[Okay, she gets humans not wanting to... caboodle with robots in his world, but do robots not do the same with other robots?? This is new territory for her as well.]

No. Not... romantically at least.

[Giskard perhaps comes closest. After all, they were together for two hundred years and she knows from his calibration how much Daneel cared for the other robot. But still, that was different than her relationship with him.]

Well, remember, his desires aren't the same as mine or yours might be and I don't think he'd define loneliness the same way we would.

What are a robot's desires, then? I know nothing of them.

Ah. [She smiles.] Perhaps that is a question best left for him to answer. But what I specifically meant was that he does not experience sexual desire or attraction. Not that that is something all humans experience, of course, but it is still a difference between he and I.

None at all? While not to say desire is the pinnacle of existence, that really does sound quite... dull, to not ever experience it. But, he must feel something for you, no?

[Affection, at the very least. Why else enter a relationship?]

[Frown.] We are, first and foremost, friends and I would have not accepted his offer if I did not believe this was something that he wanted too. Emotional and romantic desires do not have to be intertwined with sexual ones.

Ah, forgive me. I should have clarified. When I asked if he felt something for you, I did not necessarily mean in a... well, sexual way.

Oh did you now? I'm going to be a bad influence on you.

Hardly. I've had many a friend recommend much worse. And now I at least have the knowledge to generally know when a recommendation is bad. Once upon a time I was considerably more naive.

Oh yes, I remember those times. Got myself into a considerable amount of trouble when I was at the Academy.

I suppose it's a part of being young. [She huffs out a small laugh.] Sadly, much of the time I forget to consider myself such.

You have a lot more responsibilities than many do at your age. Just... Try not to let them overwhelm you, if you can.

I'd hardly say so. Being a... tactical officer isn't all that difficult, I find.

[Trying to play it off because ha, Beverly is right but Riona doesn't want to let on just how right she is. Secrets to maintain and all that.]

[Beverly raises an eyebrow and glances sidelong at Riona. You know she meant more than your duties as a tactical officer, but she'll let it slide. This is a party, after all.]

Careful. Don't want to jinx us.

[She shoots Beverly a wicked grin as she approaches the drinks table. As she mulls over what she wants, she glances down at her chest.]

Thank you for helping me cover up my scar. [Though not much of it would have been visible above the top of her dress, it still would have made her very self-conscious. Her wedding ring hanging on her necklace just touches the top of where it was, and yet one could hardly tell it was there.] It's such an ugly thing.

[Beverly smiles softly. If she only had her tools from home, she could do more than cover up the scar, she could remove it. But, it is not to be, not for now at least.]
