Winn - Snacks
[ Wow, bro, you... have it bad. Kirk would question falling hard and fast himself, but his own thoughts on monogamous relationships and love in general aren't what one might expect. More than once he has run from a relationship that was going well because the word 'love' came up. It makes him look oddly at those who attach so quickly in such a way, but whatever makes the two of them happy. Do you and all of that. ]
Oh, no, I'm taking a break actually. I needed a refresher.
[ He waggled his drink before taking a sip. ]
I thought I might go check out the game room or that museum actually.
[ He liked crowds, but sometimes they pressed to close, something he would never have noticed before his brush with death. Sometimes it was to much, to close, and he needed to step back. ]
no subject
The game room? [ winn perks up at that - he's been wanting to check it out, but he also didn't want to wander too far away from kitty in case she wants to dance or - anything, really. but then, this is what she wanted - for him to have fun with his friends - right? ]
Want some company?
[ winn's never been big on crowds. crowds are something you tolerate for the sake of the awesomeness that is comicon. ]
no subject
He smiles at Winn and nods, motioning for him to join him as he headed for said room with drink in hand. ]
I've heard they have some card games among other things. Sounds like a good way to relax away from the dance floor for a bit.
[ He saunters confidently through the fringe of the crowd, one hand tucked into his pocket. ]
no subject
sparing a last look to kitty - just in case she looks his way so he could let her know where he's headed with a nod of his head - winn follows along. ]
Not your scene?
[ there's a little surprise there; it's definitely not winn's first choice of a fun night (though, seeing how happy it makes kitty definitely pushes it up the list), but somehow he expected kirk to feel right at home at a party. maybe he should spend less time assuming things about the man, and more time getting to know who he actually is. ]
no subject
Oh come on Winn, she's a big girl, it'll be okay. She'll probably be happy that you went to have some fun instead of watching her like a stalker. ]
No, I like dancing, just every now and then I need a break, you know? Besides, when a party has a game room you always have to go try it out. You can meet the most interesting people over a card table.
no subject
he's not a stalker!! he just. doesn't want to miss his turn. have you seen the members of this fleet? it's like they kidnap off of magazines. ]
I've mostly met angry people over online poker - [ but that could be because he has this tendency to win a lot. ] but sure, let's give this real life interaction thing a try -
no subject
[ It would very well be a factor, but who even knew if Atroma had the capacity to understand something like 'attractive'. ]
Well, so long as you don't use any of your online poker tactics, I think you won't find to many angry people here tonight.
[ He stepped into the room and looked around, finding them a less populated table to sit at. ]
Consider it practice for if we ever get to a pleasure planet.
no subject
Are you implying I cheat?
[ it wounds him to his very core. or it would, if he weren't a hacker. it's actually a fair accusation, if wrong. he doesn't cheat, he doesn't have to, he's just a really good strategist. ]
Pleasure Planet? [ have a raised brow there, as he follows along. that sounds...very creepy. ]
no subject
[ Possibly, but attractiveness was a subjective thing - like your aesthetics in art. A rather hard thing to quantify. ]
Hardly, I'm just saying that maybe the cards turn up right for you more than a computer algorithm would normally allow.
[ He smirked at him, because he had not been thinking that til just then, but he hardly blamed him. After all, Kirk had cheated on more than one occasion himself. ]
Yeah, you know, a planet that is.... think like a tourist city like Vegas or Miami back on Earth, but make it a whole planet.
no subject
Winning streaks are a statistical fact.
[ smirking right back. maybe he should be defending his honor, but that's boring.
he makes a face at the explanation though. vegas and miami both sound pretty gross to him, in general. ]
So basically like here but with a lot more sequins. [ in the there's-no-going-out sense. he's not the biggest fan of the great outdoors, but he prefers ignoring it for the sake of the comfort of his apartment, or a fun night out with friends, not a crowded casino with angry security that doesn't take kindly to strategists. ]
no subject
Perhaps, but there is a point where you have to wonder if the math works in one man's favor quite so often. That in itself is a statistical improbability.
[ See? He knows math too.
Or not, because the mun may be talking out her ass. ]Heh, hopefully less sequins, but actually yes. Those types of planets survive mostly off trade and tourism, sometimes because they were colonized for just that reason with special permissions from the governments within that star system.
[ He wasn't quite sure that was entirely ethical, but so long as there were no sentient species being encroached on, governments could do as they wished in their systems. Star Fleet was, as much as they could be, a neutral force. ]
There aren't many, but there are some.
no subject
Improbability's not an impossibility.
[
so's this mun, it's all good]So, yeah, space-Vegas. I could go without. What's your game?
no subject
No, but it does make for suspiciousness.
[ He chuckled. ]
I dunno, I think you'd find one that you like. As for game - chess, poker... and pinball.
no subject
[ he sighs and shakes his head. ]
OK chess and poker I can beat you at on board -- let's pinball it up!
no subject
Beat me? My, someone's confident.
But pinball it is.
[ He makes for the machines, cool as you please, whistling when he saw the machines. ]
Wow, these are totally retro.
no subject
[ he nods with a smile. but for all his grandstanding, he wouldn't actually be upset to lose. it means he got a good and interesting game from a worthy opponent and a friend! so really, he wins anyway. he's always winning.
it's just fun to have some teasing every once in a while not be about him. ]
Oh my god they are - [ he runs a hand over the side of one of the machines: hello, childhood! ] wonder if they're retro for here too, or an import -
no subject
He grins a little at the way Winn touches the machine, Kirk moving to lean over it. It seemed the machine had been fit for endless play, no coins or credits or anything required. ]
Who knows? It's interesting they have one at all, considering that pinballs are an Earth form an entertainment. It's not impossible they would come up with the same sort of game, just... a touch unlikely.
But, hey, means we know how to play, right?
no subject
A distant moon inventing pinball, Earth-type gravity and oxygen levels on the ships bothering no one even though we're most of us from completely different dimensions, some from different planets - if we list everything that's unlikely we'll be here all year. Let's play!
no subject
[ He chuckled and stepped aside for the other to go first. ]
So you get the honor of going first ~
no subject
Don't worry, baby, you're in great hands - [ starting up the game, he plays with so much energy and enthusiasm, it's practically exercise. ]
no subject
Do you talk like that to every machine you get your hands on?
no subject
[ he doesn't talk to the toaster, ok. ]
no subject
Please don't tell me this is the way you talked to women.
[ He thinks it is, Winn. He thinks it is. ]
no subject
[ are you trying to distract him from the game, jim? he will win all the same!!! ]
no subject
Really? Like what?
[ Come on, you gotta share Winn. ]
