Waystation Mingle Log!
Who: GAME-WIDE MINGLE aka everyone
Broadcast: If you want
Action: The Stations!
When: From 04/05 through the month of April.
[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.
Make your own prompts, set up your own Virtual Realities, etc! For reference, the OOC post with info is over here!]

[She smiles, more genuine this time around.]
And at least I'm not alone.

[ She's poking at some kind of control panel now ]
So this is where you work, huh ...
no subject
Well, I'm not always in the captain's chair... yet.
[She uncurls herself of the chair and stands.]
Would you like to see my sickbay?
no subject
[ She's teasing, though, and moves to indicate she'll follow wherever Beverly wants to go ]
no subject
Just remember that not even all ships in my universe look like this. In fact, few of them do. Computer! Transfer location to Sickbay.
[As the program rearranges itself, Beverly looks at Ino and explains:]
The Enterprise has 42 decks and is over 640 meters long. This will save us a little time.
no subject
That's, like -- the size of a skyscraper!
no subject
Ships this size are constructed in space and aren't meant for landing on planets. We have shuttles and transporters for that.
[The sickbay coalesces around them and they find themselves right in Beverly's office, which is a little disconcerting. Nonetheless, Beverly tries to be a cheerful hostess, stepping around behind her desk and spreading her arms out.]
This is where I spend a lot of my time, doing the very unexciting job of paperwork. I much prefer to be in the research lab, though.
no subject
[ Still, she's still kind of awestruck ... She wishes their ships were even two stories ...
Anyways, she's looking around curiously ]
There must be a lot of people living here if it's that big ... so you must be pretty busy, huh?
no subject
[A flicker of sadness returns when she's reminded of Alyssa.]
Here, let me show you the rest of it!
[She leads Ino out of the office and around the corner. A large biobed sits in the middle of the room. Beverly taps a few controls nearby and brings up a glowing stasis field around the bed.]
This is where we do most surgeries. The force field can either serve as a quarantine or keep people in stasis if necessary.
no subject
Wow ...
I guess that's helpful to keep everything sterile ...

This is a medical tricorder, which is a scanning device that will read all your vital signs and help me analyze data and this is a hypospray - no more needles! Ah, this is a dermal regenerator. It will regrow the patient's skin almost instantaneously, which prevents scarring. And this! This is a cortical stimulator which - [She pauses at the look on Ino's face. Sheepishly, she says:] I'm sorry, this is probably a lot to take in at once.
no subject
It's okay! I mean -- it is, but it's awesome. Our hospitals at home are nothing like this.
[ She gestures to the last one she's got in her hand ]
Cortical stimulator? Probably ... helps with bone growth, right?
[ Seems like an educated guess, based on the name, anyways ... ]

[ Like poor Tadashi ... ]
I mean, I can take care of the majority of that stuff for my crew, but for the lab support that doesn't have powers or healing magic ...
no subject
It's particularly frustrating because I am certain the people who have brought us here have technology equivilent to or perhaps even better than this, but they're withholding it for entertainment's sake.
no subject
You think this thing would show the insides of these tools? Like, could one of our engineers come in here and take it apart and learn how to replicate it?
no subject
Hiro should be meeting me here later, I'll talk to him about it.
no subject
Oh, perfect! I hate to throw more work on him, but -- his brother is one of the people who could really use these ...
[ Tucks her hair behind her ear. Totally not thinking about how happy Tadashi would be if he could make them or use them .. ]
no subject
Oh, I'd be helping him, don't worry! Frankly, I need more projects to work on.

I know how that goes. Wesley would do the same thing... he'd get so focused on a particular project, it was as if nothing else existed.
no subject
Boys ...
no subject
I hate to break it to you, some of them never grow out of it.
