[His head tilts curiously, before he gets it and snorts.]

[He hauls himself up on the bird's back and reaches down to help Kaname mount.]

I hope you're telling the truth... I'd feel very foolish otherwise.

[Despite her words, she is smiling. When he reaches down, she takes his hand without hesitating, even if a noise of surprise does escape her when she's moving upward to settle in.

Her arms quickly wrap around him from behind, possibly a little tighter than needed. Kaname can easily rest her chin on his shoulder from behind, so it's easy to see what's around them.]

What next?

Now just hold on and enjoy the ride!

[He rests one hand over hers and urges the big bird into motion. He adapted fairly quickly to riding chocobos back home, and like getting back on a bike, he had no trouble with these birds either. He keeps them at nice walking pace - easier on everyone, bird included.]

Almost makes me miss running all over the place back home.

[Once the pace is set, she releases her hold somewhat, though she continues to keep both arms around him.]

You mean on the chocobo, right? [He's been with her long enough he should be able to tell the smile in her voice if he can't see it.] I'm glad you came to get me for this.

[If he could nudge her without the threat of knocking her off the bird, he would. Instead he fake laughs - and then really laughs.]

Are you kidding? It has been my dream to show you a chocobo! A real one, not just a photo.

[The reply makes her feel a little fluttery inside, and she presses her lips to his cheek in thanks.]

You never told me that. But I'm happy we get the experience now. [Kaname ventures a movement, shifting one hand to grip his shoulder so she can sit back slightly and look around.]

It's a very pretty island, too.

Well, I didn't think we'd ever actually see one.

[No point in getting any hopes up for something that wasn't likely to happen. This was the most awesome of surprises.

He hums his agreement.]

Too bad about that mist ruining the aesthetic.

Mm, I don't mind the mist. I'm more focused on what's closer to us right now.

[Getting more used to the pace and walking pattern, she moves her other arm to pet the side of the bird as they go. She still grips his shoulder for support.]

But now I want to know what else you'd like to do with me. I didn't know you thought about stuff like that.

[He can't help it. "...what else you'd like to do with me." He snickers.

Give him a second.

[Kaname finishes petting the bird and places her arm around his midsection again. His snickering makes her realize what's going on, and she huffs a little in a mix of amusement and exasperation. His side gets a poke.]

Anything like that you can mention to me later, since you know exactly what I meant.

Sorry! [Not sorry.]

Seriously, though. I'm not really sure. We're probably never going to see the stuff I'd want to show you. Like, my favorite restaurant, or the park with the bridge. I'd like to go driving! But nowhere we've been has really had cars.

[She knows he's not sorry. He gets another poke for good measure.]

If I remember correctly, our first meeting had you telling me about how you crashed a car, so your friends didn't let you drive anymore. [Kaname does sound amused at recalling the instance.]

It's not likely to happen, but... I think I want you to see me and Walkure perform on the stage we're used to, broadcast to multiple planets at once. [Clearly wistful now, she leans forward, letting herself rest against him as they ride.] I really miss it.

Ahhh. That is true. But I'm not that bad a driver! Honest! [Just ... easily distracted...]

I'd really like to see that too. That'd be really amazing. [His smile is in his voice.]

I believe you, since you're driving the bird just fine. [She's doing her best not to laugh at her own words. They don't sound the most convincing, though.]

I promise you'd get the best seat I could manage. [Now both arms are back around him for another hug.] For now you'll have to settle for my solo stints.

Well, she mostly drives herself. [He can look around and stop focusing and trust the bird won't run them off a cliff or into a tree.

He can even use both hands to cover hers and squeeze back.]

I can live with that.

That's a relief, since you seem distracted at the moment. [Due in no small part to her, she knows. Kaname straightens up.]

Maybe I could try driving soon. We've gone far enough away.

Yeah, probably. [He's totally distracted. But he immediately pulls the bird to a stop shortly after her request.]

Sure thing! I'll hop off. Just scoot up. [He dismounts, careful not to kick her, and waits for her to move up so he can resettle behind her.] Just give her a gentle nudge with your foot.

[Scoot up she does. Though when he's about to remount, Kaname gives the bird a light tap, causing it to go forward. She quickly pulls it to a stop to let him recover, trying to stifle her laughter.]

Like that?

Funny.

[He tries to scowl, but it looks more like a pout. It's hard to fake angry, okay? Before she can do that again, he swings up behind her and gives her a poke in the side.]

[The poke gets a slight squeak, and she leans back to he has to hold her in place. A better use of his hands.]

But I learned to make it go.

Yes you did. Good job.

[He presses forward enough to drop a kiss on her cheek.]

Now can you tell her where to go?

[The quick kiss gets a happy hum, and Kaname straightens a little to focus.]

Just... tug on the rein when I want her to turn?

Yeah. She doesn't need a lot of coaxing.

[She's a good bird, and obviously well-trained. He hooks his chin over Kaname's shoulder and wraps his arms around her waist to hold on.]

[She takes a moment to settle in, then nudges the bird into movement, veering a little to the left as the path in front of them does.]

For all I've done back home, riding a giant bird was never an experience for me.

Until I left Insomnia, it wasn't a thing for me either. No need to ride around on birds in a place built for cars.
