as skeptical as the question might indicate, and he's already idly opening one of the packs, his eyes still on Emblica]

Yes, but what do you need it for?

[ Her power is limited here, so causing property damage won't really work. ]

[He can probably cause his own property damage if he really wanted to, but that's not what he needs right now.

Fishing out a cigarette, he holds it out towards her.]

[ A bit of concentrating, aaaand poof. It's a small flame, but she'll hold it out for him. ]

[Interesting. He pauses for a moment before leaning down to light the cigarette, inhaling and leaning away before he exhales, his eyes still on Emblica]

So this is the magic you were telling me about?

Yes, although I don't need to draw on the power of the gods to do so.

If I did, I wouldn't have been able to do this. So it's a bit different.

Then where does it come from?

Inside of me. When I was born, it was said that the god under our village fell asleep for a moment, and let go of his control over his magic, so I've always had too much, enough that I didn't need any more.

Have you tried getting rid of some of it?

I try, but it's like a drop of water to a river.

[ Not to mention it's weirdly exhausting, using it. ]

It's constant.

Even rivers run dry eventually.

[There wasn't much else to say about that. Casually, he took a drag from his cigarette]

So how are you holding up here so far?

It...sometimes is difficult, but I'm not unhappy being here.

Is it hard for you, to be away from your god?

[ She'd be happy for the lack of intrusion, but if he's used to it... ]

Not really. [He shrugs]

[ It's not the answer she expected, to be honest. ]

Why not?

Because I like it here. [He pauses, looking around at the sad little park] I mean...in the physical. Around people.

[ She can kind of sympathize with that, actually. ]

I think I understand what you mean.

Do you? [He crosses his arms in a silent invitation to explain]

It's nice...to have something in front of you to listen to. To have it be someone, instead of a voice.

Probably why humans were so into the idea of prophets. The message coming from a man rather than a voice in your head. Especially one of their own kind. I tried the messenger thing once. Didn't really take...

Could they tell you weren't like them?

[He laughs] That's why it didn't take.

They're surprisingly perceptive, sometimes.
