Wow. [Just trying to process all that.] You've been busy. You shouldn't have to run a bar. You should get unlimited drinks and naps.

[Snrk.] Believe me, what I do here is generally considered a vacation. Home has been more chaotic than any other place I've visited. It's just we don't generally have all powerful beings deciding to suddenly change the rules of the place every month.

Working at a bar does seem like one of the better jobs a person could have.

It's entertaining, and I do like a good drink. You get to meet a good cross-section of the Fleet this way, too.

I like that part too. I don't even mind doing it while sober. [He used to drink a lot more than he does now.]

Yeah? You much of a social drinker, then?

[Which is tactfully asking if he likes to get drunk, but eh.]

Yes, and I used to be very social.

Huh. Seems like the two of us have that in common, then!

It's still fun, but there are a lot of other fun things to do too. [And he doesn't need the distraction of it like he did back home.]

So what kind of other things do you deem fun?

Well, there's dancing and garata, but so far that hasn't been a thing here or on earth. It is similar to soccer, but you need dragons for it. But I like trying different sports.

[namisan]

Soccer with dragons. [Okay, then.]

...I guess at least dancing seems universal.

Don't knock garata until you try it. Not that you'll be able to try it. Oh, Winn also plays video games with me. I've been trying to get better so that I might actually beat him at one someday. What do you like doing?

Hey, you never know. {We go some weird places.]

Hmm... gardening. Sailing. Navigation. Cartography-- I've been drawing maps since I was tiny.

Socialising, partying, drinking. Shopping and fashion. That pretty much covers it.

Cartography? Really? Do you map the stars we go through? [He's more familiar with stellar cartography in general, but it applies in the fleet too.]

I do, actually! Though it doesn't really serve much function other than helping to improve my ability to chart them. The ship computers already have the charts for these areas-- I do what I can and then see if they match.

How's your accuracy?

Getting better all the time. My last couple of attempts have been pretty much spot on.

Sounds like you were destined for the stars. [Smiling at her.]

[Grin.] No offence, but I'd rather not be. I'm just smart and I love cartography and I saw it as a challenge. But give me the choice, I'll go straight back to the ocean.

So you're a big fan of the water world?

[namisan]

Not so much-- well, I like it. But a place with no coastlines, that's nothing but water, wears thin after a while.

You need the contrast? The challenge maybe?

[namisan]

The goalpost. Cartography and navigation is all about using your skillset to journey to a whole new place. If it's all ocean, there's nowhere to go. Though if we had coating technology, I guess I could sail a ship to all the places underneath the water instead.

You don't have any submergable vehicles on a world with that much water?
