Haruka - Games
[ Well, to be fair, he's not sure how many people have actually played that thing, so for all he knows he's merely the fifth to play and just did well against them. But he'll take his silver victory as it is. ]
Chess? It's a personal favorite, but I'm open to cards too. Or whatever your preference might be.

She'll take a seat at one of the chessboards, picking the black pieces. White has the advantage in going first, yes, but she likes being able to size up an opponent.
Besides, she defaults to assuming that against her, everyone needs a handicap. This is thoughtfulness.
Probably. ] Any objections?

He arranges the white when she picks black, surprised by her choice given white's advantage, but it's intriguing too. Only someone confident would do that, or someone who didn't understand the game. But he suspected it was the former.
Maybe she would prove as much of a challenge as Spock. He still smiled at the memory of Spock's face when he beat him the first time. ]
No, quite all right.
[ He smiled sweetly at her and shifted his first piece, an unassuming pawn. ]
I take it you've played before?

He moves another pawn quickly after hers, chuckling. ]
I think a bit more than a few. You don't seem the type to do things recklessly.

[ Look, see. A bishop has come out to play. ]
/fakes chess till she makes it >>
[ He just smiled and moved his knight to counter, not seeming worried. ]

[ Another pawn. ]

[ First capture goes to her. Hah. ]

[ He doesn't seem bothered by the capture. He doesn't so much as blink at it, in fact, quickly taking one of her own pieces to counter it with a smirk. ]
I would be surprised and disappointed if it did.
no subject
[ Not that you haven't been. But if he's interested in seeing what she's really made of, well....they picked the wrong field for this.....but Haruka intends to actually focus now.
Getting about that time. ]

[ He chuckles, but follows her advice and concentrates. She's a good player, and he is enjoying the challenge, but eventually... ]
Check. Three to checkmate.
[ He looked to her and smiled oh so innocently. ]

[ She moves a piece. Does this get her out of her pinch, or is she doomed either way? ]
no subject
[ Probably doomed. But he appreciates effort, and she is quite a good player. He moves his own piece, not looking bothered by her counter move and not declaring anything new. In fact, all he did was hum and grin at her oh so very charmingly. ]
