Waystation Mingle Log!
Who: GAME-WIDE MINGLE aka everyone
Broadcast: If you want
Action: The Stations!
When: From 04/05 through the month of April.
[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.
Make your own prompts, set up your own Virtual Realities, etc! For reference, the OOC post with info is over here!]

Hello! I don't believe we've met.
no subject
She takes a few more steps in, and fixes a smile on her face.
Headshake, nope, they haven't met. Have a wave, emo stranger.]
no subject
Well I'm not surprised, seeing as I've only been here two months. I'm Dr. Crusher.
no subject
Jinx.
[She takes a few more wandering steps in, and then starts just... touching things. Stroking consuls and wondering at sliding doors. Things were so... different here.]
no subject
This is the bridge of the starship I live on at home. The Enterprise. I can show you some of the other decks if you'd like.
no subject
Willingly enough to call them home? How did she survive without a consistent source of sweets? Inquiring minds want to know.
Instead of asking any of her burning questions, Jinx just nods. Yeah. Show her more strange emo lady.]
no subject
This ship is much bigger than the ships here, so to save some time we'll go directly to some of the more interesting rooms. Computer, show me Ten Forward.
[The bridge shimmers away, to be replaced by a futuristic-looking bar, with big picture windows showing Earth floating serenely in space.]
This is where we spend a lot of our leisure time.
[She crosses over to one of the windows and looks sadly out the window for a moment, before turning back to Jinx.]
Feel free to poke around. The replicators over there work, sort of. The VRD can't produce real food like replicators at home do, but at least you'll get to see how they function.
no subject
The various boozes behind the bar hold her interest for a long time, until she realizes that they're not what they seem to be. The simulator doesn't seem to have to power to produce actual food-related substances.
Eventually she wanders over to the emo lady and stands next to her.
So. What's up, lady? Jinx guesses you're kind of cool. Since you showed her a kind of interesting thing and all.]
no subject
Let's try engineering next, hmm? Computer, Main Engineering.
[The computer obeys, and they find themselves standing in front of the main warp engine of the Enterprise, gently pulsing and humming as if it really were running the ship.]
This is the warp core, which is what propels the ship, several times the speed of light. My knowledge of engineering is admittedly limited, but sometimes I find it comforting to come here and just listen to the engines.
no subject
After poking around a little bit, she decides the best way is to dive head first into the new experience. Hence why she phases herself right into the warp reactor.
Just for shits and giggles. Since the VDR is fake, it doesn't give her exactly the feeling of standing inside one of them, and that disappoints Jinx a little. It's still amusing, though, and she pops back out with a grin on her face.
You know the most interesting places, emo lady.]
no subject
Though, this gives her an idea, one she's surprised has never occurred to her before. Then again, she never had a reason before to use the holodeck to recreate the Enterprise, not when she was living on the real one. She grins back at Jinx before giving the appropriate instructions to the computer to carry out her plan. A minute later, they will find themselves standing on the hull of the Enterprise as the ship serenely orbits Earth. It's exhilaratingly disconcerting, as Beverly's senses are on full red alert, telling her there is no way she should be standing here, alive, without a space suit and gravity boots.
She turns to Jinx and extends her hands out to encompass, well, space.]
What do you think? We could see the rest of the solar system as well.
no subject
It's just so... vast. And sudden. And much.
There's so very much out there.
Jinx had never thought about the vastness of it before, and seeing it throws her. Of course, the fact that she shouldn't be able to breathe doesn't ever register.]
no subject
Oh, Jinx, I'm so, so sorry.
[She instinctively reaches out a comforting hand but stops just short of touching Jinx, unsure that it will actually help anything. Her hand hovers a long second or two before she lets it drop.]
I shouldn't have done that. I should have asked you first, told you what I was thinking of doing.
[Jinx had just looked so excited to explore and seemed so fearless, the way she phased right into the warp core. Beverly chides herself, But that's no excuse.]
no subject
Silly Jinx. She knew this place was fake, why did she do that? It hadn't even occurred to her even after she watched the program whisk them all over emo woman's ship.
Settling her game face on, she shrugged a little. No biggie. She hadn't freaked out. She's fiiiiiiine.]
'Sokay.
[That had been pretty cool though. She makes a little twisty face, lips moving side to side as she looks up towards the corners of the room. She still kind of wanted to see that...
Hmm...]
Go back?
no subject
Are you sure?
no subject
Yeah! Lets do this, emo lady. She's totally ready. All set. Lets go!
She can't let something as silly as space scare her. She's got stuff ahead of her!]
no subject
[Beverly still doesn't look totally certain about this, but she'll give it another shot.]
Computer, resume program.
[They find themselves standing on the hull of the Enterprise once again. Beverly waits for Jinx's reaction.]
no subject
[Jinx is ready this time, braced for it.
And it's beautiful. She stares around them in wonder, taking it all in. She'd never seen the like, never really imagined it existed this way. It was Beauty and Art.
After staring for a while, Jinx blamed her brightest smile towards the emo lady, and then tried an experimental hop.
Wouldn't it be cool of they could fly in this?]
no subject
Are you from Earth?
no subject
Yup. Earthy as Earth gets. Or. New Yorky as Earth gets, she supposes. It's the best place to be, after all.]
no subject
Can everyone on your Earth move through objects like you do?
no subject
No. No, they don't.
That would be an awful world, wouldn't it. They would have found ways to circumvent her, then.]
no subject
[She definitely would like to know more, but clearly getting Jinx to talk in anything other than a few monosyllables is about as fruitless of an endeavor as getting a Vulcan to laugh. She shrugs. Maybe another time.]
So, do you have a planet you want to see first? Mars? Jupiter maybe?
no subject
Pluto?
[What was all the fuss about? It didn't make any sense.]
no subject
Computer, take us to Pluto!
[The computer obliges, showing the stars and other planets whooshing by at mock-warp speed. In real life, of course, this would mean instant death, so Beverly is enjoying the simulation. The ship soon comes to a halt, and Pluto floats below them, looking tiny and desolate. Beverly has the computer "beam" them to the planet's surface, which, frankly, doesn't look any more exciting up close.]
