I must say the good folk of this stop are very kind - they have allowed my brother and I use of the mines and forges here in exchange for some trading. My brother and I are going to be working on some proper swords - if anyone else is inclined to a bladed weapon, we are happy to make you one as well.

Grandfather, Fingon, you needn't ask, but your help in the forges would be invaluable - Maedhros and I manage, of course, but neither of us are... what we were. And we have neither Father, nor Curvo, nor Tylepe here to point out everything we are doing wrong!

Lady Tempest, then. [ Maglor smiles ]

Have you an idea about the specifics of your weapons?

Just Tempest, please, there is no need for formalities. [she is no lady, after all]

I could describe the one that was taken from me when I arrived?

[ Maglor begs to differ ]

That would work. [ He agrees ] Or a simple sketch, if you could manage that. We would need to see you to get an idea of measurements, also, if you did not know those.

I could send a sketch, mm. That may work a bit better - and I have the measurements. [she taps the side of her head with a faint smile] The sword I had was made recently, so I still remember it.

Ah, then that is even more of a pity! To have a newly made gift taken! But I am sure we can work off a sketch, as well.

I would not call it a gift, per say, but yes . . . it was quite a pity. I really liked that sword.

Then I will have to hope that we can make you one it's equal!

[she quirks a smile and inclines her head politely]

I am certain that you will, cousin. I doubt you would offer you talents to the fleet like this were you not skilled at your craft.

I am not so good as my father or my brother and his son. [ Maglor shrugs shyly ]

But I remember the basics, and my brother Maedhros remembers as well, and he was always better than I in the forge. Hopefully it will serve.

I imagine it will. [a bit impishly] If it ends up being sharp and pointy, then it is fine.

[ That gains Tempest a bright laugh ]

That I am sure we can manage. But if you are wanting gold and jewels, we might have a harder time!

[she grins when she makes him laugh]

Goodness, no. I have no time for that.

[ Still chuckling ]

Well, I have seen blades made with elaborate hilts, but gold is a terrible material for a weapon unless tis meant to be for show only, so I am glad!

I have seen the same, but unless gold is what can kill a creature, such elaborateness is not necessary at all.

Agreed. [ He hums ] No reason a weapon cannot be both beautiful as well as functional, but gold is heavy, and more than gold leaf unbalances a blade, and gems if not carefully set are difficult to grip. Not terrible good for a weapon meant for war.

Mm, I agree completely. I have always preferred a simple blade to the more elaborate ones I have seen for sale; they can be just as beautiful without all of the other nonsense.

[ Oh, he likes her! ]

Even so! I hope what we can make will suit. Did you wish to come down and show us what you wanted?

[she will never get over how weird it is to get along with elves]

Certainly, if you wish. Where are you?

We are down on [insert mine world X here] - at the mining facility here. It should be easy enough to locate, as I think this is the main facility - certainly, it is the one the spaceport links to.

Ah - I've not been there. [she gives a nod] I will do a quick sketch and then come down to meet you? It should not take me long.

Certainly! I will be expecting you later then?

Certainly. I shall see you then.

I look forwards to it!

[she offers him a parting smile before ending the feed, and then goes in search of her notebook.

She's never been much for fancy things, so sketching out what her old sword looked like doesn't take her long at all. She even scribbles out the measurements before she hops a shuttle down to where Maglor directed her.

It dawns on her as she goes in search of the elf that she forgot to ask for his name]

[ She'll hear them before she sees them, Maglor's voice raised in clear song, keeping time for his brother and cousin with his voice - he's slipped away from words into sound, the thrumming heart of a forge fire, the strength of mountains, the clash of the hammer - it's all there in his song to hear.

He steps outside as she comes into view with a bucket - he's clearly headed to fetch water, and he smiles and bows, the song breaking off into a bright welcome ]

Tempest, I do believe? Well met! Maglor, at your servie.
