[At last, the day has come: Festival Day! Once again, the Starstrikers have taken the trophy this year. But that doesn't mean members of other teams, or those who didn't play, can't celebrate with the rest of them!

There are parties everywhere. Ribbons, streamers, and confetti litter every major street in the system. (Remember what they say about glitter...) There is food on every block, and people cramming into shops to get in on the merch.

Don't forget about the reason for the festival-- the pet adoption drive! A large playground-type area has been set up on the Starstrikers' desert moon where people can play and interact with the lovable creatures needing new homes. Whether you're looking for companionship or just something to do, there's plenty to coo over! Every pet comes with an info card listing a fanciful name and a general description of their age and temperament. Maybe Sir Pringle the puppy or Marquess Mariana the fish can become your new best friend.

Sadly, the Fleet will be drifting in about a week... but feel free to party until then!]

I mean a really good, great, master teacher! [He says with a grin as he's starting to get a bit too hot under his collar with her dancing so very close. Vash decides to give himself a small break by picking her up for another spin that he's hoping she might enjoy. By lifting her up off her feet and spinning the two of them around it gives him a bit more control and a chance to "catch his breath" before he sets her down again with a happy laugh.]

[She smiles along with him, enjoying the flow of things and not realizing the extent of thought going on inside him. Then again, she has some of her own, leading in the opposite direction.] Your teacher has a question for you then.

What! No one told me this dance would have a pop quiz! But, yes teacher? What question do you have for your lowly student? [Said with a laugh and a grin.]

[You are so not ready for this pop quiz. You definitely didn't study and it's possible you went to class naked.] Were we on a date when you asked me to go to The Space Bar with you?

[He was not ready for this pop quiz in the slightest. Vash actually stumbles in the dance and if he had been drinking he'd probably even do a spit take. Luckily he wasn't drinking!]

Ahhh--- well, I mean. WHAT? I can't hear you! The music! It's really loud!

[She brings a finger up to press lightly against his lips in hopes of hushing him.] Remy told me it was a plus one thing. [Withdrawing her finger.]

[DAMN YOU REMY!] Ah, oh--? Um... ahh-- [HE'S GOT IT!] Was it? Hahaha! Opps! I didn't realize that! [Good thing she's the only one he asked! And suddenly he can hear her again!]

[His hearing keeps going in and out. That's troubling. She leans in to do that lips to his ear thing again.] You should kiss me.

[What-- did she just-- Now he's questioning what he heard. His super human hearing tells him that he heard correctly, but the part that secretly hates himself can't believe it.

And then there was the other thing.] Haha, I think you've officially had too much to drink. [As much as he may want to kiss her, he won't do so when he thinks she's under the influence of a glitch, alcohol, or otherwise.]

Nope. I'm saying it because I'm drunk. I'm not thinking it because I'm drunk. [This is an important distinction!]

[Vash grins at that completely coherent statement.] Uh huh. Sure. How about we take a break and get a drink of water? [Because Vash is still pretty sure that if she was sober she wouldn't be interested in him.]

Hey! You can be a gentleman about this, but don't be a self-doubting fool! [Poking him in the chest.]

Eh!? [How easily he falls into his clueless idiot routine.] Self-doubting? And I think that's the first time I've been called a gentleman.

You know what I mean! You're a good guy. Too good! Why do you treat yourself like you're worthless?

[How did they go from kissing to lectures?]

Ahhhh... Um. [How does he answer that?] Is this a dance lesson? [Change the subject! That's how!]

[It's like you've never met Kitty Pryde. It's all kissing and lectures all the way down.]

Ugh! [Frustrated hand throw.] You aren't this oblivious!

[A couple people closest to them start to look over to see what the yelling is about.]

Um. Is this really the best time for this? [She's right. He's not that oblivious, but for once he is confused with how he got things to go so badly this quickly. Not that this was a new thing for Vash, but he's always a bit dumbfounded when it happens.]

[She makes another frustrated noise and walks away, not worrying about the crowded club because she's phasing through anyone on her way out. Unconcerned with the Starstriker fans that are understandably alarmed by it.

Outside the club it's quieter though the whole planet has erupted in celebration so real quiet isn't on the menu. Her dress isn't really the best for sitting so she just leans against one of the outer walls of the building. She doesn't love how that went either.]

[Vash laughs meekly at the people who turn to look at him. Clearly he's being a terrible boyfriend is the vibe among the people there. Good job you idiot. You ruined a fun night for Kitty and she probably could have used one.

He moves to follow Kitty out, but as he can't phase he can't really keep up with her so she'll have a few moments alone outside. Unless of course she moves if she doesn't want to be found.

Otherwise after a couple minutes Vash will be coming out to check on her.] Hey, you okay?

[She doesn't move away when he joins her, but she also doens't look over at him, just staring straight ahead. She sighs first.]

I could use a cigarette, but I gave up smoking a couple years ago so there's that. You?

I don't smoke. Those things give you cancer.

[He moves to lean up against the wall with her.] Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your night.

Funny. [She doesn't smile or laugh, but it does feel funny coming from an immortal to a girl who was supposed to die before 20 anyway. She does look over at him for the apology.]

Is it just that you're not into me, because if it's that we never have to talk about it again? I'm a huge mess with Winn and my past and everything. I yell in crowded rooms sometimes. That's not a drinking thing. I'm a former assassin and you're an over-the-top pacifist. So, being not into me is a lot smarter than the alternative anyway.

[What does he do? He's still not sure that it wasn't just the alcohol talking. Why would she be interested in him when she had someone like Winn before?]

No, that's not it. I mean, if I stopped talking to former assassins I wouldn't have any friends. So that's not an issue.

[He scratches at the back of his head.] I mean, if let's say that night at the bar was a date... how would you feel about that?

I feel like next time just don't pretend it's a date with you, me, and the whole crew or every woman in the fleet. [Since that was their "first date" after all. When he invited all the women to dinner and she was new and took him up on it because the food sucked and she had no money.]

Alright. That should-- [Wait. That wasn't an outright no. That wasn't that she would hate being on a date. That wasn't exactly a yes either, but it certainly wasn't a no.]

Wait. Does that mean that you wouldn't mind being asked on a date? [He's still trying to comprehend that anyone would be interested in dating him.]
