Just not a fan of small spaces. I was built to move and fly and I spent four years homeless, living in the elements a lot.

Four years? How? [It seemed a surprising thing for someone who was obviously famous at home and who had volunteered for such powers.]

Short version: On the run.

[Very short version. Where he and Midnighter had had nothing and no one else and had clung to each other. Where Apollo had shut down and Midnighter had been forced to protect both of them. Where Midnighter had to fight all the impulses in his head without any instructions, so Apollo had held him and promised not to let him go insane from it.]

It's a long story and sort of complicated and maybe boring. I can explain, I'm happy to, but you're getting forewarning.

[She shakes her head.] Raincheck? We can keep it a little lighter so we stay light on our feet. I was just surprised.

[He feels no strong need to share the story, he just doesn't shy from it either.]

I'm always light on my feet. When I'm on my feet at all. Flying is amazing.

You still think so after being able to do it all this time? We could always dance a little higher if you want. I can't fly, but I do something kind of like it. [It's no where near as freeing.]

[He steps in a bit more, wrapping an arm around her waist.]

I can handle the flying for both of us.

[And they start to drift upwards. That sunshine halo appears around Apollo's head. Keeping Kitty up with him takes no effort at all with his strength.]

[Having him doing the flying takes the control out of it for her which makes her stiffen initially. It's not like she hasn't flown with others before, but they were X-Men she'd come to trust already. Still, she relaxes after a moment.] My boyfriend's going to be jealous someone else is sweeping me off my feet. [Yes, yes, she knows he's gay.]

[He gives her that moment to relax. If she didn't, he'd put her down, but since she does, he continues their dance a couple of feet in the air.]

Well, I can always sweep him off his feet too, if that would help.

[It's a little strange trying to dance when you're being supported by someone else, but hey, she is a trained dancer even if that was years ago, she can make this work.]

I really want to give you permission for that. So much. But he's afraid of heights so it would be cruel.

Ah, well, I wouldn't want to traumatise your poor young man like that.

[He moves them easily... even if he does keep slipping into following instead.]

I'm sure he'd appreciate that. [She notices and just tries to get them smoothly back on track without pointing it out.] He's the one helping me work on something to generate energy like a sun.

Oh yeah, you mentioned that. He's an engineer of some kind?

He has the engineering augment. He works in IT at home. I have some practice with building and re-purposing things.

So a double lot of 'knowing the machine stuff'.

I have a very, very limited skill set, so that seems fairly impressive to me.

That's my guy. [Proud of him for it.]

He'd probably be more excited about the skill set you do have. He gets pretty awestruck over powers.

Well, I'd be awestruck by his, because my skills are just inbuilt.

Are you wanting to build up some new ones?

Oh. Um... I don't know.

I mean, I should probably think about it, huh?

I guess. Or you could just try stuff and see how it goes.

There is that. I just worry about breaking things a lot. Especially people. Most of the people I hang out with can take it but...

[He's very strong. Ridiculously strong. And most people are VERY fragile in comparison.]

Oh, what kind of skills were you thinking? Because, I was in more of a woodworking place and less of a breaking people with your hands place.

I once accidentally snapped a piece of rebar and lodged shrapnel two inches into the wall?

Well, that's bad for the wall. Could be extra bad on a space ship. But I'm sure there are...options.
