No. There's always that propensity to wanting more.

[ Even if she did accidentally piss off giant scary men called 'Man-Eater' so much that they cursed her.
At least she tried. ]

[ To her, it was that simple. ]
If I didn't help people then who would?

I told you we got along.

[ It was mildly exhilarating . . . and terrifying. ]

[ Being able to empathise and understand someone, even without having telepathy herself - that had been amazing, and for the first time Hermione had felt as though she had someone who just knew her, even when Charles wasn't dipping into her mind. ]

[ And he's a hard man to stop. Charles is no less stubborn than Erik, it simply lends itself to a different point of view. ]

[ Instead she waved bits of gold in their faces and stood defending Charles with a sword. ]

[ It's strange to be experimenting with his telepathy - to have avenues where he could do such a thing. His trust in Hank is unquestionable. It's the trust in himself that's been shaken so badly. ]

[ Tilting her head up, she smiles. ]
I don't think we'll come across any here, but - I don't have any gold with me.

[ Why does he ask anything. ]

[ She really, really does, and her face scrunches up. ]
It's things like 'oh, a practical God proposed to me', and 'my immortal best friend keeps throwing himself on top of people to save them', and did I mention the time that a Jabberwock, like from the poems, came to life and tried to destroy our castle?
no subject
I never did like that poem anyway. Too nonsensical for my tastes.

[ She shrugs a shoulder, trying to play it off. ]
That's just how that world is. I got used to it.
no subject
Isn't that worse?
no subject
[ Her voice is quiet, too, to match his. ]
If it becomes acceptance because there's no escape then that's worse. If it becomes home, if it has a place in your heart, and you care? You worry? I think that's different. Fighting for your heart and fighting because you have no other choice are different things.
no subject
So long as you know the difference.

[ Hermione breathes out. No one really knows that she could have abandoned the Drabwurld, gone back home like Remus had, but - what would she have done there? She was scarred and broken and changed, and no one would understand her anymore. She would miss the people she cared about too much. ]
The choice isn't easy, but you can't just avoid it.
