When We're Rollin Through the Wild Wild West

Who: Everyone! EVERYONE!
Broadcast: IF YOU WANNA
Action: Everywhere! EVERYWHERE!
When: Mid-September - Mid-October

[How's your ship doing, pardners? Is it still pretty damaged? Is it glitching out hardcore? Well, there is one place to land to take care of all that, and that's on a dusty old moon in front of a planet that no one wants to go to. On this moon, you'll find a civilization that looks a lot like one's stepped into a wild west movie, hardened cowpolk and mutant horses and all. Will you become a vigilante, hunting bounties and stopping gangs from doing their dirty work? Will you go exploring planetside, with a cowboy hat and a stalk of wheat in your mouth to complete the look? Good luck with that; there is no wheat. This town ain't big enough for all you flooters, but make it so! For the ratings!

In other words, it's a planet mingle! Get 'er done!]

So you've got enemy scanning abilities, too...

[He's genuinely interested in all the similarities between their worlds.]

Do you have access to your abilities here?

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-02 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
... Some of them. It's a long story. I can cast Scan still, if that's what you're asking.
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> ([ggo] she'd definitely make me taste it)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-02 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
[He meant any ability, really, but that's good enough.]

I can't seem to activate any of my skills here. It's been really inconvenient.

[Granted, he knows why, but he probably shouldn't say that.]
experiencepoints: (What am I s'posed to do with this chikn)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-02 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I mean...

[Given their position, she can't do her normal demonstration, so she'll just make a small whirlwind in the air in front of Kirito.]

None of my spells are blocked, except for the ones I lost before coming here.
huaaaaagh: ([ggo] like when you pick them)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-02 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa!

[Kirito dodges the horse around it instinctively, even if it's small and harmless. It's impossible not to.]

That's lucky. I was never any good with spells, but I knew a few. I can't do any here without the spell assist.

Oh- Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.

What's 'spell assist'?
huaaaaagh: ([ggo] what could I call it?)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-03 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Just how it sounds. It's a system that exists in my world to help people cast magic. You can look up which spells you've learned, the words and configuration needed to cast them, and how much mana is required for each. It's part of the menu.

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-03 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
... Huh. Something like that would actually be really useful for something like Yura's job...
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> ([ggo] i bet camels taste weird)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-03 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
If it's someone who's bad at memorizing spells, I can definitely vouch for its usefulness.

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-03 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking for children. My, uh... My friend from home, Yura, [judging from how pink her cheeks have just turned, she's probably not saying everything there] has a job running children through low-level dungeons to help them level up. I figure kids who don't pay attention to their own stats might do well with something like that...
huaaaaagh: ([ggo] spoogle? spagoogle? planoogle?)

[He's facing front so he doesn't see it at first, but her little stumble makes him glance back. Oho... boyfriend, maybe?]

I can see it being a big help, yeah. It's too bad I can't just teach something like that, or you could take it home with you.

Yeah... It's a mechanic of your world, right? So it can't be taken elsewhere, probably...
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> ([ggo] everything's greasy and nasty)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-04 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... sorry. Not really much I can do about that.
experiencepoints: (Just imagine Sieg and Hana's baby.)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-04 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it. I'll figure out a way to do something similar.
huaaaaagh: ([ggo] did anyone ever use it)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-04 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Hmm... well, he'd wanted to go from player to creator, so. Here's an opportunity.]

Are there items in your world that can be used to create custom messages, or write in books, or anything like that?
experiencepoints: (pic#7734247)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-04 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
... Well, I mean... We do have phones and books.
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> ([ggo] the best source for great recipes)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-05 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you have phones? That could make it easier.

[He's never heard of a world that had fantasy elements and tech. Usually it's one or the other.]

Is it that surprising? I have mine on me, but it's spent about half a year at a place with no electricity, and then another couple months here, and... well, the charger didn't come with it.
huaaaaagh: ([ggo] i do not always think about food)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-05 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's a little surprising, but...

[Well, it's not like he can say why. No explanation seems especially compelling, and at least half of them would imply her world as being anything but normal. He doesn't want to offend her again.]

Anyway, what kind of spells do you know?
experiencepoints: (Just imagine Sieg and Hana's baby.)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-05 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Magic doesn't necessarily keep a world trapped in a period drama, you know. We've got phones, cars, skyscrapers, internet...

[Not that she's ever watched period dramas.]

Well... Right now, some stuff happened so I've lost a lot of my spells, and there's still some I'm trying to keep secret. I figure if the Atroma don't know about them, there's a better chance of it working on them.

Of the ones I've already used here... Fire, Fire 2, Fire 3, Sleep, Scan, and you saw Wind.
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> ([ggo] are there desert chickens?)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-06 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
[That's a fair argument. Just because it's unusual for him doesn't mean it isn't possible.

The spells are intriguing, too. Multiple elements? Sleep, as well as offensive spells? And Scan counts as a spell, not a skill?]

Is it hard to learn a second element when you've chosen a first, or is it the same level of difficulty no matter what you learn?
experiencepoints: (pic#7734247)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-06 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Not... really? I mean, as you level up, you get the same spells. With some extra spells from spellbooks, if you can manage them. You level up, you learn a new spell.
huaaaaagh: ([ggo] moogle? like the moon or uh)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-07 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting. In my world, you're limited in spells by your race, and it can be really difficult to learn spells that fall outside of your territory's specialization.
experiencepoints: (Dude sucks dick for coke I seen him.)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2015-10-07 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
... Weird. The only bearing race has on magic at home is that merfolk can't use it. Not that they need to.

What do you mean, 'territory'?
huaaaaagh: ([ggo] what could I call it?)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2015-10-07 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
The world is split into multiple areas, and each race has its own area- it's known as their territory. So if you're from the Sylph region, your natural element is wind, and learning fire magic would be tricky.
