[ he leans in to kiss her cheek, feeling a swell of pride. he's done a lot of pretty amazing things the past couple years but this? this feels like his greatest accomplishment. after everything they've been through, all the odds that have been stacked up against them becoming the people they are and even meeting, for them to be here now, together, happy...it's nothing short of amazing. ]

[It's a lot to hear she deserves to be happy. All the hardship she's been through. All the people she's lost. The guilt she's felt for surviving. The compromises and hard choices she's made to save lives. She's gone through so much of her life just wanting to help or to at least avoid harm and here is the man she loves telling her she deserves something as simple and as vital as happiness and when he says it she can even believe it at least for the moment. She could practically cry. Good tears. She holds him tighter and smiles at the second thing he says because that fills her with so many good feelings too. That's exactly what she wants to do for him.]

I hope you can say that to me again in forty years. [Because she wants to spend their lives together. She doesn't want to get separated by the Atroma or wardens or any other mysterious powers that be. And she wants to keep bringing him to new levels of happy even after they've been together that long. She never thinks anything will be all good, but there is so much good in being with Winn and she never wants to forget that or give him reasons to hurt.]

[ he's spent a lot of his life being told he has more than he deserves, too long. kitty has made a point out of bringing him up, and he wants to return the favor because she deserves it - she does.

right now, he's cursing himself for not getting that ring done. could he get a more perfect opening to asking her to spend those forty years with him, and however long they live past them, too? maybe he should just do it - be romantic and spontaneous - the ring is almost done! but he wants that moment when he asks her to marry him to be so perfect so desperately...and without a ring it just doesn't feel like what she deserves. ]

Is that an age joke cuz you know you'll be 61 then, at that point 9 years aren't that much of a difference - [ he panicked and ruined it, didn't he. ]

[She's not sure if that reply is just playful teasing or if there is a measure of discomfort in the topic for him. Maybe he's not ready to be hearing things about marriage as often as it comes up. She can back off. She does want to spend her life with him, but she doesn't need to push. They have time. She hopes they have time. And just the fact being with him gives her that hope is something.]

Mature men are so sensitive. [She'll just play along. She doesn't feel much of a difference now. They feel right for each other. Can age really be the biggest issue when they're also not from the same world?]

Just my show clothes - we ran into each other at the store and she picked stuff out for me. It was kinda fun.

[ no really, he's dying to get out of these pants they're not the most comfortable thing in the world to have on, especially after a long day and after having taken them off once already - his legs tasted freedom! only to be caged once more. ]

[She giggles and loops an arm through his as she leads him to a wall for an easy exit.] Somewhere with a big, soft bed and a bathtub or shower or hot tub built for two. [Bathroom play isn't really her favorite thing but considering they can never really do it in the fleet, she's pretty into it when they do get the chance. Same with kitchens and living rooms whenever they get those actually.]

[ as tired as he is just hanging out in the tub together, talking and kissing, sounds pretty perfect to him. ]

We should get to the shuttle - [ this asteroid is too rich for his blood at the moment anything like that is going to cost more than he's willing to pay around here. ]

The shuttle? [She smiles through the confusion.] Is this the money thing? I got it. No worries. [As much as she doesn't want to equate their sex life or romance with money, she's also pretty sure what they just did will pay her back for whatever she's about to spend.] My treat.

Are you sure? Rooms are stupid expensive here -

[ and as much as he loves being taken care of, he still feels guilty not to be contributing. he's sure she'll think it's worth it when he takes her shopping for their wedding rings but for now...he's amazingly touched, though, that she just trusts him with his secret reason for needing money. ]

I'm sure. It's just money. [Still not all that important to her even though she understands it turns into things that can be beneficial, but she'd rather use it than save it. At least that has been her general rule of thumb. Always updating the Twin Roses or the Windrose before it. Always buying as much food as they can take on without it spoiling before use. Always happy to get rooms to have nice experiences with her guy.]

Okay - then lead the way -

[ he squeezes her hand. if he manages to recover from the ring shopping by then (he's hopeful, he's gathering a very impressive sum here) he'll take care of rooms in their next system. ]

[She's not keeping track or score. She knows Winn likes being with her and that's all that matters. If they can't pay then they are together somewhere else. If they can then they have options. No one is to blame or is winning or anything like that.]

Yes, love. [She kisses him again and leads him to a district she knows has places for rent. She may have done some research into this already honestly.] How good does a hot shower or bath for two sound?
