002 - Looks like a discoball and tastes like strawberries and dreams

[Fenris had a very unsettled night, sleep wasn't the cards after his run in with Cole. Eventually, he does leave his armory to find breakfast. He goes by way of the cargo hold (just to check the horrible little wretch isn't lurking there) but instead finds a gift basket with his name on. Fenris can't read the rest of what's on it, but the gift basket is full of condoms, lubes and other sundries that only naked people will really have use for. Emblazoned on everything is Madame Gertrude's Pleasure Barn. Not only has Fenris been given one, but any character who have decided to indulge in a little romance, up to and including flirting has been sent one. The Fleet has got itself a sponsor. For today, at least.

Fenris is well aware what these things are (thanks, Exisilium) so it's with a largely bemused expression that he turns on his communicator, pointing at the...gift. ]

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who has been given one of these today. I suppose Atroma expects us to be grateful? Though it is roughly as subtle as a brick to the face.

[That gets a small smile. After his time in Exsilium, child fighters are nothing new to him, so he isn't patronising in his tone when he replies.]

Is that so?

Monsters. People who wish to harm us and others. Dragons. Whatever decides to attack us on that day.

You get to fight dragons?

[Oh my god his eyes get so big.]

We fight monsters! Or, well-- they're gems, really, only they're kind of messed up in the head, so we fight them and then we bubble 'em and try to keep them safe and from hurting others, you know?

Hmmm. There are a lot of drakes and the like, we have luckily only encountered a small number of high dragons.

[He had a vaguely good grasp of that right up until-]

Wait. You bubble them?

[realhumanbeing]

Yeah!

[Always better to show than tell, though, right? Steven disappears for a moment. A littel grunt is heard, and then he reappears, shoe in hand.]

Hup!

[In one fluid movement, Steven tosses his shoe up and gestures. A small pop! is heard, and a bubblegum-pink bubble appears around the shoe.]

See? And then they're safe! Hey, what ship are you on?

[Well.

That sure looks like magic. ]

And you put...dangerous people in those? Can they even breathe? [Do you suffocate them slowly, small child? ]

[realhumanbeing]

Oh, yeah, they can! If they're corrupted like that, we can put em back in their gems and just bubble em! Except for me. Cuz I'm half-human. So I can't just disappear into my gem!

[Totally clear, right, Fenris? Though Steven can be excused for not clarifying; right now, he's staring out the window at The Tourist. Eyes narrowed, he focuses--

And then the bubble disappears! Only to reappear with a little pop next to Fenris.]

Haha, awesome! I didn't know if I could do that!

I...am not certain I understand how that works.

[How do you disappear into a stone? Oh but he has no time to really think on that because MAGIC IS HAPPENING by him and, welp, there is a shoe. A a little shoe. In a bubble.]

Yeah! It's how I send the gems to the home, I just wrap em up in that bubble and zip!

[A beat. He grins, so proud of himself-- but then his face falls.]

I, uh . . . I don't know how to get it back, though. Can we visit ships?

Oh, so you do not keep them contained on Earth.

[Wow, Steven, wow. ]

Perhaps you should have thought of that before you sent me your shoe.

Once you are free of the Marsavia, you may visit any ship you like.

Saturday is usually the day these things happen. So you needn't wait long.

I will keep it safe in the armory.

[In case someone wants to...steal a kid's single shoe.]

Yeah, it'll be really cool! You can show me elf stuff! And I can show you more gem junk!

I don't really...do 'elf stuff'.

Oh. Well, that's okay, I'm pretty used to fights and battles and junk.

I can well imagine. You do not seem the kind to shy away from such things.

Nah, man, it's my destiny! And I just started getting good at it, too, so if I stop now I'll get all rusty and useless!

Most of it is comprised of guns, which I have little use for. I fight with a sword.

Yeah, I don't either. I tried to learn swordfighting, but . . .

[He just wants to do cool moves and flips and throw his sword and have it stick in a wall with a loud thwaaaang.]

I'm better with a shield.

[That would probably result in broken bones with a greatsword, Fenris ponders. ]

Well, many warriors fight with a shield. They usually have a sword to accompany it, but I have a friend who could easily take down several bandits with only her shield.

[But Aveline is a walking mountain so...]
