destinyembrace: (I will catch fire)

[The Blue Fish crew might be surprised to find a private message from Kairi waiting for them on their communicators.

Ever since Allen had told them about his Noah a few months back, Kairi had been debating telling them her own secret. Well, one of them, anyway. There was the issue of Naminé, but she wasn't even sure how to broach that subject. For now, she would have to let that topic lie, and instead focus on her other secret.

Truth be told, she's not sure if this will even be an issue. They're seemingly so far away from the worlds she ever knew about, it's possible that the laws that governed them didn't apply out here. But it wasn't a chance she wanted to take. If Allen could open up to them about his Noah, then she certainly could tell them about this.

It didn't make her any less nervous, though.]

Hey everyone. Um... there's something I should tell you guys. It's nothing bad, per se, but it's... well, it does tend to attract trouble. Hopefully not here! [She laughed nervously, pushing her hair back.] I... think we're far away enough from where I'm from that it shouldn't be an issue, but... just in case..

Okay. [Deep breath.] Where I'm from, there are two forces that sort of govern everything. Light and Darkness. They're opposites, but one cannot exist without the other. Darkness isn't necessarily evil, but it does tend to lend itself to it. It's a very corrupting influence if you're not careful. The Light is generally a force of good, but not usually as powerful as Darkness. You... I think you get the idea.

In most people's hearts, there is both Light and Darkness. How much varies per each person. Those who are corrupt and yearn for power tend to have more Darkness than Light. The Darkness can corrupt a person's heart, turn them to evil, but there's always a little bit of Light in there that won't go out. As long as you're still human, at least. [There were Heartless and Nobodies and whatnot, but she wasn't going to go into that now.] Anyway...

[And here comes the hard part.] There is an exception to that. Seven exceptions, to be exact. There are seven girls who have hearts of pure Light, not one bit of Darkness in them. They're called the Princesses of Heart. If you put all seven of them together and release the power within their hearts, they can open the door to the heart of all worlds. I guess there's supposed to be untold wisdom and power in that heart, but that's just legend. Likely something no one should ever find out. [Though Maleficent had come damn close, averted barely by Sora's interference.]

I'm... one of those seven. [She releases a shaky breath.] I don't think it poses a danger, especially since the others aren't here. But that much Light does tend to attract Darkness. It can also repel it, though. I guess it depends on how it's used? I don't know. I only learned about this a year ago and not in the best way. Given how I don't think the laws about Light and Darkness even apply out here, it may be a non-issue. I wanted you guys to know, though. Just in case. Riku and Axel also know about this, so if something were to come up and I wasn't ... they'd be able to help.

That's everything, I guess. I'd appreciate it if you guys kept this quiet, just to be on the safe side. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer. [She moves to turn off the communicator, but pauses and suddenly frowns.] Oh, and no, I am not royalty. [Probably.] So no "your highness" jokes out of any of you.

[With that said, the feed ends.]

Who: Cole
Broadcast: No
Action: EVERY SHIP EXCEPT THE MARSIVA
When: The first half of the month

[See, the problem is, now Cole's augment is a pilot one.

He's lost the room he wasn't aware as his, but he's gained a whole new lot of knowledge. Such as how to move the ship, how to dock it to other ships and that makes his constant wandering from ship to ship much easier.

And it means he can park the Pathstone with the Three Twins and Tourist without ever going on board either of them. He can bring the Pathstone to them, and still give Fenris his safe space and people form those ships and visit the Pathstone without having to take a shuttle!

So, Cole's doing his rounds again. Visiting. Parking. Shoving the Pathstone wherever he feels like going.]

[ No video this time - just audio. At least, for now. ]

Hey. I get that people around here leave sometimes, but... I just want to make absolutely sure before... I-I don't know. I just want to make sure.

[ There's a slightly long pause here. ]

... Has anyone seen Chie Satonaka lately? She was on the SS Paisley.

[ He'll leave communications completely open. While he's waiting for an answer, he'll just sit here and beat himself up and maybe revisit a particular conversation he had earlier with a particular drunk dude about particularly very related things. ]

When: i meant to do this a couple of days ago but work got in the way of fun things so let's backdate this to … 7/3. yeah.

( someone's in the kitchen with diiinah … someone's in the kitchen i knooow.

he's been assigned to his ship long enough that he feels confident in putting himself to good use – and wouldn't you know it, the kitchen is the first place he makes a real stop. he's been known to cook with sparse ingredients, and nothing could have come out worse than chie and yukiko's mystery food x during the school camping trip, so! he's going to see what he can do here.

maybe he'll even come up with something tasty enough to earn him a reputation. or something.

he moseys around for a little while on his own, figuring out what he has to work with – dried fish strips? what in the world can he make with those? – and it's not until he prepares a few experimental dishes that he opens up a voice broadcast to the other members of the crew, inviting them to come test this stuff out.

except he has to fiddle with his device for a second before he gets a good handle on it. the last time he'd spoken to anyone on this thing, it had been adachi, and he hadn't exactly been focused on figuring it out.
)

… Am I doing this right? Okay –

( throat clearing! )

Hey everyone, Yu Narukami here. I was transferred here a bit ago, and I don't think I've managed to meet all of you just yet. ( whoops. ) Anyway, I thought I'd check out the kitchen and see what I could contribute, and I've put together a few dishes if anyone is feeling hungry – or adventurous – enough to stop by.

( there's a pause, and then: ) Also, if anyone has something they'd like me to try to make for them, just ask.

( and that's it! come by, have a chat, try something he's made … everything is up in the air! )

Who: The Blue Fish Crew & Any Visitors
Broadcast: MAYBE
Action: SS Blue Fish
When: Beginning of July

[So in the past month, Aang & Katara may or may not have become an item, Sokka finished off all of puberty in under a week, Allen remained stuck in the puberty still, Toph won strangest pilot award briefly before she had to give it up to a pony, Hawke sassed everything and finally itemized with Anders, Beverly acquired a Starfleet issued puppy, and it turned out the cook is a flipping disney princess. Quite a time for the Blue Fish crew!]

Attention SS Bishop crew, this is your captain, Hiro Hamada, speaking. I'd like to take a moment to thank everybody for doing such a great job at their stations; we couldn't run the ship without you. Also, Adra, if you can take the time to figure out how to fix my brother's elephant ears, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Who: Eugene Woods
Broadcast: Fleetwide video
Action: SS Vanquish
When: 7/6

[All right. Eugene guesses he's been here . . . man. Almost a month?

Wow, yeah. Time apparently flies when you're homesick, low-level angry, and relegated to a ship's kitchen.

He knows he has to crawl out of it sooner or later though. And since there's nothing he can do to find his people, or get himself back to him, he guesses it falls to just doing his job and figuring out this place he's stuck in. He's propped up his communicator to have a nice wide-angle view of the galley (let it never be said he doesn't have a sense for presentation when he puts his mind to it), where he's seated between the table and the workspace.]

Hi there everyone. For those of you I haven't met - i.e., most of you - I'm Eugene Woods. Cook of the good ship Vanquish. I know there are some talented engineers out there in the fleet, so if anyone's willing to take some commission work, I could use a few food-prep devices beyond what they give us. A basic dehydrator would open up a whole new world of edible protein options, for starters. And if anyone thinks they're up to slapping together a quick setup so I can start homebrewing? Even better. It's basic equipment, I promise, pretty DIY stuff. I'm just lacking the facilities here to sterilize everything. I don't have much more to trade than work and a portion of whatever I manage to make, but hey. Maybe we have some thirsty or snack-hungry inventors out there.

For everyone else-? Here. Toss out some recipe requests. I'll inflict the results upon my shipmates, or any lucky visitors, for your viewing pleasure. How's that for entertainment?

[Shipmates are, of course, welcome to come down to the kitchen. In addition to whatever the bored masses have been suggesting, Eugene's mixed up something vaguely resembling an udon soup with the dried fish, as well as some too-soft chili-peanut potato pancakes.]

[after another odd delay between Atroma broadcasts, the jingle rings in loud and clear... though, strangely, silence immediately returns afterward. for nearly a solid minute, there is nothing but open, quiet air.

and when Diamond's voice chimes in, it isn't nearly as cheerful as it usually is. it's questionable whether or not her solemnity is genuine at all, but the tone is at least there.]

...My dear, dear passengers. We have given you some silence and distance, stepped back and watched with held breath to see how you would meet the recent challenge... and you have done beautifully.

Our hearts ached with your sadness; our fists clenched with your rage. Your demonstrations have been nothing short of moving. So, please... imagine the applause as we rise to our feet and celebrate you.

[and she takes a breath, leaves a pause for all the imagining that the passengers must be doing right now.]

Now, where are you headed? What lies just around the corner? I hope you all hold onto those lessons of friendship and teamwork, and are settled into your station. There is much more work to be done.

[there's a rapping sound--tense fingers drumming on a table near the microphone, maybe.]

There has been a little bit of rearranging, of course. Moving a few things out to make room. I'm sure you all appreciate the breathing space.

And, in the commotion, we have three captains stepping up to command two ships. Congratulations to Captain Hamada, Captain Russo, and Captain Todd. You are taking the helm at an exciting time.

Stay alert, passengers. And remember that we are all here with you. The worlds are watching.

[and, as usual, the sound cuts out but the channel remains open, for a time.]
