So for you our "normal" are exotic pets. [Makes sense, he supposes. His looking around makes him notice of something else, too.] Is it usual for such different advancement in neighbor towns too?

Preeeetty much. [It's so weird. ] The Southern Water Tribe is a unique case. We've been disconnected from the rest of the world since the war started.

[padadin]

[Ah, right, Sokka did mention a war some time ago. Another young boy caught it - of all the things that repeat across universes, why does that have to be one?]

While isolation doesn't sound good, I can see how being far way from the war could be safer for your people. [He wonders if the Galra are ever going to reach Earth, and quickly sends that thought to the back of his mind.] The town still looks flourishing.

...It didn't fare all that well. They only left us alone once they thought all our Waterbenders were gone. Before then, they would make raids on the villages, take away any Waterbender they could find.

[padadin]

[...oh. That's just-- ugh. Just like the Galra. Shiro doesn't waste time, his human hand moves to rest on Sokka's shoulder, giving it a squeeze. What else can you say other than--?]

I'm sorry about your people, Sokka.

[He gives a weak smile, oh there is a worse part to that, but he keeps it to himself for now.]

Yeah...well. The war's won now. My people can finally rebuild. Grow again. There have already been new Waterbenders being born in the South. It's not all lost.

[padadin]

[That smile breaks his heart. He answers with a nod, his hand squeezing again.]

You're right, it's not all lost. I've seen it with the planets we've saved from the Galra. It's hard and painful, but there's always time to start over.

[alwayscomeback]

Hm. We just have to take the time to get there. It'll take years, but it might be okay one day.

[At least they can't get worse. He hopes. ]

[padadin]

It will be okay one day. [Encouraging bro is encouraging! He makes a gesture indicating the difference between both villages.] This proves it, right?

I guess. I've never been too great with the optimism thing. It's deeply cynical all the way with me.
