[ It's about time. Pheobus' Crow isn't generally one to feel at all claustrophobic but between the strange hair-changing girl and the captain wannabe (though now he supposes he actually is captain, of all the misfortune) he's more than ready to spread his wings and work out the irritable little kinks that have been starting to build in the back of his mind.

The moment they're docked and the main doors open, Crow is gone from the ship and takes to the air. While the mall strip-like areas remain oddly bare and unwelcoming there's at least plenty of room for him to spread his wings and ample space to perch. The courtyard looks nice and all that, but something about having the vacuum of space above his head isn't quite so comforting as an actual roof.

So if you happen to be making your way through the outer ring of the way-station you might just hear the sound of a crow, cawing. Or maybe you're just crazy. Birds in space? Pshaw. ]

Maybe a mastermind and a bunch of followers... [ he'd agree--it can't just be one person. ] As long as it's got a consciousness, it's a someone. They've got to want us here, or none of this would work.

I will admit it all seems rather pointless... The constant heckling is most inconvenient.

[ he makes a noise of agreement before sitting down, pressing the heel of his hand against his eye. ]

We've only been here around a week. Maybe we'll find out more. I don't think there's any other way than waiting.

[ ugh. he hates waiting. now he knows how kairi feels. ]

Do you intend to leave the station then? Or are you planning on investigating it before you depart. [ Try doing it for a whole year Riku THEN YOU'LL SEE. ]

[ YEAH he already hates this he is so glad kairi gets to train now ]

I'm not a pilot--I wouldn't know how to fly one of these ships, anyway, even if it wasn't on auto-pilot. Even if I tried, it probably wouldn't have enough fuel to reach another planet.

That voice said that we were gonna be close to one later in the month, and if we stopped here, maybe they're getting fueled up. That'd mean they probably only have a week's worth of fuel, and it might not last.

So you do mean to follow that large ship. [ Him? He's perfectly happy to stay on the station and far, far away from his self-proclaimed "captain." That and there's much more room to fly around here like this. It's a much better environment. ]

Either one's a risk. [ but it looks like most people plan to follow the mothership--and he has to make sure that all of them get home. ] I'll take my chances. Maybe there's something on that planet that could give us an idea of what's in store.

What about you?

Can't stand those cramped ships. It's much more pleasant for me here even if the courtyard appears to be entirely fake~ Fowl aren't meant to be cooped up in tiny quarters. [ Budgies and lovebirds aside. Weirdos. Crow tilts his head. ]

Ideally, I shall wait for a suitable Master to come along.

[ riku blinks at him--and where he would usually not ignore the rest of crow's statement, he seems all-focused on... ]

A suitable... what?

[ Ah, good. Phoebus' Crow had hoped he would. He knows it tends to garner interest or confusion and that is exactly what the Tale had banked on. He's glad to see that even after two thousand years, Humans never failed to rise to the occasion. ]

Master. The sort with servants, mind you. I've been made aware that there are several other more...liberal interpretations of the concept, but rest assured that is not the particular one I propose.

[ riku relaxes--crow can't know what's on his mind... though he wonders what exactly he means. ]

So you're looking for some sort of king, or noble...? I guess I'll keep my eyes peeled. I don't know anyone like that.

Oh, I'm not that picky. It can be anyone really, so long as they fit the right criteria. [ He notes the way Riku's demeanour changes curiously. Phoebus' Crow wonders what that was, just now... Hmm. ]

Anyone? [ that's strange. riku's gone from cautious to curious. maybe he can help crow find whoever he's looking for? ] What kind of criteria?

They simply need to have a desire. Something they wish to accomplish, though it can be anything they want really. If they have something they want more than anything else, something they cannot accomplish or achieve with their own abilities...then that is the sort of Master I seek.

[ He sits up a little straight, fidgets and flaps less. For a moment he looks less a crow and more akin to something human. Not in appearance, but his general gesture and manner; his eyes are keen, too. ]

[ he's not sure how to answer that. truth be told, even he wants something like that--but it's something crow can't provide for him. he knows it's something he has to do himself, so he can't even help. well, how's that for helpless?

... on top of that, he feels like the entire world is stuck still. why does he feel like this is a pivotal moment? ]

I'll keep an eye out. Everyone wants something. What happens if you don't have a Master?

[ Evasive. How...cute. And interesting. Most people would ask what sorts of things he can do, but this one just accepts it. Almost as if he lacks curiosity? But that doesn't feel quiet right. ]

I remain as I am. Really there's no consequence for it other than staying a bird. Did you expect there to be a downside?

[ he shrugs. ]

You know how fairytales g--

[ wait, crow. animal. might not know how to read, thus doesn't know how fairytales go. uhhhhh... though, he said that he remains as he is. he gives him a glance over. ]

... unless being a crow is your normal form, most people would think being stuck as a crow would be a downside.

[ ...Ah. He almost said it--and Crow can't help standing up a bit straighter as he does, head turning to face him straight-on instead of from the side. Part of him wants Riku to finish that sentence, to hear that title spoken aloud. The admission that he exists.

He's tickled. ]

The answer to that is both yes...and no. I need only be as capable as my Master desires me to be, so whether I am a crow or not depends on them.

Hm...

[ he laughs a little. so the person in charge decides what crow is or isn't? ]

No matter how you look at it, that sounds like a fairytale. [ he exhales. ] Can a Master order you to be free?

[ Bless this young, foolish child♥ ]

But of course; they can give whatever order they wish if I am under Servitude. I would be duty-bound to obey.

[ that just makes him make a confused, if slightly pleased noise. ]

I guess, if you're lucky, you could end up with someone like that.

I don't believe in luck. [ But he sounds amused all the same. ]

Just human nature. Most Masters I have served have enjoyed my...versatility too much to desire such a thing.

[ that hits him a little too close to home; his head bows slightly and his jaw clenches. he's not unused to the concept of being used as means to an end, despite what it does to him or the people around him. what happened as a result will never truly heal, and he knows it, and he really hates the idea of crow going through the same thing.

he tries to sense him out, and it's strange to--there's smoke, lots of it. incense, tobacco--it settles on him like a dense fog, and he's not quite sure what to make of it. ]

How long have you been like this?

[ And there it is--in the duck of his head, the knitting of his brows; the way his shoulders tense just slightly. All it begs is the one question Riku is only too willing to supply and Crow is suddenly quite glad for his emotionless face. Surely he'd have a disconcerting grin upon it otherwise.

Pity isn't the same as ambition, but he can still make use of it. ]

Two thousand and nine years, by my own world's timing. Not too sure what it would be all the way out here.

[ that's a big number.

it's a huge number, and riku's not quite sure what to say. two thousand and nine years of that? he's kept going for around two, now--times a thousand and plus a few more... he's not sure he could keep it up for that long, honestly. how does crow do it, then? ]

I think it's still the same.

[ but what can he do for him, in that case? riku doesn't want anything crow could attain for him--it's solely to do with his heart and his strength. ]
