"It's all right. These things can hit you in very unexpected moments, I know."

"I seem to only be doing that, tonight." He apologises with a wry smile as the dance ends. "Would you care for a meal or a drink? And we can talk about happier things, if you wish."

"I believe I could go for a snack, yes. I've been doing a lot of dancing, it'll probably be good to get off my feet."

A smile and he offers his arm to escort her off the floor.

"Then we had best head in that direction, as I would not wish to overly tire you!"

She laughs as she takes his arm. “Oh, don't worry. There is another to blame much more than you.”

[bythewaves]

"Oh? And who might this scoundrel be?" He says, amused. "Particularly since you seem quite content to while away your dancing hours with them?"

[dancingmd]

"Hardly a scoundrel. Daneel could hardly be one if he tried." She can't help but grin at that image. No, not a scoundrel at all.

"Daneel? I think I have met him. Someone very close to you, I see!"

[dancingmd]

Beverly lights up, happy that they have met. "He is. We are... I'm not sure what you would say in your world. Courting?" She frowns. That doesn't sound right. Too formal, and too much of an implication of engagement, of marriage, and that's not something they're intending. "Maybe not that. Are you familiar with the concept of dating?"

"We met in the garden? Green room?" He explains. "Forgive me, I missed the name of the location. And I am not - although I take it tis similar to courting?"

[dancingmd]

She nods. "The Green Musuem, I believe. And dating is not quite as... Formal, as courting is." She smiles and shrugs. "Not that the terminology matters all that much. What matters is our feelings for one another."

[bythewaves]

"Ah, I see." He nods "A step before something more definite, I assume?"

[dancingmd]

"Yes, that's a good way of putting it. Our relationship is still fairly new and we're more or less figuring things out as we go along, taking things as they come. Nothing is too definite here, after all."

Always she knows that at any minute, Atroma could take him away from her, or her from him, and there's nothing they can do about it, except to make peace with it and love each other as much as they can in the meantime.

Maglor nods, understanding.

"I am glad that you have found happiness here."

[dancingmd]

"Thank you. It kind of snuck up on me but... I am glad too, that I found him."

[bythewaves]

"Then I hope you have a long and happy life together here."

[dancingmd]

She gives him a soft "Thank you" before becoming thoughtfully quiet. A long and happy life with Daneel is... impossible, really. Especially not here. She's happier now, it's true, than she has been since she arrived, but here is still not home, for either of them and she cannot wish to be here longer than she has to be. If she could take him with her, and if he did not have responsibilities in his world, perhaps only then would it be possible.

Nevertheless, she appreciates Maglor's sentiment, and she does hope for happiness, while they are here.

Maglor touches her arm gently after a while, and offers her a cup of what looks like the wine.

"Here - at times, a stiff drink can offer cheer."

[dancingmd]

She smiles as she takes the cup from him, "Thank you. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to drift off there. Tell me, what did you and Daneel talk about?"

What she really wants to know is if they spoke of their telepathic abilities. It's important, she feels, for Daneel to make those connections with others who know what it is like to have them, but she would never betray his confidence on that matter either.

"Do not apologise." Maglor shakes his head in understanding. "Love is a veritable maze it seems at times, and it can be surprisingly hazardous to navigate."

He tips his head and casts his mind back. "Many things. We spoke of how his creators treated him, how they feared the work of their hands when it became more."

[dancingmd]

"It's unconscionable, how he is treated, makes my blood boil and yet... he still believes in us, in humanity."

[bythewaves]

"He is a good man with a great heart." He murmur softly. "I think he is a good match for you."

[dancingmd]

"He has been... a rock for me." Others too - Finrod not the least among them - but Daneel's steadiness and quiet support has been vital, especially in those difficult weeks after the calibrations.

"I am glad." Maglor says softly. "That comfort is one that will keep someone going, even in the darkest night."

[dancingmd]

"Indeed," she agrees softly before taking a sip of her wine. "It is much better to face such things together than alone."
