[Mostly continuations but if you want to thread with Vima: she's spending most of her time in the ballroom and wandering around the museum in a Thon mask.]

PADME AMIDALA

[cont from here]

My mom's had to attend a lot of functions over the years--that, or she's organizing them. She held a big conclave on Exis station not that long ago. I usually thought it was a waste of time even though she was always so busy.

I didn't realize Jedi used to attend parties like this, much less organize them.

Sure, we have to do things like this sometimes, at least at the level of Grand Master. Trying to restore the Jedi Order--there's more work on the ground, but it's kind of like showing that we're still strong enough to help the Republic.

I know I shouldn't be surprised that the Order has changed so much from your time, but parties are such a foreign concept, especially as displays of power.

[ Grand Masters, parties. Children. ]

Meeting the Jedi from my era must have been quite a shock.

BEVERLY CRUSHER

He's a Tchuukthai--my mother trained under him when she first became a Jedi, but they mostly keep to themselves. What's a triceratops?

They were a reptilian species that lived on Earth over 70 million years ago.

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-05 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
70 million? Wow. Were they sentient? Are they still around?

[civilizations last an inordinately long time where she's from species might too, ya never know]
dancingmd: (what do you know about this girl?)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-05-06 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
They were not sentient [That's what you think Bev!!!] - or at least, we've found no evidence that they were - but they were wiped out in a Mass Extinction Event that altered Earth's ecology significantly and eventually brought about the dominance of mammalian species instead.

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-06 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's some history. It's sad to think that there's a whole era of life that's completely gone now... but then if it hadn't, I wouldn't be talking to you here now.

...I'm still not sure how humans got from one galaxy to another, though.
dancingmd: (Default)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-05-07 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't give you the answer to that one. I don't even know if your galaxy exists in my universe. Our knowledge of galaxies outside the MIlky Way is very limited. Warp speed travel can only take us so far.
tobeajedi: Hands on arms (Contemplating sad holoprojections)

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-08 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hyperspace is the same way. It's a tunnel that lets you bypass lightspeed, but it's still distance to travel--and it's dangerous to find new routes.

...How did your Galaxy get that name, by the way? It's kind of a funny one.
dancingmd: (fond memories)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-05-09 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... It's an ancient human name for it. When you're on Earth and you look up in the sky on clear nights, you can often see one arm of the Galaxy - a dense cluster of stars that looked to the ancients like a river of milk.
tobeajedi: Satisfied smile (Totes a Jedi now)

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-10 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[A river of milk? All right, well--it's descriptive, if nothing else.]

And it stuck all the way until you got into space? [She grins.] That's cute. I like it.

Have you gotten to exploring that particular arm?
dancingmd: (Default)

[personal profile] dancingmd 2016-05-11 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Just a little - we've only explored barely a quarter of the whole galaxy.

SORA

[cont from here]

[She smiles back, appreciating the optimism.]

If there's one thing I've learned, things can change in the blink of an eye. And there are a lot of people in the Fleet who are really smart. It might not be me, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of us had some brilliant insight into terraforming, or even previous experience.
tobeajedi: Friendly smile (Sup master Thon)

FINN

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-03 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[cont from here]
It's good to have something to look forward to that doesn't involve getting hit over the head with something. [She grins.] I've explored the garden some... I'm glad that they still remember how things used to be and set that up. Things are pretty bad out there, but they haven't lost hope.
forcesensitive: (is it?)

[personal profile] forcesensitive 2016-05-03 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Finn snorts at her first remark, grinning a little. Yeah, yeah, he's been hit over the head a few times. But it's been fun anyway.]

Yeah. I think--well, I don't know how those terraforming machines work, but they'll be a lot better off if they can get it fixed. I thought about going out to explore some, but it feels kinda creepy out there. And some of the animals don't give you a warning before going all war games on you, if you know what I mean.
tobeajedi: Satisfied smile (Totes a Jedi now)

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-06 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know what you mean. [Vima shakes her head.] I ended up finding out just how fast I can run a time or two. The Force helps a little, but with all the sickness in the land, it kind of muddies things.
forcesensitive: (it could be)

[personal profile] forcesensitive 2016-05-06 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[At that he looks more focused.]

So even the Force knows this place is in trouble?
tobeajedi: SHE LOOKS SERIOUS. (This is my srs face)

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-08 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods.]

Yeah. I mean--when all the life in a place is suffering, or there's been a lot of death, it leaves a mark. Not so much in here, because of the gardens and the healthy life, but when I go out into the wilds I can feel it.
forcesensitive: (with the resistance)

[personal profile] forcesensitive 2016-05-09 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
And not as much in the cities, I bet.

[It's more of a musing statement than a question.]

Huh. I didn't know that. Maybe if I feel something weird, I should have one of you Jedi check it out?
tobeajedi: Meditating with eyes closed and levitating crystals (No look she can actually sit still)

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-10 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. [you're picking up this Forcey stuff pretty good, Finn. and she grins at the suggestion.] Do you mean that you do feel that kind of thing?
forcesensitive: (if you say so)

[personal profile] forcesensitive 2016-05-10 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's trying. He wants to learn more about it - when's he ever going to get a chance to talk to Jedi again?]

The couple of flights I made out over the forests were uncomfortable, yeah. But I thought it was just because the pollution was so thick I could hardly see what was going on. I don't like low visibility.
tobeajedi: SHE LOOKS SERIOUS. (This is my srs face)

[personal profile] tobeajedi 2016-05-11 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Vima grimaces.]

I don't either, not when it comes to piloting. I don't want to put my ship in danger. [With herself is one thing, but not with almost a dozen people.] Was it like the 'creepy feeling' you mentioned before, though? Or is that just regular creepy?
