[Oooooh he's waited for this.

The second Sorey hears about legal hunting grounds, he's getting all his weapons and making a beeline right for it. He picks up a brochure along the way of the edible species and how to prepare them, even buys a few arrows in various team colors, and does his best to get lost in the woods for like six days. Don't look for him. He's having the time of his life.

「 Engineering - Geeking Out 」

[After his brief foray as a wild man, Sorey takes the time to sight-see, particularly where these awesome solar panel structures are located. He tries to wheedle his way into seeing some of their guts, though he seems perfectly happy to marvel at them, too.

If he sees anybody else gazing appreciatively he won't hesitate to strike up a conversation, pointing up at the towering glass structures.] Isn't this so cool? Integrating it with nature like this...! I love it!

[hey guess what, he doesn't need to look for this idiot boy, because he's right there beside him, perched in a tree just above where Sorey is creeping. All's quiet for a while as they wait, and wait, and wait...

....aha. Quietly he slides out of the tree, dissolving into light halfway down and zipping into Sorey's body to keep silent.]

See that? To your left, in the grass.

[monolike]

Yeah, [Sorey murmurs, not even surprised that a) Mikleo went looking for him and b) Mikleo found him. They kind of have a direct link to each other and all.

Sorey nocks an arrow as silently as possible, holding the bow low and down as he waits for the bipedal bird-thing to shift into a more favorable position as it pecks at the ground. He does grin a little, giving Mikleo a mental nudge in greeting. Figures.]

[The nudge is returned, though gently, to avoid distracting Sorey from his shot. If they were armatized he'd be the one aiming, but Sorey has plenty of skill on his own, so his only involvement is a ripple of tension passing through him when an opportune moment to fire is noticed.]

[monolike]

[Sorey's lifting his bow with that ripple, pulling in a breath to hold before he releases the arrow. Maybe Mikleo isn't helping, but he must feel the way Sorey's soul calms at the release in a way it never did before.

All those hours logged together made 'em more drift-compatible than ever, huh.

The arrow strikes true; the bird gives a startled squawk before staggering a few meters away and dropping down. Sorey doesn't waste any time getting over there to put the poor thing out of its misery before pulling out the arrow and checking the head. Still intact, nice. Time to clean up this bird.]

Come looking for me? [Sorey wonders aloud, tying a rope around the bird's legs. He'll bring it over to the river before trying to pluck and wash it. Maybe have some for dinner tonight, he brought a dry rub with him.]

[Mikleo orbs back out again now that the need for silence is over, crouching down to assist Sorey with the knots.]

I just happened to be in the area, so I thought I'd make sure you weren't getting into trouble.

[So maybe. Yes. Not really. Whatever, he's here now, isn't he?]

These are nice feathers... think we should save a few for Zaveid?

[monolike]

I was thinking so, yeah. [Sorey holds up his hand cupped in front of Mikleo in request.] I was thinking I could make him a new belt; the one he has is getting worn. Maybe I could make something thicker, we could put a real steady buckle on it, some feathers and some of those beads you found a couple stops ago...

[tsunergy]

[Mikleo acquiesces, pressing his palms over Sorey's and filling his hands with fresh water.]

Sounds like something he'd appreciate. I might just keep a few for myself, in case we need some in the future.

[He uses it to rub off some of the more matted blood from the prettier feathers, doing it again when Mikleo refills his hand. Just until they get over to the stream.] These colors would look really nice with that new tunic you've been working on, wouldn't they? They've got the silver in them like the thread and trim you're using.

[ Katara had paused in her shopping to just stare at one of the buildings - they were beautiful and strange. She glances back at that voice and - oh, Sorey, wasn't it? ]

Integrating what with nature?

[monolike]

Oh, Katara! [Sorey brightens when he spots her and waves a hand up at the towering glass buildings.] All of this! Those panels are what they call 'solar panels,' and they're collecting sunlight to use as energy. It's just really cool!

[His enthusiasm is contagious. She grins back.]

Wow, really? This whole city is powered by the sun? [She glances from him back toward the buildings.] I've never seen anything like this system before.

[monolike]

I know, it's really neat. [Sorey gestures to the towering tree buildings, pointing out certain structures.] We've seen houses like this before, where the homes were built right into the trees, and we've seen really advanced buildings, but not like this. Not where the species developed technology and made it work in harmony with nature.

[He is really loving this, and it's easy to see why.]

I'd love to learn more about how this works. Have you spoken with anyone and asked if they'd show you the conversion process?

[From sunlight to power? Because that's pretty cool.]

I haven't yet, but I was gonna. Did you wanna come with me?

Sure! [Katara is a big believer in asking to see if people will let her do stuff.

...and then in sneaking in to do stuff anyway if the reason why they say 'no' is dumb.

But mostly, they say yes, because she's got crazy innocent smile powers and she bets Sorey does too. This is a good chance to get to know him better outside of horrible death conversations, and Katara would like to get to know her fleetmates more.] Where to?

[Lmao right GOTTA GET IN THAT POSITIVE INTERACTION BEFORE THE NEXT CRISIS]

Hmm...well, I was thinking we could ask around some of the businesses, see if they'd be willing to give a tour. Maybe a factory or power station?

[aspearing]

[ She can't help but be amazed by it, as well - but there's something else that amazes her. She knew that ]

Were you able to tell how it was built just by looking at it?

[monolike]

Hmm...kind of. [Adopts the same pose as Alisha as he tries to figure out how to explain it.] It's almost like I'm reading a book at the same time as I'm looking at something. Like, I think I know what some of the parts are, but I don't remember learning it before.

[aspearing]

Still, it's amazing that you even know a little about how foriegn buildings like this were constructed.

What exactly did you mean by it being integrated with nature, though?

[monolike]

Well- [Sorey touches her elbow to guide her to look over at a tall building, slanted slightly on one side.] Those are all solar panels. They collect sunlight and turn it into energy.

[aspearing]

Collect sunlight...? When you put it like that, it almost sounds like magic.

[ It's a little silly to think of it like that, though. ]

[monolike]

Doesn't it? It's so amazing to think that real actual people came up with something like that, instead of seraphim. We mortals are pretty impressive, huh? [Elbows Alisha with a little grin.]

[aspearing]

It's amazing. [ She agrees. ] The potential that humans have when it comes to what we can do seems limitless. Though, I'm sure that we'll continue to see things that will remind of us of just that.

[monolike]

[There it is, that glowing light Alisha always has inside of her that makes Sorey feel so, so much better about what he is. Not that he hates being human, just...it's difficult, sometimes. Things get muddled.]

I was gonna go around and see if anybody would give me a tour. Did you wanna come with me?
