Movie Night Bonanza - Semi-Closed
Who: Riona and frands
Broadcast: Nope
Action: On the Blue Fish
When: Throughout the month on January!
The last couple months have been an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. Lots of ups and downs, and Riona finds herself in need of a break. A way to just get her mind off of everything. And then she remembers she's promised a number of people a movie night. The solution comes together easily from there, and she sets up a series of movie nights with her friends.
Once they arrive, there's a small area set up with some chairs, blankets and of course a viewing platform to watch the movies. There'll also be food and drink, whatever they both decide on.
Riona's been amassing a collection from different planets since she got in the fleet, and now they have quite a variety of genres to choose from:
Rom-Coms and Romances: There's quite the range, from rather sappy romances to outright cringe-worthy flicks. There are a couple gems in the collection, but most are just overly cheesy or stupid. If nothing else, they're good for a laugh and making sarcastic commentary.
Action: Explosions! Guns! Chases! Scantily clad women for no discernible reason! These run the gamut from serious thinkpieces to unabashed blockbusters with nary a cohesive plot to be found. Again, there are a few decent ones in the mix but most are just for sheer entertainment.
Horror: Spooooooky~ Good for a scare... and maybe some laughs. Gore fests or psychological thrillers abound. This is the smallest collection she has, but there are enough to pick from!
Comedy: When a laugh is needed. From trash humor filled with fart jokes to more subtle humor, there's a bit of something for every brand of humor.
Animation: People actually draw all of this! This is by far the most varied of Riona's collection. There's cutesy kid stuff, adventure flicks, and even a few heartbreakers.
Musical: Riona's favorite. Theater in its truest form, but with singing!! And not the stuffy opera kind either. Almost as varied as the animated stuff, there's quite a range, from romping comedies, romances, to tragedies.
Drama: But of course. Angst, revelations, twists and betrayals. These movies take themselves the most seriously. Some are quite decent, but others are laughable at times. Also great for making fun of if you feel inclined.
So come on over, pick a genre, and settle in for some fun times.
((OOC: This is closed to Riona and her CR. Anyone she knows and has talked to is open to this! Just pick a genre and also a movie if you have one in mind! Outside the ones in the fleet archives, any movie would probably need to be tweaked a little in terms of details (i.e names, places, etc) as it would likely have come from another world. If you have any questions please let me know!))

action.
You know, some of these men don't seem to have that much to do with the abduction to begin with.
[And yet they're getting mowed down regardless.]

Ah. It seems that when you lose something you love those things don't matter.
[ She shifts, a little uncomfortable in her seat. At least the people she'd killed had actually been bad, right. ]

I suppose he wouldn't be in the mood to be reasonable, no.

[Though maybe in service of her own rescue? She hasn't been on screen for a while. Thor frowns at the screen.]
I feel for his situation, and yet I don't think he's thought this through.

[ Crossing her arms, she tilts her head. She thinks of the Ball, thinks of the Sentinels at the Temple of Mythal, and sighs. ]
He could have at least tried to have a plan.

[Thor leans forward a bit, watching the movie intensely. The protagonist, out of henchmen to kill, leaves the building and enlists the help of a computer technician. Thor blows out a breath and chuckles.]
There, now he's thinking it through more.

This really isn't how it works.

Well, no, of course not. These film things are absurd. This is actually one of the more sensible ones.

They made the terrible mistake of getting in his way. Poor sods.

[And there are bodies flying just everywhere.]
I am just concerned he might lose sight of his real purpose.
no subject
[Yes, they very much are. Including the one that's knocked upside the head with a crowbar that just happened to be lying around, and then shoved out the nearby window. RIP dude]
And there's the dilemma: does he or doesn't he? They've been hinting at it, with what little dialogue and plot there is in this thing.
no subject
[Thor knows a battle rage when he sees it. He takes a sip from his drink, considering.]
It would be a grave mistake - after all, his wife could die if he doesn't reach her in time. No vengeance is worth that.
no subject
[She was there, once upon a time. It's not a pretty place to be.]
One would think he'd do whatever it took to get there the fastest. I can see making some hard decisions to do so, but he's going a little too far.
no subject
[He's seen it in his father. In himself. It's an ugly thing to feel.]
If this is to be a tragedy, maybe that is the point.
no subject
I don't wish to spoil it, so I won't say, but you'll find out in enough time.
[Now the guy's on a boat, taking off towards an island.]
Ooooh, this is where things get really fun.

[This is what Thor considers a suitable use of a boat in a war.]
no subject
[In all fairness, there is a rammed boat or two in the scene that unfolds. But really, there's just a lot of gunfire and some gratuitous interpretation of the laws of physics, mainly when one boat hits a rock, goes sailing over the hero's boat and missing by inches, hits the water, flips over, and then proceeds to explode.]
no subject
That was absurd, but a great spectacle.
