[It sure is a lovely day actually pretty much indeterminate time period out here in the vast darkness of space, isn't it? I bet everyone's enjoying themselves, getting a chance to get off their dinky little ship and stretch their legs. Even on this shitty, empty little waystation.

Where are you, droot flooters? What are you up to? Stay out of trouble, now.]

[ooc: hi everyone! I thought I'd give this a try and see how the game liked it. What we have here is a mass mingle post. Rather than everyone making a bunch of different posts about landing on the station, everyone is invited to post a parent comment with their character out and about, doing something. Everyone else is invited to look at who's posted, tag them, post their own parent comments, thread jack, tag around and generally have a grand old time! It should hopefully be a nice low-pressure way to do some action tagging with each other.

Please tag in if you feel so inclined! Don't be shy to tag around!]

[ She seems to be occupying herself with looking through the games. Certainly, there's nothing she's familiar with, but it's interesting to look at them! ]

Oh, I'm glad to hear that. He said that we should be friends, too. It's good to know that he's someone I could trust.

[She laughs a little, a catch under her breath. She doesn't recognize any of these things either...]

If you see a deck of cards, let me know.

Anyway - don't let him get away with being ridiculous. But actually, he's kind of sweet.

[ After a while, she starts checking in the boxes to see if the elusive cards might be in one of them.

One of the boxes has only dice, no game pieces. ]

At first...I wasn't sure what to think of him. Maybe it's only that I'm not used to people being so friendly.

[She smiles in a dumb fond way at the games in front of her without meaning to smile at them at all.]

I think he likes people. I think he's a little nervous about being in space too... he probably should have more friends.

[amarant]

Are you nervous, too?

[ She has located a pack of cards!

...wait, no, never mind. It's just the box. ]

If he wants, I can be his friend too.

I've been in space before... [Strange to talk about it. She goes quiet for a moment.] That was when I was in another world. Oh, this is stupid, it shouldn't be so hard to find cards!

Anyway, I'm sure if he said that, he'd like it.

[Even if he was maybe just saying that and didn't expect Emblica to really take it seriously. Well, those two can work that out.]

[amarant]

You're awfully brave, Miss Rin.

[ Sighs quietly as another box doesn't turn up much. ]

How so? - Let's go to the next shelves. [She's just quietly annoyed here, not at Emblica, but at the station.]

[amarant]

I think it's impressive to be so calm through all of this.

[ We will find cards! ]

[She pauses in place, and laughs again - just a little catch of breath. And then keeps moving.]

I guess I have a lot of experience.

[amarant]

It isn't always the amount of experience that matters.

[ She would know. ]

Well... I guess this is the kind of thing that you get used to, maybe. I've switched worlds a lot... this isn't such a bad situation to be in. [She picks up a likely looking box and shuffles it open... full of monopoly hat pieces. The look she gives it is quite perplexed.]

Who messed with all these?

[amarant]

I've traveled a lot, but comparing countries to worlds...I'd say that your experience is much...fuller.

[ ....fashion monopoly? ]

Whoever it is must have had a lot of free time.

[ Opens another box and......well, there's your deck of cards, Rin. About three or four decks worth, all unsorted. ]

[payback]

[She looks at it and... sighs.]

I'll take it.

[She starts scraping cards out of the box. Now to sort these...]

Anyway... I don't know about that. Sometimes I didn't see very much of the world at all... sometimes we were locked in, in just one building. But at least here we have food and I know some people...

[amarant]

Oh, are they the wrong kind?

[ She's never...actually seen a deck of cards like that. ]

...ah. If I've talked about something you feel uncomfortable with, I apologize.

[payback]

[She just shrugs.] Mostly it wasn't pleasant. I'm happy to be here now, with friends around, even if things might not be ideal.

Anyway, these will work I think... [Her face brightens. She prefers the topic of cards.] Now to pay for them I guess. [And she'll make her way toward the vendor.]

[amarant]

It's good that you can have that sort of outlook.

[ So adult, Rin. ]

Is that how you like to pass your time, then?

[payback]

With cards? [She glances at Emblica a little wide-eyed for a moment, just assessing and alert. The apertures open.] I guess so... I like games, and you can play a lot of them with cards. I like to do other things too, but these are a good start and they're cheap. [She's just practical.] Do you know any games?

[amarant]

Cards, or games. The only ones I know involve gambling, though.

So they wouldn't necessarily be "cheap."

[payback]

Mm... well, we could just play with points. That'd be not so exciting, but all right for the time being. Later on, maybe we could actually gamble for things.

[amarant]

Points will be fine, until we don't have to choose between proper food and entertainment.

[ She'll have to make sure to stick to games of pure chance, so that she doesn't feel like she has an unfair advantage. ]

It's better for our crews, that way.

[payback]

It'll still be fun. I love cards... [She smiles a little. She loves cards as said and has many nostalgic memories of playing games with friends and bonding via this game or that.]

What are you going to get?

[amarant]

It'll be nice to have something fun to look forward to.

[ Intimidating, somewhat, but nice. ]

--but, before we spend time together, could you please let me know some time in advance?

Oh? [She blinks, mild surprise crossing her face... but that's a pretty reasonable request, so after a moment she nods.]
