[ Working together at the Melting Pot means they work in pretty close quarters with Taako sizzlin' it up in the kitchen and Carl bringing the dishes out to the patrons. It was only a matter of time that the Atroma would screw with that too, right? Seeing his boss stuck in the doorway with an umbrella definitely gives him pause. ]

Y'know it's seven years bad luck opening that inside, right?

It'll be seventy years bad luck for whoever keeps fucking with me if I don't get loose soon.

[He grits his teeth, frustrated by being stuck in here, and the umbrella in his hand pulses and crackles with energy.]

I'm about to Magic Missile this piece of junk so you might want to get back.

[ Carl doesn't need to see that thing in action to know some serious shit is about to happen, so he definitely backs up. He may be a little in awe, too, because it's not often he gets to see combat magic. It's cool, okay? ]

[Yes, indeed it has, which is why he's so pissed off about it. It wouldn't be bad if he'd been caught during a less time-sensitive task, but Taako was in the middle of baking and he didn't have a lot of time to get out before he burned shit.

And asking Carl to go take care of it meant forcing the kid to walk under the mistletoe first.]

[Taako points his Umbra Staff toward the innocuous little sprig of holiday cheer and three bolts of magic explode from the tip of the umbrella as he calls out the spell's name. They arc through the air with a fierce crackle of energy, slamming into the plant with three distinct bursts of light.





And it does nothing because of course it does. Taako groans and flips the plant off.]

Seriously. Fuuuuuck you, Space Pan!

[ Wow, that was awesome. Except it did nothing to the mistletoe for some unknown reason. He can imagine that spell packs a punch normally, which is why Taako's so angry about it not working. ]

Taako slumps against the invisible barrier that has trapped him in here, drumming his fingers against the handle of his umbrella.]

Can't be Merle's Pan because I never pissed that goat-dude off, so must be Space Pan.

Great, wonderful. I had a souffle in the oven and I'm sure it's going to be burnt before I get out of here. I can't wait to Scorching Ray their asses for making me fuck up a souffle.

[Taako's ears flick upward as a mischievous grin starts to spread across his face. Well then, this is a development.]

[ You know what, on second thought, he takes it all back. He doesn't want to help. Carl huffs, definitely not looking at Taako. ]

Have to go into the kitchen sometime..

[He knows it's just a good-natured offer of help, but never let it be said that Taako was good-natured in the least. Even if he's consigning himself to sitting here for another hour, he's going to tease the shit out of Carl.]

You should count yourself lucky. A looot of people have had to work a lot harder'n this to get a kiss from me.

[ He takes a few steps back and crosses his arms. Like a petulant teenager. ]

[And that's exactly what Taako needs to rip a full bellied laugh out of him. He may have just consigned himself to mistletoe hell, but the look on Carl's face is freaking priceless.]

[ Listen, he's a repressed teenager who has only ever kissed one girl before. And only once. He deserves to be made fun of a bit. ]

[And? If the place catches on fire, Carl will have to come in to take care of it anyway, meaning he has to pass by Taako. Meaning?

[ Uggh. Why is Taako right? Still, he can play, sitting down in one of the empty chairs. ] Hope it's worth it.

[And since Carl is settling in? So is Taako. He casts Levitate and sits crosslegged, hovering in the air.]

[With a grin, he settles in, arms crossed in a mockery of Carl's pose.]

And every time he slides the file across his nail, it sparkles in multicolored lights.]

[Because he's a jerk like that. Also, he can tell Carl is watching, so he's going ham it up. Taako blows on his fingers a bit, sending a few sparks Carl's way. They glitter and disappear like snow.]

Taako hums a bit, levitating in the air, checking out his nails, throwing sparks and glitter off as he files his nails.

Then? He casts Mage Hand and tries to snatch the communicator out of Carl's hands.]
