i know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. N-Z names comment here, and A-M names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

There's still quite a bit left, even so... [Still, the other items on the table catch Zelda's eye, sitting there incongruously with the food.] Ochako, what are these other things?
[She reaches out to touch the odd helmet as she speaks.]

[Ochako turns to face her, mouth open to answer, but then everything shifts; the beach becomes a tiny apartment, little more than a room at the end of a hallway with a washroom attached. Ochako sits at a desk, holding a pencil and tracing idly over a body-shaped figure on the page. She's adding clothes and small details to the body, one of which is a very rough version of the helmet that had triggered this memory. Beside her is a phone, lit to indicate it's in use. On the screen is a picture of the smiling faces of a man and woman, probably in their 30s or 40s.
"I think the helmet's too plain..."
A male voices pipes up from the device. "Might look better if ya add some colour, kiddo? Somethin' ta make it pop."
"...Mm... but that goes in the note part of the assignment, not the sketch... let's see... oh!" Ochako doodles something else, leaning back once she's done. "Handles! I added handles! When I'm using my Quirk I can't always have my hands free to carry someone, so-"
"Ahaha, just have 'em latch onto your back, huh? That's my girl!"
"Hee hee..."
They chatter back and forth a bit more, discussing shape, detail, and a little about pressure points, though neither seem especially knowledgeable in that subject. Eventually though Ochako glances over at a ticking clock and gasps. "Ah, Dad, the time! I kept you up so late!"
The man just laughs. "Aww, hon, don't you worry none. I was glad ta help you out a bit. Yer gonna send ma and me a picture once you get it, right?"
"Uh-huh... that's a promise. Thanks for all your help..."
"Of course! Never a problem. Ya know, everybody misses ya here, but we know yer workin' your buns off out there, so make sure to get some rest, got it?"
Ochako is quiet for a moment, then reaches out to lift the phone, holding it closer, up to her ear, her eyes closing. "Yeah... I got it. An' I miss you too. Love you, Daddy."
The phone goes silent, and Ochako sits like that for a little while, hugging it to her chest. This place, this memory- it carries with it the feeling of love. Love, and loneliness. It's quiet and empty yet full of dreams.
is it for them? is it for me?
it's for us.]

Some of the alarm creeps out of her when she sees Ochako seated at her desk, and she softens when she realises that the girl must be speaking to her father. The conversation seems odd - what does 'quirk' mean? - and the importance of the helmet is a little lost on her. What is clear though is the easy affection between the two. It sparks some faint longing in her; a longing for an feeling she never really had, with her own father.
She nearly reaches out to touch Ochako's shoulder in comfort when the call ends, moved by her loneliness. She seemed so happy, when they met at the party. She hopes she gets to see her father again soon.]
'For us'... yes. I believe it is.

...Sounds like... you get it.

You and your father seem to get along quite well.
no subject
Yeah! It's always been like that. I think Daddy knows me better than anyone else... he's always encouraged me to follow my dreams, and to try my hardest.

[Zelda hadn't been one of them, not truly. She would escape her studies when possible to engage in research of her own, but she made sure to be done with her royal tutelage first.]
I think he sounded proud all the same.

[She's still a bit sheepish, but she's grateful, too. She knows how lucky she is to have such loving and supportive parents.]
