[ each morning starts with a brisk run on the treadmill located in the cargo bay, where one corner has been earmarked for 'recreation'. and once she's gotten properly sweaty, kate grabs as quick a shower as she dares (considering how heavily their water is still rationed). breakfast is a simple affair. by now, she's managed to source some actual eggs either from other ships or she's bought them with her own credits on the moon below. and bread is easy enough to bake! so toast and eggs makes a decent first meal of the day, which she prepares with her hair still wrapped in a towel -- mourning her hair dryer. indeed, the kitchen is a fairly reliable place to find her throughout the day.

or maybe you'll see her in transit, striding through the halls -- visiting her crewmates in their respective favoured spots. she's a bit of a social butterfly, not so keen to keep to herself. ]

[it's one of those weird things sara finds herself missing from home. or, more specifically, from oliver's lair-slash-arrowcave-slash-foundry-slash-workout-hideout. nothing she's found here yet has made her feel like she's really working out.]

[ she asks, wide-eyed and innocent (hah) as she steps off the treadmill -- dabbing her forehead with a towel. ]

And more my style than a treadmill. I'm getting out of shape the longer I'm in space.

[ something's wrong. kara is...suspiciously uncheery.

kate's head tilts. ] You okay?

Kate. Hey. Yeah, I'm— I.

Can we go somewhere?

[ -- doesn't even miss a beat: ] Iskaulit? One of the bars? [ ... ] Do you drink?

Sure. And yeah, but I probably can't get drunk.

Well, we can pretend. [ kate so chivalrously offers her arm to kara. ] C'mon, let's get outta here.

[ takes her arm and heads out. she mostly tries to keep her composure on the way over, but once they make it to the bar she flops her head dramatically on her arms on the table ]

Hey, sunspot. Chin up.

[ kate nabs a stool next to kara, and doesn't hesitate to curl her calloused fingers gently around her elbow. ] Tell me what's up.

[ kara flops her head to face Kate ]

I was being dumb and flirting with Hank but it turns out his ex is here and he, quote, "doesn't want to hurt me".

[ why isn't invisibility one of her superpowers ]

[ oh, hank, you are cruisin' for a bruisin'. ]

...Doesn't sound much like an ex to me. [ seriously. ] What, you figure he's still hung up on her? Or him?

[ no judgement here. ]

Well, clearly he still feels hung up on her. He did the whole "it's complicated" routine.

[ god dammit. ]

Boys suck. [ she scoots her stool closer to kara's and gives her arm a gentle squeeze. ] But that doesn't make you dumb for flirting. That makes him dumb for not being able to get over his ex. Those kinda stories never end well.

Yeah, except this just happened to me at home. Oh, perfect guy who knows your secret identity just happens to start working with you? Awesome. Except I got too nervous and waited too long and his ex who just happens to be I don't know, gorgeous and accomplished came to town to reconcile with him.

They're broken up now, but I wouldn't want to be a rebound, and anyway, I'm here. I was just kind of hoping for a fresh start.
