[Kitty is on screen looking much more feminine than last time.]

Does anyone have any apples or honey or anything close to either from the last stop? I was...just thinking about it today. [Softer.] Not that I even know how to tell when sundown is in space.

[But she knows it's close to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, but nailing down a date would take calculating she can't do based on a moon that's not even here. She's not really a religious person and has some definite issues with god especially after everything she's been through back home, but the traditions remind her of better times when she was young with her family. She didn't think about it much in the last place because they didn't run off of a calendar she was familiar with, but here it brings back memories.]

Anyway, I'd trade for some if you do. We'll work something out.

Leshana tovah. [She's wishing people a good year in Hebrew, but she doesn't bother explaining the meaning.]

Le-sha-na to-vah

[ he tries to repeat it, slowly. the sounds are foreign and strange, but hey, he's dedicated himself to learning sindarin, quenya, klingon...what's hebrew, right? ]

Leshana tovah, Kitty. [ his accent is thick, it'll take a while to get right. but points for trying? ]

[Points and a kiss. Seriously, he gives her all kinds of warm feelings.] It is kind of like a toast the way I said it. You can also drop the le.

What does the 'le' mean?

To or for. [She finds it pretty cute that he wants to know. Not surprising though. She would too. They really have so much more in common that it might seem at first glance.]

Oh so it's like, hold up your wine glass, [ miming the action ] "to a good year!"?

You got it. [While his arm is up she'll just take this opportunity to slip her arms around him and snuggle in close. Mmm, comfy. She could stay like this forever. Oooor until she realizes she just got another message. She reluctantly pulls back to look at her device. She takes a deep breath and types out a message before showing the screen to Winn.]

Kurt's going to hate this.

[ he pulls her in closer, kissing the top of her head. he wants to believe kurt would understand why she needs to do this. ]

Do you want me to come with? I can hang out at the library and wait for you?

Protective friend. He was a full-fledged X-Man when I was just a stray kid. Barely a teenager and fresh off the streets. [Strange to think how fast she went from a rising star of skipping grade levels and soloing in ballet performances and living in a nice suburban home to fending for herself, homeless and hunted. Life moved so fast.

And speaking of protective, she shakes her head. She's not ready to have the very human boy that she loves around even a former follower of Apocalypse. Even in the library. It's Erik. She knows what he can do.]

I'll be okay. It's going to be awhile though. Hang out with me until then?

He may not like it, but, he wants you to be happy. [ of that, he has no doubt.

it should probably have occurred to him to be afraid, but from everything kitty's told him - which wasn't a whole lot - it didn't sound like erik is a bad guy, even now. ]

Of course. I really don't mind tagging along if you want me there. I always got stuff to do on the Iskaulit.

I basically want you with me always. But...protective girlfriend? I don't think he'd do anything. If he wanted that he wouldn't have told me he was one of the horsemen. [He could have just attacked her then when she was so trusting.] But it was humans they were wiping out at home. [And you're human. She's just not ready to put him at any kind of risk when it's someone as powerful as Erik.]

it makes him worry for her and feel worthless and small and weak and less. ]

...wanna ask Kara to tag along? [ it's mostly a joke, but yeah now he's worrying about her. if she's worried that's gotta mean there's a reason to worry, right? ]

[She wasn't worried for herself. Just him. She meant "overly" protective girlfriend before.] No. It'll be okay. Hank and Charles believe in him. I want to.

And it's a good way to start the new year.

[She strokes his cheek.] I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you worry. [She definitely didn't mean to make him feel weak and less and she doesn't realize that it did. She still struggles with the balance of not treating humans—especially the untrained—as ill-equipped.]

[ he trusts hank. he trusts kitty. he nods. ]

Hey, how do you say 'I love you' in Hebrew?

[ he's gonna worry now, so he really doesn't have a comeback for that one. ]

[She smiles softly at him. Even when she messes up she loves this man so much. She may not trust him around a potential superbattle, but she has so much respect for everything else about him.]

I would say ani ohevet otcha. And you would say ani ohev otach. [She says this last bit slower for him.]

[ he doesn't trust himself around a potential superbattle either. he doesn't trust himself around a potential regular old battle. he can barely make it through a training session with jim without getting his ass handed to him.

he listens carefully, trying to memorize the sounds. ]

Ani ohev otach, Kitty Pryde. [ kissing her forehead. and yeah, all those made up language studying sure is helping him with the dreaded 'ch' sound. he still doesn't get it right. don't worry, he'll keep practicing! ]

[He's just definitely not "less" to her because of it. Winn is always the most where's she's concerned. Listening to him tell her he loves her in Hebrew right now is more touching than she she would have guessed. She has to draw a slow breath to keep herself from being more emotional than she's comfortable with.]

Ani ohevet otcha, Winn Schott. [She rests her head on his shoulder and hugs him tightly.]

[ he's less to himself. but this - this he can do. let her teach him a language that means so much to her. he holds her tightly, smiling. ]

It has a great ring to it.

[She's actually better at Russian, since she was able to converse in it with someone regularly, but Hebrew does mean more to her. Her grandfather taught her the first words she knew in it.]

It does, doesn't it? I'm glad I'm going to start the new year with you. [She hopes she finishes it with him too. It's too far into the future to dare looking but she hopes to see him there if she could.]

[ he's still counting on that new year's kiss at midnight. it feels like so long ago when he blurted the idea and freaked her out and now...they're almost there. if he has any say in the matter, they'll finish every year together. ]

[No freaking out now. Of course she wants to kiss him on that New Year's Eve too. Not that she wouldn't kiss him for this one!] Yeah? I think you might be right. Mostly because you're going to be there.
