I have some things I'm looking to send to good homes. There's a lot of men's clothing, some sewing materials, shaving supplies, and a few odds and ends. It's probably time they go to someone who can make use of them. [For anyone whose known her long enough this description might make it clear enough these are Winn's things.] It's been over two years. [She knows exactly how many days over—twenty.] That's probably long enough to hold on to them. [And maybe it will make room for new things.] I'll probably donate them at the next planet if no one is interested, but feel free to stop by the Twin Roses if you want to take a look.

Or stop by the Malum during my shift tonight and we'll pour one out to the people we're still missing. I mean, I'll charge you for the pour, so feel free to use your mouth for it. [She gives the screen a little smile.]

You sure you're okay with this? You don't have to get rid of them if you don't want to. [Vash has heard that letting possessions go can be helpful, but he's not too sure. He knows if he had anything of Rem's still he'd cling to it as long as possible. He also knows he's not going to take any of the items that she has. Even if he could always use extra saving cream. It just didn't seem right to him.]

Hey you. [She gives him a soft smile.] I know. I'm keeping the things that are important. It will probably still be a lot of things, but the rooms are small and he already keeps a lot of space with me. [In her heart.] I don't need every bit anymore. Not when other people could use them.

As long as you're keeping the important things. [He still isn't sure. He really doesn't think he could let anything go.] Would you like company? Or do you need a bit of time on your own?

I promise. So many things. But it would be good to make some room too. [Because she's been thinking thoughts about future things. Thoughts that haven't really been derailed by the message they got because she doesn't trust it.]

Company sounds good though if you're not busy with something else.

Talk, huh? [Since when does Vash want to talk? Should she be nervous? Maybe not after he said he's never too busy for her? That's probably the more reasonable response.] Yeah. I'm in my room. Come on down.

I'll see you soon. [He was in the pilot seat so it won't take him too long. The ship was mostly on autopilot anyway. When he enters he'll reach to take her hand and look to gently kiss her cheek if she'll allow him to.] How are you doing? [Talking about getting rid of Winn's stuff can't be easy.]

Sure. Come on in, Vision. Not here here for sweater vests? [There were probably some overdue talks.]

As with the shaving supplies, I would find it unnecessary. [So he shifts his clothing to look like a sweater anyway, just because, and smiles a little. It's a bit of a sad smile.]

I was curious if this was because of the text message. [He nods to the pile of what he assumes is Winn's stuff.]

[She gestures to an empty chair for him if he wants to take it.] The text message from our so-called friends? No. I'm still not sure what to think of that. This was something I've been thinking about for a long time. It felt silly to make it all the way to two years without doing it. Sentimental. [And twenty more days than that to actually do it.]

[The Vision tilts his head to one side.] Sentiment is not "silly". Nor is wanting to hold on to hope. [He pauses, and there's a hint of a rueful smile.] Though it is practical given our limited carrying capacity to let go of some of the less immediately useful items.

[He sits down.] I did want to talk about the message from the Interceptors and what it might mean. I acted without the Captain's permission before. That was a mistake in judgment.

Tell that to three years ago me and she'd laugh in your face. Then again she didn't laugh much. Smirk derisively maybe? [But she isn't three years ago her or however many years ago it was when she first got kidnapped. With time in Marina being odd it was hard to say.]

But yeah, let's talk. Seems like we have time to get everyone on board. [Which is nice because last time it led to someone getting all the way off board.] I think I'm kind of the same place. I don't trust it for a second and also figure we'll never get anywhere by not taking a shot.

Some people seem to be set on denying themselves the very emotions that help define them as people. Believing that something must be strength or weakness alone without any complexity to it is, frankly, oversimplifying it.

[He nods again, getting down to business.]

There is a question of how much we trust the Interceptors. Can we be sure that attacking the Marsiva will free us of its influence? If so, will it also remove us from its life support outreach, such as the protein dispensers? We should plan on it, and that will in part depend on what sort of system we go to next.

But I would like to take my life back in my own hands. There are things I love about this place, make no mistake, but without the freedom to choose them, that love can never be without reservation.

[Know what this sounds like? It sounds like using food to help sooth emotions.

Then again, he's Southern, so that applies to all emotions.

Either way, after his own shift at the Bar is done, Remy is seen making his way into Malum to find her, a small packet in hand as he heads her way.]

[It has certainly stirred up feelings, but she's feeling pretty okay about it. At least she thinks she is. Sometimes her urge to put hp a good front convinces even herself.] Hey you. Decided to slum it with your old captain in the competition bar?

Well, when ya put it like that, ya make it sound scandalous. I like that. [A bright grin as Remy presented her with the small box he held.] I thought this may be a suitable item to share today, both for the sake of memories, but also I guess a bit of celebration. [Leaving her to open it to see a mini chocolate cake he had made, having stolen part of the Bar's oven to make it during his shift.]

[She smiles back at him and slowly reaches out for the surprise gift.] Yeah? It's not even one of my fifteen birthdays. [Hush, she only has two birthdays like a normal person.

She starts to open it.] A snake isn't going to pop out, is it? [If she's really worried about that, it doesn't show as she gets the box open.] Oooh. You know how to celebrate and memorialize. [Chocolate is always a winner. She sets the box down and grabs two forks, sliding one over to him.]

[Mmmmm this sounds very emotional.

But it's an emotion of someone who Taako doesn't know that well, so he's going to ignore it in favor of getting free stuff. He never said he was a good person. Not once, in fact.]

What sort of men's clothing? Because it could be boring men's clothing or fun clothing and there is a very big difference between them.

[It is, but she's also waited long enough she can do it without drinking or crying or totally walling herself off to get through it.]

The right wearer can make them fun. [Winn always did. Or maybe they were just a good backdrop to his fun.] Buuuuuut you would probably call them the boring kind. There are some exceptions though like when we were on the rock and roll planet.

[Yeah, the way Taako dresses? Anything less than clothes someone LARPing at a RenFaire would wear or ones a frenzied gogo dancer on speed would choose probably looks boring.

His ears flick at the mention of "rock and roll planet" though and he leans in.]

I don't think there was a wig or anything, but I believe there were leather pants. [Oh, yes, she remembers the pants.] And there were lots of t-shirts. He made them himself. [Nerd stuff! Science puns, tech stuff, fandom stuff. She holds one up that spells "nerdy" out in symbols from the periodic table.]
