[[OOC:

Kirk's Overflow
[ He had felt well enough to come down and enjoy the festivities (of course a doctor might have disagreed with this self diagnosis, but he was notorious for not listening to them anyways). Besides, he wanted to do something fun that didn't involve potentially falling in mud, and a part - especially a masked party screamed of fun.
Plus there was dancing. He hadn't done that in quite awhile, and it suddenly sounded like a a lot of fun.
He came dressed in a simple harlequin mask and a tastefully subtle suit. He was one for being flashy in his actions, not his dress. Besides, he liked the cut of it and he hadn't been to expensive. All wins.
He didn't particularly come with anyone, and even if he had, he would still be as happy to dance with anyone as he was now. He flashes winks and charming smiles, ready to hit the dance floor. ]
Snacks
[ Kirk had found himself hungrier ever since he'd woken from his coma - not a lot, but just that slight increase that made him think of his teenage years when he would push anything and everything down his gullet to quiet his stomach. And he's curious to see what these people would consider upscale enough for a party.
A lot of pickling, so it seemed. But there are other things that are even better quality than their ships, and he indulges in those with glee. He picks out a hefty plate and makes his way over to the side to enjoy the meal with a few obvious sounds of delight when he found a morsel he particularly enjoyed and watched the people mingle. Of course he gets himself at least one drink, willing to shell out for a good scotch or at least the approximation of it.
Of course, he'd always welcome a little dinner conversation. ]
Games
[ As much as Kirk likes dancing, eventually the press of people and the heat from the bodies becomes a bit much and he finds himself in need of space. He would say air, but since the air outside is, well, somewhat toxic he'll have to make do with a less crowded room.
He comes across the gaming room and lights up in delight, stopping short of clapping his hands in glee. They aren't quite what he knows, but he's seen the people playing them around town, so he thinks he has the general idea of how to play them - which totally counts, right? And card games. He likes those two.
Mostly he sticks between the board game that is most similar to chess if he can get anyone to play with him, enjoying a few rounds of darts (which he is not precisely good at, but he gives it his best shot and that's what's fun). And of course the pin ball machine. Have to get that high score right? Don't mind him as he bites his lip in concentration. This is absolutely serious business, you know. ]
Green Museum
[ Naturally at one point he has to come and explore the 'Green Museum'. Frankly, he's stunned by what he sees, and the explorer in him is practically vibrating. New flora. New fauna. Things unseen by Earth humans as of yet. It made him yearn for his proper Star Fleet equipment to try and take readings, or negotiate for samples. But for now all he had was his own eyes and ears.
He is almost reverent as he walks the dimly lit paths paths, pausing at plants and animals that especially catch his attention, peering at them as if he could commit them in their entirety to his memory. It was all he could do, really, absolutely planning to write about them when he returned to the ship.
For the first time since arrive in the Fleet, perhaps, Kirk looks as close to his element as he has ever come, his face rapt as he explored in the quiet. ]
Leto - Ballroom
[ He gulped, not sure where that had come from. But Leto saw futures didn't he? Pasts too, if what he had said of knowing of Kirk's resurrection was to be believed. While he trusted less in the future, because it had the habit of being changed far to easily in his experience, it was comforting in its way. ]
Aye, maybe I wasn't. Guess that's why I got to make a friend of you, right?
[ He smiled that charming smile of his, almost painfully sincere. ]
no subject
But friends were dangerous. Love was dangerous. He accepted them, appreciated them -- but at an arm's length. Jim knew a little of him now. But perhaps Leto told him too much. He can't have people on fruitless quests.
So he hums lightly, running his fingers down Jim's neck. ]
You have my countenance.

Maglor - Green Museum
"Finrod?" he repeated, not sure if he should be proud of himself or not for jumping to the right conclusion. "I've met him before. He was playing the harp in a park at the space station we stopped at last. He's talented - and nice." He hadn't really talked to him much so he could not say more than that, but he had liked him from the short conversation they'd had. He would not mind spending more time with the elf, and his cousin was proving equally pleasant.
"It's good that you have family here," he nodded. "Do you play an instrument like he does? Or is that just something unique to Finrod?"
no subject
He nods with a wry smile. "No - I was named for my harpskill, and it was not given wrongly - not that mother was often wrong about such things! Although I have tried my hand at many different instruments, I always came back to the harp."

Kitty - Ballrom
He laughed and took her hand. "Well, when you put it like that, how could I possibly refuse?" he grinned and took to the dance floor with her, perhaps a touch careful to keep his hands slightly up from hip height.
"Do you like to do this sort of thing in your world? Go dancing, I mean?"

Wrath - Ballroom
His grin only widened the more she talked. It had been a very good idea to come over to speak with her, though when he thought about it the name Wrath tickled the back of his brain. He couldn't particularly say why though.
"A woman after my own heart!" he declared. "It's really not a good night out if there isn't at least one bar fight, if you ask me."
Well, he had moved a bit away from that now, but he remembered those days and they weren't all bad. Especially one in particular.

Felix
Clearly I need to come to you the next time we have a major party. I feel positively drab by comparison now.
[ Not that he looked poorly in his - they were fitted nicely and have alluring lines, but he definitely lacked in the color department, though that had been by intention. He thought it helped his hair and eyes stand out much better that way. ]

Apollo - Ballroom
Well, I thought it was. The trick, I found, is actually keeping it. I had her taken away from me for a short time, but I earned her back.
[ At first for a reason he would never be able to fully reconcile, but after because he had done everything he could to save her and his crew, albeit from circumstances of his own making. ]
It's been a bit of a bumpy relationship the past two years, to say the least.

Loki - Ballroom
[ Kirk tilted his jaw up ever so slightly, eyes glinting behind his mask. ]
That sounds rather like a challenge, Sir Dragon. Not scared of running into a knight this evening?
Haruka - Games
[ Well, to be fair, he's not sure how many people have actually played that thing, so for all he knows he's merely the fifth to play and just did well against them. But he'll take his silver victory as it is. ]
Chess? It's a personal favorite, but I'm open to cards too. Or whatever your preference might be.
no subject
She'll take a seat at one of the chessboards, picking the black pieces. White has the advantage in going first, yes, but she likes being able to size up an opponent.
Besides, she defaults to assuming that against her, everyone needs a handicap. This is thoughtfulness.
Probably. ] Any objections?

Beverly - Game Room
There has to be something.
[ He bit his lip as he considered, drumming his fingers against the table for a few heart beats. ]
How about this - I raise you one stack of pancakes.
[ One of the foods he's really good at. Every bachelor has that one and that's his. ]
no subject
Pancakes hmm? I think I can work with that!

Erik - Games
[ He gives the other a dead pan look, sure he's cheated somehow, but not sure how. But he's sure. Probably. Maybe he's just that good, but either way he rolls his eyes. ]
Wine? Not what I would have picked for you, but wine it is.
[ He leaves to go to the bar, slapping down the money for a glass and comes back with a rich red-purple drink and holds it out to Erik. ]
One glass of wine, as promised.

FDR - Games
Hmm, only really talked once or twice, but I think I'm on his shit list for calling Beverly.
[ Not the he sounded concerned about that. Max could be mad all he wanted, Kirk didn't feel sorry for calling in the calvary. ]
I've never had to rely on more than my smile, and maybe a few games of pool. But by all means, teach me your ways, sensei.
[ He motioned to the dart board. ]
Kara - Snacks
Ah, so Winn made yours too? Kitty mentioned that he had made hers. Maybe I should have availed myself of his talents - or is he a women's only designer?
[ He twirled Kara with a chuckle and brought her back. ]
But thank you, I do try. I wanted to avoid the suit and tie sort of thing. I always feel like I'm choking in formal attire.
[ He wrinkled his nose, making his mask wiggle back and forth a little. ]

Continuing our thing sorry for the late
[You know... cheese, wine, the whole nine yards. That was at least safe, after some inspection of course. She didn't have much time for dancing back home or in the fleet for that matter, so it might be nice to indulge.]
Thankfully the food proved to be more than exceptional. I would have hated to have disappointing news.
[She's teasing a bit since he's dishing it out himself. It was nice and honestly such banter made butterflies form in her stomach. It was good to feel like she could laugh once in a while with a friend.]

Winn - Snacks
[ Wow, bro, you... have it bad. Kirk would question falling hard and fast himself, but his own thoughts on monogamous relationships and love in general aren't what one might expect. More than once he has run from a relationship that was going well because the word 'love' came up. It makes him look oddly at those who attach so quickly in such a way, but whatever makes the two of them happy. Do you and all of that. ]
Oh, no, I'm taking a break actually. I needed a refresher.
[ He waggled his drink before taking a sip. ]
I thought I might go check out the game room or that museum actually.
[ He liked crowds, but sometimes they pressed to close, something he would never have noticed before his brush with death. Sometimes it was to much, to close, and he needed to step back. ]
