Who: Cole Turner
Broadcast: network-wide video
Action: on the Marsiva
When: Around 1/13
[There's aDarth Maul cosplayer tall and annoyed demon pacing back and forth, playing almost nervously with his hands like there's a ring that should be there but isn't.]
Another reality show? I thought the last one was bad enough.
[He stops his pacing to look up at the ceiling, seeming to direct his anger at that.]
Leo! Leo Wyatt! Orb your whitelighter ass down here and do something useful for once!
[He waits a moment before he throws up his hands in frustration and goes back to pacing.]
Great, fine. Alright, you've got me here. Point me at whoever or whatever you want me to kill so we can get this over with.

[He takes a moment to study Varric, looking very thoughtful.]
You're not a demon, are you?

[He laughs and grins widely, showing off all of his pointy teeth.]
Why would I kill a dwarf? That's just stupid.
no subject
[What the fuck what the fuck wHAT THE FUCK]
no subject
[Sorry, Varric. Things are only going to get worse before they get better.]
no subject
You here to possess mages? Or something else? 'Cause if it's the former, I've got a shot to the face with your name on it.
[Varric has two mages on his ship and he is not letting them become demon food.]
no subject
I'd never do that to anyone. Been on the receiving end of a possession and it's something I'd never wish on even my worst enemies.
[If only Varric knew one of the mages on his ship was actually this demon's son.]
no subject
[He'll find out soon enough, probably because Chris will see the death threat and flip out sooner or later.]
no subject
[...yeah, Chris gets very protective of his dad. Even when Cole doesn't need it.]
no subject
[He squints discerningly.]
I do know that there are at least three people here with plenty of demon-slaying experience. So you might, might want to reconsider your first impression here.
Personally, I know that you might or might not be from my world and could be different. But other people might not be... reasonable. When you've had to cut through entire armies of demons, it kinda makes sense.
no subject
[He does not talk about the Source of All Evil. Because fuck the Source.]
I'm not going to hide what I am. So I'm a demon. I can't change that and frankly, by this point, I don't want to. If others can't handle that fact, then that's on them. I don't care unless they're going to attack me and if they do, I'm defending myself. Demon or not, I have that right.
no subject
Of course you do. I'm not saying you don't. But uh, demons are not people where I'm from. And there's other people here. From... where I'm from.
I think one will be fine, but the other... well. You see an elf with white veiny tattoos, do yourself a favor and wear a hat or something.
no subject
Thanks for the warning, but it's a bit too late for that. We've already been acquainted. And I can do better than just wearing a hat.
[Cole then switches to his human form and crosses his arms, waiting for a reaction since everyone seems to have one about his form changes.]
no subject
[He's a very eloquent dwarf. His eyebrows go up when Cole shifts back into his human form though.]
That definitely beats wearing a hat. Now you just look like someone who needs a stiff drink.
no subject
You have no idea. I could definitely go for something strong right about now.
no subject
There's vodka on the waystation. Fair warning, though: it tastes like a fruit pie with too much sugar.
[If nothing else, the guy with the demon face is... not interested in ripping Varric's beardless face off his skull.]

Let's be timey-wimey!]There will be no shots, no names, no nothing when it comes to that demon. That's the only rule I've got for this ship. Got it, Doc?
[ DID SOMEBODY CALL FOR AN OVERPROTECTIVE SON?
no? too bad]no subject
[He's never seen Chris with that face, though. There's a story there, and whatever annoyance he might feel at having someone march in and nearly slap him disappears in favor of trying to peer into the current situation.
He leans back in his chair.]
You don't need to make up rules for your fake captaining or whatever. Just tell me what's going on.
no subject
That's my father. You are not going to vanquish my father.
no subject
[And then it dawns on his face that Chris is also part demon, maybe, probably.]
Shit. No, I'm not going to shoot your dad! I just-- look, demons. Demons are bad on my world. I told you why. If you say he's not a bad guy, I'll take your word for it-- he doesn't look like a Thedas demon anyway.
How do demons even have kids?
no subject
He's not. Bad. He's not a bad guy. [ He takes a moment, collects himself and then gives a half-laugh to go with a half-shrug. ] They're not spirits, for one thing. They have bodies just like the rest of us. It's kind of common practice for demons to have half-demon children so their kids can blend in better, but... Dad's not a full demon to start with, anyway.
no subject
That's different. Different is good.
[A pause.]
For the record, demon or not, you're still part of this crew. Don't go getting any stupid ideas like, oh, everyone on this ship hates you just because of something you were born with.
no subject
To be honest, that's usually more than enough for anyone else to want me gone. I mean—I would never do anything to hurt people, especially not you guys, but... [ He goes quiet, staring into the brightly colored alcohol. Somehow just that small kindness has left him rather adrift. He looks up, gives a wry twist of his lips. ] Thanks.
no subject
He sighs inwardly.]
You're a good kid.
no subject
So we're... we're good on Dad? [ Yep, that's enough talking about Chris. He can't handle this much acceptance out of nowhere; even with his family, it took months to convince him that it's okay to just be accepted. From people he hardly knows? It doesn't even make sense. ] He's the one who—if I'm not going to hurt anyone, it's because I learned it from him.
