[It sure is a lovely day actually pretty much indeterminate time period out here in the vast darkness of space, isn't it? I bet everyone's enjoying themselves, getting a chance to get off their dinky little ship and stretch their legs. Even on this shitty, empty little waystation.

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! It should hopefully be a nice low-pressure way to do some action tagging with each other.

[ Which is about when she actually does wake up and start panicking.

It's not visible in her expression, but in the fact that the vegetable has sort of started growing roots. One of which wraps around his leg.

Thanks for helping, I'm sure he won't regret that. ]

[yeah, he wants to go home now. space really sucks.

he yelps in fear and goes scrambling, trying to kick it off of himself]

[ Luckily it only stays for a few seconds before the root lets go, and the vegetable shrinks down to its normal size.

If it's any consolation, she sounds almost as scared as he looks. ]

Oh no. Oh no, I'm so sorry.

[ HOW DO YOU EVEN MAKE PEACE WITH SOMEONE AFTER THIS. ]

I didn't mean to, are you okay?

[it is some consolation, as his brain struggles through its unexpected round of fight-or-flight. seeing that he's not still under attack is a good thing.

he scrabbles until he's at least sitting upright, brushing at his leg to make sure there's really nothing left there. it's going to take him a minute to actually calm down, but he's trying]

Y-yeah... I'm okay, I think...

[ Ends up just dropping everything, although she doesn't actually touch him, knowing that's not exactly the best course of action at the moment. ]

I am so, so sorry. It just surprised me, and then I didn't even think, and--

[ Cuts herself off. ]

Is there anything I can do to help?

[he throws up a fast smile in defense and holds up his hands a little]

It's okay! D-don't worry...

[he then makes sure to move slowly and clearly--he doesn't know how easy she is to startle--to point toward the root vegetable]

I was just giving that back to you. I didn't mean to scare you...

No, no, it's fine, I...I shouldn't have expected that no one would be around.

[ ITT: two people being really awkward about a vegetable. ]

[ Hurriedly shoves said vegetable back with the rest. ]

It's nothing specialized, I'm good with plants.

[ Like she is trying to comfort him. ]

[it's strangely not working very well. he's looking more nervous, now.]

[this is not quite so scary of a thought, which mostly just leaves him even more conflicted over this whole thing]

Yes, I don't think it would be difficult.

I wouldn't mind.

[ It shouldn't take too much out of her, so she manages to turn it from a kind of dull brown to a livelier orange color. ]

If you understand the inner structure of it, it's very easy.

[ She's pleased with the interest in her talent, definitely. ]

There's a lot I can't do, though. Especially on the ships.

[despite the earlier altercation, he's looking pretty fascinated now]

I'm good with plants. I've read a lot about them.

[ Shrugs, lightly. ]

I don't understand anything about the ships or how they work, so there isn't much that I can do.

So, will you be able to do things with the ships after you learn about them a little bit?
