[ The movement in the distance catches his eye, but he doesn't worry about it. By the time it's clear someone's headed this way, he's still got plenty of time if it's a threat, and soon enough he's near enough to see the familiar face. ]

Might be. [ Lord knows if there's a chance, he prefers being in far off, quiet places. He nods at the huge bird, though, faintly amused. ]

Didn't run off with one of those though.

[ He'll stick to motorcycles, for sure. ]

_{[ Kirk laughed, petting the bird who seemed content to lean its head down and graze a bit as Kirk talked. ]}

It's a bit more stressful than riding a motorcycle, for sure, but it's relaxing in a way. I'm not brave enough to try and the flying aspect, so I thought I would give the ground version a try at least.

[ Hey, whatever. Daryl can't quite help thinking that it'd make a pretty solid dinner for a large family. ]

[ He huffs at the thought. ]

And are you? The type to get airsick, I mean? I haven't seen you being space-sick at least, or gravity sick. Or you've just been hiding it really well.

Nah. [ Not yet, anyway, but maybe he'll change his mind if they stay here too long. ] Not a fan of these air-boats, though.

Really? I think they're fun - kind of charming, actually.

_{[ He grunted and dismounted from his bird, patting the beast and letting it graze as he spoke with Daryl. He nodded down towards where the mist flowed, like ocean currents. ]}

You thinking about heading down in there?

[ Honestly Daryl can't think of any reason to. There're enough rumors about people getting sick, and really-- for what reward? Some kind of mythical treasure? Bull, he thinks. ]

I’ve already been down a couple of times. Not very deep, but into it. It’s... creepy to be sure.

_{[ He shrugged. ]}

I’ll probably go down deeper, but I want a partner to do so. Going down without a buddy seems like a very good way to never come back up.

[ Yeah, okay, they could get gas masks but still. ]

What's down there that's worth it?

[ He's curious. Not likely tempted, but you never know. There's been enough on top of these seasick floating isles to keep him busy, he hadn't bothered digging too much into what's going on below. ]

Maybe a lot, if you believe the stories about the treasure. Mostly I'm just curious - why it's there, what it's hiding. And I think, sometimes, when we come to places with mysteries like these, that maybe we can find something that might help us, or might help us make more sense of our situation.

Because if you ask me, the planets that are chosen? They aren't random.

Probably a ridiculous long shot, in all honesty, but I always think it's worth a honest go at it.

[ Because the more they know, the better equipped they'd be to fight back. No one wants that from their captives, he figures, so nothing can be trusted. ]

No, it never does. But we've been on planets before, where what I can only think are older versions of the Marsiva have crashed. We didn't learn much, but it did tell us that other ships like the Marsiva have existed, or do exist. And that's something. So, maybe there's something down there. By accident or design.

_{[ He looked down at the mist, watching it swirl. ]}

Treasure hasn't even been my thing either. Answers, though, I like those.

Answers are good. Just not sure it's worth breathin' that shit.

[ But at least that makes sense. More than chasing some story about glory and riches into a toxic dump. ]

Guess I'm getting used to it. Kinda.

[ That's actually pretty true. After the world ends, if you survive, you become adaptable pretty much by default. There's always some new godawful complication, it's not that different here. ]

It always is. I like living on ships - it's my job back home - but I definitely have more room to move.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I have some cards and a 3-D chess board in my cabin, if you ever want to change gears and kind of get out of your head. Have you spent much time on the Iskaulit? There's a gym and swimming pool there, and a dojo now too - run by Kogarasumaru. I actually could use another sparring partner, if you're up for it - ah, with martial arts, not swords.

Been by some, [ he nods. It's bigger, which makes it feel a little less weird. Plus it's a little more convenient, gathering everyone there. ]

Dunno martial arts, but we could spar.

[ He thinks he could hold his own anyway. ]

Heh, yeah, that's what I think too. I was thinking about putting out a notice, seeing if we could get some sort of sign up or rotation so people could have usual partners, or at least find someone. I don't want to lose my touch.

[ Keeping in fighting shape is always a good idea, if you ask him-- even before the world ended he's been the wary sort-- but as the security officer he's doubly approving. ]

We run into trouble a lot?

I don't know if you would be called trouble, but they can be dangerous. We've had a few where it's been outright hostile, but thankfully not to many.

No, I suppose not. I guess what I'm trying to say is we don't always go to places that are dangerous, but we hit enough of them that keeping up your skills is highly recommended.

[ At least, if he has to be stuck on a spaceship, he seems to be stuck with reasonably sensible people. That's a relief.
