[If there's anything this freaking ship loves, it's food. Somehow, a dinner got planned to welcome the new member. And then other people got invited. And then the dinner pretty much turned into a party with a lot of food. Needless to say, Kairi has been very busy preparing food all the day for this.

There's a lot of meat, per the captain's request. But there's also veggies, some fruit, pasta, and even brownies! There are also two pizza pies. Basically, Kairi just cooked a bunch of food and hoped it would be enough, as she had no idea how many people were coming.

SO DIG IN, BLUE FISH AND GUESTS. Also mingle and be social and all that jazz!]

It's not like anybody decided to give their powers to a complete stranger because they've got bleeding heart syndrome or anything.

I'm sorry, I must have missed something. Who gave their powers to whom? And why?

Karata and Allen, they gave them to this...guy who steals people's powers and faces? They did it because he apparently [agressive finger quotes are go] "needed them to live."

[Beverly is more than a little alarmed at this news. Why hasn't she heard about this yet?]

Do you mean he can imitate any of our appearances? Is there any way to tell the difference between the two?

I don't know. Maybe? Allen wasn't convinced so he can't imitate our personalities at least.

[She nods thoughtfully.] That's good. Still, it's alarming. And I'm not sure I quite understand how he needs other people's abilities to survive. It sounds very dubious to me.

Thank you. I'm glad someone else on this ship has some freaking sense.

But they're okay now, aren't they? Katara and Allen?

[alwayscomeback]

Yeah, now. They were lucky.

[dancingmd]

Well, that's the most important thing, right?

[Not that she much likes the idea of this person taking other people's powers either and she doesn't know how wise it was of either Katara or Allen to have given them to him. But, she's only heard Sokka's side of things, so she will withhold judgment for now.]

Have you talked to them about it yet?

Of course I have. They seem to think it's fine, that because he gave them back this time, he will again. It doesn't change that it was a stupid and reckless thing to do.

I must admit, I'm surprised they agreed to it.

[Or at least, she's surprised Allen did. She hasn't gotten to know Katara very well yet.]

I'm not surprised Katara did it. She's idealistic, sometimes. Not as much as Aang, but it's there. She wants to help people at risk to herself.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I find it rather admirable. But I understand completely why you're upset. There have been plenty of times where those I love have put themselves in harm's way and it somehow always made me angrier than if it was something they had no control over.

Ugh, I just wish they'd been more careful.

[dancingmd]

I know. And if you need to be mad at them for a little while, that's okay.

I'll be fine. I was just... worried.

I would have been too.

[She sighs.] Still adjusting, but I'm better, now that we're away from Mor and that the fleet made it out of that fight more or less in one piece.

Yeah, we were all really lucky. I'm glad people are on board for cross-training. It might mean we'll be in a better chance of a fight if they ever show up again.

[dancingmd]

Me too. I've figured out some things on my own, since certain elements of starship design are going to be similar across cultures, but there's still a lot I don't know about this ship.

[alwayscomeback]

And the more we know, we might eventually be able to escape.

[dancingmd]

[Beverly nods in agreement. Escape is never far from her mind either, though the more she learns, the more she realizes what a difficult task it will be. Seeing those star charts earlier... Her eyes suddenly light up and she points at Sokka eagerly.]

Oh! This reminds me! I was in the Bishop's library earlier where Krista told me that you were interested in stellar cartography and had contributed some of the maps in her collection. I would love to try to develop a more comprehensive map of this region of space, if you were interested. I'm no expert of course, but I understand the basics of astrometrics.

Oh man, really? I mean, I'm pretty good with maps, but these are all new to me. It's not the same as travelling on land. I really, really want to learn, see if I can figure out the lay of the land properly.
