It's good to have something to look forward to that doesn't involve getting hit over the head with something. [She grins.] I've explored the garden some... I'm glad that they still remember how things used to be and set that up. Things are pretty bad out there, but they haven't lost hope.

[Finn snorts at her first remark, grinning a little. Yeah, yeah, he's been hit over the head a few times. But it's been fun anyway.]

Yeah. I think--well, I don't know how those terraforming machines work, but they'll be a lot better off if they can get it fixed. I thought about going out to explore some, but it feels kinda creepy out there. And some of the animals don't give you a warning before going all war games on you, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I know what you mean. [Vima shakes her head.] I ended up finding out just how fast I can run a time or two. The Force helps a little, but with all the sickness in the land, it kind of muddies things.

[At that he looks more focused.]

So even the Force knows this place is in trouble?

[She nods.]

Yeah. I mean--when all the life in a place is suffering, or there's been a lot of death, it leaves a mark. Not so much in here, because of the gardens and the healthy life, but when I go out into the wilds I can feel it.

And not as much in the cities, I bet.

[It's more of a musing statement than a question.]

Huh. I didn't know that. Maybe if I feel something weird, I should have one of you Jedi check it out?

Exactly. [you're picking up this Forcey stuff pretty good, Finn. and she grins at the suggestion.] Do you mean that you do feel that kind of thing?

[He's trying. He wants to learn more about it - when's he ever going to get a chance to talk to Jedi again?]

The couple of flights I made out over the forests were uncomfortable, yeah. But I thought it was just because the pollution was so thick I could hardly see what was going on. I don't like low visibility.

[Vima grimaces.]

I don't either, not when it comes to piloting. I don't want to put my ship in danger. [With herself is one thing, but not with almost a dozen people.] Was it like the 'creepy feeling' you mentioned before, though? Or is that just regular creepy?

[forcesensitive]

Exactly. And it is dangerous out there.

[He furrows his brow, thinking.]

Yeah, it's just like that. I'm trained to deal with hostile conditions. When do you ever get to do missions in favorable conditions? This is something else.

[That makes her laugh a little.]

It's funny how you never get sent anywhere that things are going well. You're right though--I've been in dangerous spots before, and this is different from that.

Almost like they don't need us when things are going well.

Does it feel like other times the Force was acting like that? Or is that something you heard about but never got to see?

We're so unappreciated.

Hmm... well, you know the Isikaulit? It had a... a bad feeling around it for a while, to me, because of how it came to be in the Fleet.

[forcesensitive]

Huh. I didn't feel anything like that on there. How did it get to be in the Fleet?

[That was way before his time.]

It belonged to a species called the Nunnali. They had been infected by some kind of fungal disease--it made them violent and by the time the Fleet encountered it, they were too far gone to be cured. So... the people who fought them had to kill them. There wasn't anything else to be done.

[She rubs the back of her neck, feeling a little ridiculous to be saying that under a Thon mask.]

I wasn't involved in the fighting myself, but I could feel the aftermath the first time I went on board. But since everyone's been creating things and you know, being alive there, it's faded.

[forcesensitive]

[He follows along with what she's saying, nodding in the appropriate places.]

So they all had to be killed?

[Finn may not know anything about the Force, but even the idea gives him a sick feeling inside. He swallows, hoping to disperse the mental image by looking around at the pageant around him. And, to an extent, it works.]

But--oh. So it gets overwritten? Yeah, that makes sense.
