January Goldstone Mingle
Who: Goldstone crew and visitors!
Broadcast: As desired
Action: The Goldstone

It's been a quiet, relaxing month for the Goldstone, which has both an upgraded lounge and a returned crew member. The fleet soon leaves Selvin-9 and its strange snow behind and starts to drift.

[Personally, Felix thought that the quaintness of the snowy planet diminished over time. True, it wasn't as horrifically cold as it would be normally, but there's a sameness to the landscape that wears thin. Plus, bitingly cold or not, the stickiness of the snow-melt was not at all enjoyable. He didn't care that it tasted like marshmallow. His planet didn't have such a thing.
Once casual shopping was dealt with, Felix turned his attention to finishing up the repairs on the Goldstone after their last battle.
Mostly this takes the form of him hovering about the cargo bay and giving orders to the locals he'd hired for the work in the most lazily possessive way possible]
B. Cards - Goldstone Lounge
[He's done his best to make something presentable of the Goldstone's lounge, such as it is, though the furnishing are even more mismatched and ramshackle than what he's been able to gather for his lounge. The improvements largely take the form of dark woven blankets he'd picked up on the last planet and draped over the couch and chairs to provide at least some cohesion in the decor.
Felix sits on the couch in front of the coffee table, back bent over it as he shuffles and lays out sets of cards with a look of concentration. It's clear not all of the cards are in use. To the side, a pale wooden box carved delicately with vines and flowers sits open on the table, which sits contains a large portion of the cards. Slightly larger than playing cards, they have the look of something very old, the edges creased and worn thin, the diamond pattern on the back that might once have been brilliant black and scarlet are more charcoal and sepia. The reverse sides, however, are covered with garish and rather morbid looking scenes that are still quite bright in comparison.
This isn't the same tarot deck he's been seen with for some time in the fleet. That crisp deck sits near his right, and from time to time he stops, rifles through that deck to find a particular card, then replaces it. He mumbles slightly to himself as he works, not paying overt attention to who might be coming or going]
C. Wildcard
[Have other ideas? Maybe run into him in the kitchen, tinkering in the engine room, lounging at Crowley's communication station, or using up all the hot water in the bathroom. Feel free to plot with me on Plurk @

Oh. You got another set.

I got an old set back, actually. The Sibylline. They were my loss back in Paradisa...did you know that?
no subject
[He generally didn't prod people about their losses, it was always such a personal matter. Like losing a piece of yourself. ]
Still, good to hear Atroma are still capable of doing something nice. Was this your little Christmas gift?
no subject
Yes. It's been years since I've had them, and the first step would be to reacquaint myself with the symbols.

OTA, visitors welcome too
[Mon-El found a cookbook on Selvin-9 while they were there and while it may not help tremendously moving forward to various systems with different stocks of food, he is going to take his time preparing some new dishes for the crew—and himself—while he still has ingredients to work with stored up. It should all look familiar to anyone who tried local cuisine. Some of it is probably more alien than other bits though Mon-El is always experiencing that through a lens of not being from the most common planet people are from anyway even if he did spend a few months on Earth before getting dropped in the fleet. Fear not, he's actually pretty good when he has a recipe to work with and his creations come out largely as pictured in the book and tasty.
Come try a pastry or watch him work with some marshmallow fluff or enjoy his slightly frilly apron. He'll even clean the kitchen when he's done.]

[since the crash and subsequent destruction of her prosthetic, Tempest has become somewhat more adept at one-handed functioning. At least, when it comes to important things like tea, sometimes food. In the time since, she's returned to her routine of daily tea trips, and especially the kind that take place late at night.
Growing used to things has made it so she spends more time out, at least, more comfortable than she was previously. She lingers in the kitchen the most, taking time to savor her tea rather than drinking it as quickly as possible. That doesn't mean she's in a better mood per say - when is she ever nowadays? - but her routines are starting to return to what they previously were]
b. additions;
[so maybe she couldn't resist the option to adopt a pet this time around . . . or two, since she couldn't choose between them. Which brings her total to three - and means her door, when she's in her room, is firmly closed to prevent escape.
But that doesn't mean she doesn't let the animals loose on the ship. Oh no, the cargo bay has become a frequent visit as of late, to give her otter and leopard space to run around. Occasionally, the lizard makes an appearance, too.
Tempest speaks to them both in Elvish, and you might even catch her attempting to teach any of the three some sort of trick . . . and spoiling them rotten no matter the outcome]
c. wildcard;
[other ideas are welcome! The kitchen and cargo bay are her haunts this month, though you can catch her almost anywhere save for the lab. ♥]

The otter scurries up to her shoulder to peer around her head to see who it is, too]

[Maggie was settling back in - yet again - fairly well now that she's transferred to the Goldstone. Being able to transition with ease made it easier to get back to work. Anyone looking for a doctor or anything so small as a bandaid would find her in the Medical Lab, drumming a pen stylus on a datapad, going through supplies and the like for the ship. She had missed a lot in her absence and wanted to pick up the slack now that she was First Mate again.]
Lounge
[A cup of coffee in hand, Maggie finds a minute to kick her feet up and enjoy. It was nice being among friends, new and old. Anyone passing through that wanted to strike up conversation could find her easily here, reading a book. When had she ever had time to read a book back home? It felt like ages. She was taking advantage of it but still keeping an ear out if anyone needed her for work-related reasons.]
medical lab
Which means his first stop is to see new and old crewmates. So when he sees Maggie back in her familiar haunt, he smiles and peeks his had in through the door. Saizou is at his feet, staring up at her as well.]
Settling in alright again?
no subject
Yeah, I'd say. It's nice getting to be around everyone again.
[Maggie looks down at Saizou and back to Okita as if to say 'yes you too, Saizou.']
How about you? I heard from Mon-El I missed a few things.
no subject
He's going to call it a small miracle and let it go at that.
Okita smiles as Saizou snorts and wanders into the lab to sniff at Maggie's foot, oblivious to his owner's feelings.]
Oh~ Nothing much. I gave Crowley-san a stuffed animal pig though. And he actually kept it. That was a surprise.
no subject
[But what does she know? She still felt like she was getting to know each member of the crew and sometimes people were full of surprises.]
Did I miss anything interesting while I was gone?
med lab
Do you ever stop? [ Not that he's one to talk. ]
no subject
No, not usually. If it wasn't doing work to help your dad or the Hilltop, I suppose it'd have to be this.
[As much as it kills her, not being pregnant anymore had its perks - no more exhausting herself too quickly.]
Hey, you.
[She leaves her datapad on the desk, moving in for a hug.]
I'd say I missed you but it feels like I just saw you not too long ago.
no subject
I mean, you're allowed to? What are you working on?
no subject
Mm. Was going through the med lab inventory, seeing how much needs ordering from the Marsiva - things like that.
[She pulls back after a moment, smiling and letting him go completely.]
I could use a break though so, thanks for coming.
[She gets a better look at him, noting the fact that he doesn't look much changed from home - perhaps there were differences between the two places but he was still 'Carl'. That was a comfort more than anything.]
Want to get a bite to eat in the kitchens?
no subject
Sure, sounds good.
no subject
So how about you - still up to the same work you did last time I was here?
