Sweet dreams are made of these...
( for A-M characters )
Before you post your topcomment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your topcomment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

[As you might have guessed from the sounds, when you open your eyes, you find yourself in the passenger seat of a car at night. There's a light fog just beyond the windows. Airbags both in the unoccupied driver’s side and your side of the car have been deployed. Although you can’t exactly see, (the windshield’s taken a little bit of a battering), the front end of the car has been smashed against railing of a bridge. Fortunately, the car isn't threatening to teeter into water below. You are alone inside the car, but given that the driver’s side door is open, it’s safe to say that someone else might be around.]
[If you look in the rearview, you’ll notice the trunk is open. You’re free to get out of the car to investigate or continue looking around inside as there’s plenty to look at. In fact, hanging from said rearview is a necklace. Resting on the dashboard between the driver and passenger side is a pale, smooth stone the size of about a bar of soap. You also have the option of looking in the glove compartment and rummaging around. If you turn to look in the backseat, you'll notice a ball.]

[He should probably be more alarmed that the car's crashed, but - well. This is sort of his life now, so it only registers once he notices the driver's side is unoccupied. Craning his neck to look out the back window, he doesn't see anyone immediately, so he starts digging around in the glove compartment, just in case there's any identifying information.]

[But when it comes to an end and Stefan attacks Elena, her screams likely echoing in Caesar's ears, he'll find himself forced to look up again and the sight and sounds of the car will come rushing back in. There's a soft groan in the backseat. Elena is lying there, looking nearly exactly as she did in the memory. Nearly because there's a near-deathly pallor to her skin now and she's visibly having a hard time opening her eyes. The wound at her neck has been bandaged, but there's a tube in her arm leading into a blood bag on the floor that says Mystic Falls Hospital. The blood, however, isn't being transfused to her. It's being taken.]

[There's a moment, when he emerges from the memory, when he could go one of two ways. He could be aggressive, or he could be protective. The second he sees her, the switch is flipped; his eyes widen in horror and he twists around so he's halfway into the backseat, kneeling on the console, one hand on her cheek and one on the tube.]
Elena. Elena, hey, look at me. I have to pull this out, all right? Tell me that's okay.

Elena...?
[He would know that necklace anywhere, considering how often it's been popping up in his own memories. He shouldn't, he really really shouldn't, but he unbuckles his seatbelt and reaches out to touch it. She can't exactly wear it anymore, unless he takes the vervain out, but she'd appreciate the thought. Right?]

[She smiles, faintly, at Stefan and plays with necklace which is still around her neck. She tips her head, looking at him expectantly.]

He's not sure what to say at first. My brother loved you? Except 'my brother' feels just as foreign as this memory, and it takes him a couple of seconds to find the words he's really looking for...
In the end, he settles for, right as he returns to the hood of the car and sees her there,] Hey.
[He goes ahead and meets her, climbing out of the car if he's still inside.] Everything okay?
no subject
Of course it is. Everything worked out. [She smiles a little wider, brighter. Looking for all the world like a young girl in love. She couldn't look more at ease; as though she's not sitting on a mess of a car right now.] You're here. Why wouldn't it be?
no subject
For starters, your car's a total wreck. [He turns his gaze to the edge of the bridge, and of course, at the water below them. He knows this bridge, and he sure doesn't like it. Stefan remembered what happened the first time, that fateful night...
Then again, and how she had insisted on him saving Donovan. Salvatore flip-flops on regretting that choice. He didn't want to listen, but he had.]
Elena, I... wait. Everything worked out?

Or not one she can see just yet.
A necklace catches her attention from the rearview mirror and she leans up to take it off, wanting to explore it more closely.]

[Elena is now sitting on the undamaged part of the hood rather than the corner of her bed, playing with her necklace. She looks up after a few seconds at Santanico through the windshield and slides off the hood. She steps around to the passenger side door, waiting for her to either open it or roll down the window to speak. She's still in her PJs and her breath fogs in the night air, but she doesn't seem perturbed by any of it.]
You're okay, right?
no subject
(Sure, she's gotten into Richie's head but she would never say it was out of love.)
And then suddenly she's in the car again and Elena's voice jars her a little.]
I'm fine. [She gets out of the car now.]

[This whole thing is stupid. But at least most of the things in the car sort of makes sense, now that she's looking at it as a whole - except for the ball. What the hell?]
[And of course she reaches into the backseat to touch it. Have you met her?]
no subject
[She hasn't noticed Mal herself just yet.]

[Your heroic vampire friends.]
[It's funny; she doesn't really consider herself to be a hero. Just a person, which, all things considered, is a lot already. She was never supposed to be a person; she never hated herself, but she did come to an understanding of what she was, the role she played in the world and in the food chain. She was a monster, and an archaic, outdated one. A relic of a dying age.]
[So she adapted. But now - well, she doesn't think she's a hero, and she isn't even sure she's Elena's friend. But she isn't a total asshole, either, so she comes around the front of the car and steadies Elena with a hand on her shoulder.]
Not a good driver, are we? [Weak, Mal. Weak.]
no subject
At least I didn't end up in the water this time... [She feels a little bad at making the joke, but honestly? This bridge and her just do not get along.] I'm guessing you didn't bring something to eat.
[Because boy that would help staying upright.]
no subject
[Not any kind of something to eat, although really she isn't sure what Elena's asking for. Vampires. What a mess.]
I can help you walk somewhere, if you want.

[It takes her a little longer than it should, therefore, to slip out of the passenger's seat and find her feet on the asphalt. Once she does - well, there's only one choice for her. She takes a few quick steps away from the car, cups her hands around her mouth, and calls:]
Elena?
