[ha ha, "muscle"]

Actually - it's part of my mutation, the uh - muscle and whatnot. My augment is lab support.

So, like Kitty. And [ he never caught erik's name so it's going to be: ] ... the other one with the power of magnetism.

And your mutation is just feat of strength...

[ that would be kinda lame. compared to the other mutants he knows. ]
beathach: (02)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-29 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ah - Erik, right. [Kitty just how many people did you know. But he's impressed that Erik actually explained it to someone, too. He looks a little sheepish]

It's - part of it? I guess the easiest way to put it is that I have another . . . form. It's just easier to walk around like this. [for all sorts of reasons]
sandhate: (pic#10048151)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-07-31 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ he looks skeptical for a moment but really, what does he know. he knows nothing. ]

Is it be rude of me to ask about it? Kitty said that mutants aren't exactly everyone's favorites. I got the same impression from the Walking Magnet- I mean, Erik.
beathach: (96)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-07-31 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
No, not at all. It's just - not something I'm used to. And it's one of those things that's - honestly, it's easier to show than explain. It comes off as a little ridiculous sometimes.

[at the nickname, though . . . he can't help but grin] No, unfortunately we aren't. It's a little more extreme in Kitty's world; in mine, the world sort of just learned we exist. Erik and I are from the same place.

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-01 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
You could've fooled me. [ erik didn't sound as easy going about things compared to hank here, but then again, he was wondering why the mutants haven't just taken over. anyway. ]

It's alright, you don't have to show me if you don't want to. [ he shrugs ] The fact that each of you have a different ability is already impressive enough.
beathach: (95)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-01 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[that's because Erik is too serious sometimes and takes being a mutant very seriously. Hank does too, but he's at least better at talking about it.

He smiles a little wryly]
Well, you saw some of it. The only thing to really show you is what I really look like. The others here are definitely impressive. Most of their powers are unique to them, too, which makes it all the more impressive, I think.
sandhate: (pic#10403419)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-02 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ no kidding, imagine an army of you guys. special platoons for different terrains, for different scenarios- a thought which he refrains from vocalizing. thanks erik.

a short laugh comes out of him instead. ]

Well. [ he places his hands on his hips ] I'll show you mine, if you show me yours?
beathach: (24)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-03 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
[he blinks in surprise at the offer - it's one thing to talk about it, sure. That much he's better at, admitting to what he is. But actually showing someone?

Well. It wasn't as if he had much to lose]

I can't - uh, do it here, but if you want? [regardless he's going to double-check. Because who knows, maybe he's hearing things strangely]

—wait, show me yours?
sandhate: (pic#10386460)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-03 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Eh... [ he shrugs with a lazy grin. ] I'm bluffing. I don't have anything like you and your friends have.
beathach: (33)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-04 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Hank raises both eyebrows]

I don't have anything like what my friends have, either. At least, comparatively.

[what is having pride in your powers, this guy isn't good at it]
sandhate: (pic#10403453)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-04 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hah!

[ of course, he wouldn't have what his friends have. silly of him to even think that since their mutations are clearly unique to each of them! funny guy, this hank ]

Okay, you're right. I don't think you should show me here. [ he jerks his head towrads the windows again, a few heads are peering out of it and you could hear the why are they just standing there ] But luckily, we're on the same boat.
beathach: (59)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-04 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[what are you even talking about Anakin he hasn't tried to be funny!

He turns to glance at the women and immediately looks away, sheepishly rubbing at his neck. Surely they were used to this by now, given just how many visitors he's had up her while he was working, but - maybe not. Oops]

If I showed you here I'd probably scare the very nice women staring at us. [and that'd be bad. But . . . he peers over the edge of the roof, almost casually, as if he's gauging the distance.

Because he is. He glances back to Anakin]
We are? [now there's humor in his voice] Do you have powers you aren't confident in too?
sandhate: (pic#10209115)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-07 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ he mumbles something about 'not the type of woman he wants staring at him' and moves to grab a wrench from his pack. it's easy to open himself up to the force here, thanks to the life force around them. he floats a wrench mid-air as a demonstration. ]

I have uh "powers" that I am confident in. There's more to it but it... get complicated. Confidence isn't really an issue.

[ he tips head at hank. now he's missing the joke. typical ]

Confidence comes with exposure. Practice. [ a shrug ] Maybe you just need a bit of both.
beathach: (24)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-07 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Hank blinks in surprise at the now floating wrench; it isn't the first time he's seen objects floating via someone else's power - he was friends with Erik, after all - but every time he does it's hard to hide how impressed he is. He's always impressed with other people's powers, regardless of if they're a mutant or not]

Wow - what do you mean by "complicated"?

[he looks a little sheepish, but he nods]

It's the - exposure part I have trouble with, but I'm trying to work on it.
sandhate: (pic#10403462)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-07 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
My gift is from my connection to the Force - and that is the energy that encompasses all things, that exists in all things. It gets complicated because there are different philosophies of what and where the Force exists.

[ he floats the wrench back into his pack with only mild concentration ]

Well, you sure exposed me to it. Good job, buddy.
beathach: (162)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-07 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
It's a very impressive gift. [he very badly wants to ask how it works, or what philosophy Anakin subscribes to, but he's a lot better at holding back nowadays. Especially with things he just wants to try to figure out with science] That does sound complicated, though. I can only imagine all the different philosophies for something like that.

[he considers for a moment, before he pulls his communicator out of his pocket. He can't show him in person, no, but he can show a picture at the very least -

Once he finds it he holds it out to Anakin, looking wry. The picture is of two people - a blue, furry guy, and a blue, scaled woman, posing together in what looks like one of the museums from the poisoned moon]

Now you've been exposed, more or less.

sandhate: (pic#10348267)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-08 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ he leans over and looks at the picture. he would have noticed the attachment to blue color scheme but he's more impressed about how sweet it is. something so purely sentimental isn't really allowed in the order, it's frown upon at the very least.

he looks at hank and raises an eyebrow. ]

That's you? Wow. [ a beat. then he points at the blue woman. ] You're a lot more attractive in the picture.
beathach: (96)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-08 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
[even if he knows, logically, he won't get the reaction he always expects, it still somehow surprises him no matter what. The easy acceptance people here seem to have to his true form. It throws him off every time, and little by little it's helping get rid of that expectation.

Still. Anakin]

You're funny. [he's grinning, though]
sandhate: (pic#10348266)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-08 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ he laughs easily. ] I'm hilarious.

Jokes aside, you don't look that bad. You look like a wookie who's lived on Coruscant a bit too long and found a can of paint. I can't even imagine how hot it would get... [ he looks at hank ] How are you not in that form now?
beathach: (20)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-08 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
That's what you think.

I don't - know what a wookie is, though. Or Coruscant. [at the question he shrugs easily] I take something that suppresses that part of my mutation. I wasn't born that way, I sort of . . . did it to myself by accident. The serum temporarily reverses the changes.

And it gets really hot, just for the record.
sandhate: (pic#10048151)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-08 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Just think you in that form, but brown. They're awful in the heat, they smell and they know it and no one is happy. Coruscant is the planet I live -- lived on.

[ he sort of grimace at the accident but covers it politely - obi-wan did teach him manners - with a cough ] Is that what you do - try and change the mutations?
beathach: (59)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-08 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
[he wrinkles his nose a little] Fur and heat don't tend to mix, so I can only imagine.

[he catches the grimace but doesn't comment on it, he knows better. He shakes his head, and now it's his turn to wince a little - he still hasn't found a way to explain it where it doesn't come off as terrible in some way] No, not exactly - when I was a little younger, I wanted to - hide my mutation, but keep the powers it gave me. As you can see . . . it sort of backfired terribly.
sandhate: (pic#9853983)

[personal profile] sandhate 2016-08-11 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ He tilts his head, confused and unsure but in good humour. ] As far as I can tell, it looks to me you succeeded.
beathach: (24)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-08-11 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
[he appreciates the good humor]

Mm, eventually. And it more or less works the way I meant it to. [he shrugs a shoulder] It's sort of . . . complicated now. Uh - how I feel about it, I mean. A good sort of complicated.
