First Command /\ Video
Who: Stephanie Amell, and YOU!
Broadcast: Video
Action: Marsiva Hospitality Deck
When: Right now! FABULOUS!
Ah, hello?
[ Oh, look, a new face! A rather young new face, wearing what most (if not all) the Thedosians of the Fleet will likely be able to recognize as a Grey Warden's uniform/armor/thingummy. Her accent is distinctly Ferelden, and she sounds a bit uncertain, but smiles at the camera anyway. ]
This is... rather strange, I must admit. I'm certain this isn't the Fade, which must mean it's real, even though I don't really see how it could be.
I don't suppose anyone could tell me what's going on?

video;
I have a cousin. I. huh.
[ she shakes her head a bit to clear it, and smiles ]
Well, this has been considerably enlightening, Master Tethras, I have to say. Thank you for that.
I don't suppose you could... tell me anything about her? [ she shakes her head sharply ] Sorry, I'm sure you have better things to do than tell a little girl about some probable cousin she may never meet.
video;
Varric is fine.
[He waves his hand airily.]
-- And miss the chance to tell a good story? Please.
Hawke, the Champion of Kirkwall. Bought back the family estate after a risky mission in the Deep Roads, restored her family to nobility, made friends in high places, saved some lives... Not bad for an apostate.
The story is that Leandra Amell fell in love with some dashing Fereldan apostate after meeting him in Kirkwall. [He leaves out the reasons WHY he was in Kirkwall-- that's too much information for a first meeting.] The Amell family was... less than impressed. Leandra cut her ties and ran off to Ferelden, and eventually settled in Lothering. They had three children. Two were mages-- it was strong on both sides of the family. The Champion was the oldest, and then there were the twins: Bethany and Carver.
video;
[ Oh, he does have a flair for the dramatic, doesn't he? It definitely makes for an interesting listening experience. ]
Champion of Kirkwall? Impressive titles must be genetic.
They lived in Lothering? We went through Lothering after Ostagar! [ To think, she'd been this close to people she was actually related to! The world seems so small, sometimes. ]
[ laughs ] Maker, but this is odd. How did they end up back in Kirkwall?
video;
She did go toe-to-toe with a Qunari leader. Maybe your family just has a knack for this sort of thing.
[He smiles at that. So this Warden did go through Lothering. He's never met the Warden personally; he only knows stories about the Hero secondhand-- spread by the bard Leliana, no doubt.]
What if I told you a dragon did it?
Re: video;
A dragon? [ she laughs ] I'd say you were embellishing, probably. I've yet to meet a dragon inclined to help rather than eat.
video;
[He watches her carefully, judging her reaction against the stories he's heard.]
video;
Flemeth! Can't she keep her nose out of anything?
[ pause ]
What was the "little favor"? The favor she asked us for saving us was certainly not little.
[ She doesn't sound angry or anything, though. She is NOT one to complain that Flemeth sent Morrigan along with them.
She might complain that she didn't keep Alistair in trade, but.... ]video;
[He adjusts his gloves.]
She gave Hawke an amulet and told her to deliver it to the Dalish Keeper in the area. Ended up housing part of her soul, or something. All I know is I was there, Daisy said some things at an altar, and suddenly there was a lady.
Must've been cramped.
Re: video;
She's not dead. [ Stephanie sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose ] Of course she isn't. That would've been too easy.
video;
video;
[ sighs ]
Her daughter Morrigan? Was a... friend. Of mine. [ They did the do. A lot. Stephanie was very much in love. ] Flemeth's plan was to eventually use magical rituals to steal Morrigan's body, it's how she's survived so long. So we... killed her. To try to save Morrigan.
But of course it wouldn't be that easy.
video;
So the Witch of the Wilds is really a witch and not just a dragon with a penchant for dramatic entrances. Sounds like that's going to bite us in the ass later.
On the other hand, without Flemeth's help there'd be no Hawke. That's... not something I really want to think about.
video;
No, I don't suppose that would be good either.
[ not that she knows what Hawke did exactly to become Champion of Kirkwall and all that. Doesn't matter. Honestly it would be enough that Hawke was Varric's friend. ]
How did she end up fighting a qunari?
video;
It's a long story. Basically someone took an important relic. They didn't tell us about it, they just said they were waiting for a ship to come get them after they wrecked off Kirkwall's shore. But it took... years. And in those years, the leader, this Arishok guy, he got more and more angry. There was some tension between the Qunari and the Chantry, obviously, which didn't help. And someone assassinated a high profile Qunari convert, which also didn't help.
So the Arishok took over the city. Killed the Viscount. He respected Hawke, though, and challenged her to a duel. Called her... basalit-an, or something.
Re: video;
Basalit-an is... if I remember what Sten told me correctly, it means a bas, a non-Qunari, who is worthy of respect.
video;
[His voice roughens. It's a point of bitterness.]
It's a shame more people didn't share that view.
video;
I had a dear friend who was Qunari. I'm sorry to hear the situation in Kirkwall had to devolve into violence.
