[It sure is a lovely day actually pretty much indeterminate time period out here in the vast darkness of space, isn't it? I bet everyone's enjoying themselves, getting a chance to get off their dinky little ship and stretch their legs. Even on this shitty, empty little waystation.

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! It should hopefully be a nice low-pressure way to do some action tagging with each other.

No, not often. It's a bit too thick and hurts my neck sometimes. [hmm... she looks a touch dejected] Although I may need to cut it soon anyway, perhaps then I'll wear it up more often.

Oh... [he looks more sympathetic than most boys probably would] ...How come you have to cut it?

It's... impractical. [she says this in a very practiced tone, like it's something that she's been telling herself all day]

With the hot water we're allowed, and the communal nature of the shampoo, it's impossible to wash it well. If it was shorter, I'd be able to take better care of it.

Oh... and you don't want to cut it? And you can't just, like... keep it in a braid most of the time?

I don't want to, but I will. I think it will be a good thing in the long run.

Man, I couldn't wait to get mine cut.

[she does mean it, she feels bad for laughing at anyone. Anyway, she points at a point just a bit higher than her chin]

I was thinking something like that? Not as short as your hair, but enough to be manageable.

Oh! Wow... yeah, that's really short.

You wouldn't be able to braid it or anything.

That's true, but it doesn't often get in my face. And I-- [she rarely does physically exerting activities that require ponytails and the like. But she doesn't like drawing attention to her physical disabilities so she shrugs a little] can always find a head band of some sort if it gets to be a problem.

You don't do braids and stuff just for fun?

Not very often. When I was little I wore my hair in pigtails, but now that I'm older I mostly wear it down.

I bet it would be really pretty braided.

[heh :') she fiddles with her bangs a bit, pleased but embarrassed]

Maybe. I could wear really fancy braided styles in celebration before I cut it.

While it's still long, that would actually be really helpful! I wouldn't want to take up too much of your time, but any morning when you're available and our ships are near one another...

[ah, although... the excitement clashes with a touch of embarrassment]

As long as... erm, my hair isn't at its best right now. I'm sorry if it's unpleasant to touch. [she's been doing her best, but three minutes of good water and the small amount of shampoo only does so much]

I really... don't have anything else to do. I get pretty bored on my ship, so...

[and he seems totally undaunted by the idea of just doting on her hair, in whatever state it's in]

[this is legit touching to her. She's been afraid to ask for this sort of help from her crew mates so this is like ;A; the kindest]

If you... I mean, I feel like I'm imposing, but the help would be really wonderful.

It's not imposing at all. I used to do this stuff all the time, and... I guess the last places I've been weren't... really great for this kind of stuff.

[communal showers and no friends, and then no hot running water to speak of before that, makes him pretty homesick for playing with hair and doing stupid distracting girly things]

[She sighs a little without realizing that she was holding in that breath. After a moment of indecision she bows her head a little bit and smiles softly]
