Lance Hunter | OTA
Bloody hell, ever heard of a warning! [ can we say he's been magiced off to enough locations now?! goddammit! he has legs, let him use them!
once he gets the blasted confetti out of his hair - which, fortunately, isn't all that difficult - lance will proceed to explore his new surroundings. no unlocked door is safe! the armory and kitchen both get special attention from him. you bet your ass he's going to be packing heat from now on, and once he finds the real food supply, you may be lured into the kitchen by the tasty scent of stew. sorry, was he supposed to ask first? consider name labels next time. he's happy to share the finished product, though. only fair. ]

[ no, he is not the new cook. but he does cook. and after a week on the marsiva he needs some real food before he's off to explore the alien settlements. ]

That's hardly a high bar to clear. [ he takes a taste himself, and adds a little more salt. it's definitely better than better than flavored proteins, in his opinion. ]

[ really, he's surprised to find so many recognizable vegetables in space. ] Couldn't quite place the meat, though.
no subject
It's called ung. Looks kind of like a rabbit but without the fur. The meat's tough, but not bad fried. [And hopefully slow cooked in a sauce like that it will get tender?] And I can let you know where I bought things, but if you just arrived your funds will be low.

Vash is checking out one of the semi-automatic guns at the moment. He can already tell it's not there for him, but it doesn't mean he's not curious about it. He's even started taking the one he was looking at apart. Not trusting their hosts to get it right. Even though so far everything looks fine.]
Well, hello there! You must be one of our new crew! Or are you visiting someone? [He gives an honest and happy smile as he sets what he was doing aside. Most people aren't generally comfortable at a first meeting when the other has a gun in their hands. Even if that gun was currently missing parts.]
no subject
I must be. [ so no, he's not visiting. are you this cheerful about visitors visiting the armory? seems like a poor strategy, especially for someone who seems to know what he's doing around firearms. even if you're that good, allowing strangers to access your arms is just...stupid, to him. ]
I take it you're old crew. [ he's used to people handling weapons during first meetings, mercenary work would do that to you. but he definitely prefers it the other way. ]

Hunter. Lance Hunter. [ he gives a mock little half-hearted salute. yeah, he has no intention of following orders from anyone who hasn't earned it, sorry. ] Rather small village for multiple chiefs.
[ he just said no to one communal leadership, he's not about to accept another. things always get messy when you need a consensus to get things done. ]
no subject
Well, you're just lucky you missed the day my ship thought it would be a great idea to run head first into another ship to make one big happy space ship. How did they become one and not into several hundred pieces, you ask?
[He shrugs.] No idea! But I can tell you that is why there's still two captains.
no subject
...lucky me. [ this place just keeps getting weirder and weirder, isn't it? ] Do we have any explanation for anything? [ because that would be new and refreshing. ]
no subject
Uhhhh... ratings? Apparently dangerous and drama filled events make them go way, way up. Or at least that's what I'm told. Didn't have television where I'm from.

You have confetti on the back of your collar, sir.
[Don't mind the nice Japanese lady in the kimono. She's just being helpful.]

Can't fault a zealous celebration of my arrival. [ there's an air of dryness in his tone, but it's not entirely clear whether or not he actually means it. he reaches back to try and shake it loose ] Did I get it?
no subject
I shall assume by such decoration that you've only just arrived today. Welcome to the ship.
no subject
[ he tries to get rid of that final persistent piece. oh blast it! he takes his shirt off and picks it off, before putting it back on. ]
There we are - [ there's a little self-satisfied smile as he tosses the confetti in the bin. as for what fell on the floor, well, it lives there now. ]
I take it you've been here a while.
no subject
A year now. More, I think. I have to admit I lost track some time ago.
My name is Otono-Tachibana Makie. The tactical officer, according to the Atroma.

fitz hangs back a little at first. it suddenly occurs to him how strange it all is, to be meeting someone for the first time who he apparently has history with. he knows the idea of it and all, has talked about it before (hell, he talked about it with hunter), but now to be faced with it is something else entirely. this must be how amnesia patients feel.
it's awkward and a little uncomfortable ]
Well, it smells like I didn't miss out on the food, at least.
no subject
he's aware of the presence approaching him the moment fitz's feet bring him into the hallway, but he doesn't turn. he has his gun on him, there are plenty of occupants on this ship, he's expecting fitz and the soup really could use a good stir about now. he's alert, but he doesn't let it show, not wanting to make fitz feel any unnecessary unease, should it prove to be him.
right now, the quirky scientist is all the backup he has.
when he speaks at last, hunter turns to grin at him. ]
No, you made it right before the stampede, well done. Here - [ he dips his spoon into the soup and brings it back up full of orange goodness ] try this - careful, it's hot.
no subject
fitz approaches hunter as he looks around the kitchen. honestly, that's mostly so he doesn't stare at his new acquaintance in an attempt to figure out how they might end up as friends in the future. yes, he's gotten details here and there but it's just... odd.
he leans in to first smell the soup (it smells really good) and then tentatively takes a taste of it. and then his eyes go a little wide with mild surprise ]
This is actually really good.
[ he's not surprised that the food actually tastes good, nothing like that. it's more like the fact that it's real food. yes, he's had real food since getting here but still ]
How was your time aboard the Marsiva? Were there many with you?
[ he didn't exactly spend much time there himself before getting assigned to the bishop.
it's funny. all the talking they did about shield and the like over the devices when hunter first got there, suddenly he feels like he has to work up to it now that he's actually face to face with the man ]
no subject
[ he turns off the heat and covers the pot while he gets the mushroom sorted on the...wheat solid. not as good as toast, but still not half bad. ]
Dull. And - full of weirdos. There was a girl with the pinkest hair I've ever seen and an expression that's something straight out of a horror movie - a fella in full armor and I don't mean SHIELD standard issue - he's around here somewhere if you want a look - he was looking for ladders to get out of a spaceship, so I wouldn't get to attached - a suspiciously nervous kid rambling on about things that would seem crazy before I joined up and well - ended up in space - and another strange girl. It was a looong week, speaking of, don't think I've forgotten that beer you promised me.
