[that's all right. he already knows. he keeps tabs on everyone. he just wanted to hear how Malak would prefer to be called.]

Just Malak, then. It's a pleasure to meet you.

[he... holds out his hand for a handshake?]

[ Malak takes it; a handshake that's firm, that has maybe more strength than Malak himself realizes. ]

Are you all right? Are you still wounded?

[ He feels as though he should ask. ]

Ah, I'm fine. [he pats his chest, over his heart... not really thinking about it.] I've completely healed, thank you for asking.

And what about you? [a small laugh.] I mean, you haven't been involved in any fleet-wide drama like I have, but are you settling in well?

[treasureling]

Are you sure? [ He notices the gesture, knows that it usually signifies some lingering pain. Malak shifts forward, on impulse, and touches where Robin patted. He uses his power - sends a quiet pulse of pain-soothing, both emotional and physical. ]

Sometimes that can help.

[well, that tells him two things. 1) Malak is either not good at or intentionally refusing to speak at discussion length with him. 2) Malak has some kind of healing power, which is darling.

he looks a little surprised, pressing his hand back over that part of his chest. it was just enough to qualm the lingering weakness he'd felt there, since it'd regrown. he hadn't thought it enough to mention, but now he's grateful.

he smiles, very widely, charmed.]

That does feel better, thank you.

[ There's a certain satisfaction in helping - a certain empathy. But, beyond that, Malak doesn't take much pleasure in it. ]

You're welcome. [ Polite. ]

Does anyone settle in well, here? [ No, he hasn't. He wants to go home. ]

Some do. Those without homes, mostly, or those used to drifting.

[and then, very casually (if not out of left field):] You're very pretty, for a boy.

[treasureling]

[ A blink. He draws back, a hint, suddenly cautious. ]

I know.

[ Which might be the wrong thing to say. But he's always been considered attractive, even when he was sixteen or seventeen. The eyes, the lashes. ]

[oh, he giggles.]

What's your home like?

[treasureling]

Islands. Mountains. Forests. A lot of goats.

[ Is this an actual romantic advance? Malak's surprised to find himself not entirely unreceptive. With a woman he might be more cautious. But it might be nice to be distracted. ]

And very beautiful cities.

[it's a little hard to tell if it's an advance or not. maybe he's just... really friendly. maybe the bedroom eyes are a permanent fixture.]

So not a city like this, then.

[he gestures to the moon around them--very drab, very functional. they have bits of culture in their design, yes, but nothing compared to the other two moons.]

[treasureling]

It's planned, like this. But the buildings show off, too. And the streets are cleaner. Steeper roofs. Sharper angles.

Mm... A proud people?

[he extrapolates, looking at the flatter rooftops as he imagines what Malak must be talking about.]

[treasureling]

Very.

[ The women are certainly proud. ]

[birdsbirdsbirds]

Well, that's not a bad thing.

Would you like to go somewhere and talk for a while? [he gestures towards, I don't know, a bar...] I'd hate to keep you outside like this.

[treasureling]

[ His breath stops for a second. He's not sure what to do with that when it's an actual question. Is this romantic? Is it something else? ]

Yes. Sure.

[it remains difficult to tell. he's all smiles as he starts walking, since he assumes that the other is going to follow him... and he will quickly find them both a seat in a nearby tavern where they can settle down and chat.]

[treasureling]

[ And here he is, across a narrow table from someone who's just had his heart ripped out. Literally. Malak can't stop taking little glances at Robin's chest. ]

How long have you been with this... reality show?

[he notices. he doesn't say anything. he knows how strange it must be to consider--that's good, actually, since it means Malak was paying attention.]

Since the beginning of this... "Cycle", as they're calling it. About four months, now.

[treasureling]

Is it.

Awful?

[the question gives him pause... but he smiles at him, warmly.]

To be quite honest, this is the least awful place I've been in a very long time.

[treasureling]

Oh.

I'm sorry.

Oh, don't be. Think of it this way: my time here is something to celebrate.

That depends.
