i know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. N-Z names comment here, and A-M names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

Sokka...? Hey.
no subject
Oh, hey, Nami! You found Katara's necklace.

Yeah. It was our mother's. It's pretty important to her.
no subject
[Well, that... probably doesn't bode well for the continued living of his mother. But she doesn't ask that question.] And she's pretty important to you, too. She was on the Fleet for a while, wasn't she?
no subject
She was. But she's better off back home...assuming that's where she really is.
no subject
If she ever comes back, you'll have to introduce us.
no subject
I will, promise. She'd probably like you.
no subject
...annnd I guess you can't tell me how to navigate this place, can you?

Wandering around it is. I'll try not to get too invasive, okay?
[SHE HATES THESE PLACES DX
But yes, maybe it's time to look for things to investigate that don't scream deep dark secret, for... as easy as that can be. Hah. She give Sokka an apologetic smile and retreats back the way she came.]

[Once there, she can head to the small village, or the bustling city. ]
no subject
She heads back to the village, and this time goes for the helmet.]

The memory swirls around you. You are young, but you are ready for war. You have already painted your face with the traditional war paint, and you heft a pack that is almost the size of you towards the gathered fleet of ships. You are determined that you will make a difference. A man stops his loading of a boat to walk over.
"Sokka," he sighs.
"I'm coming with you," you reply.
"You're not old enough to go to war, Sokka," the man responds, firm, but gentle. "You know that."
"I'm strong," you shift the pack in your hands, stopping it from slipping. "I'm brave. I can fight! Please, Dad?"
Your father puts a hand on your shoulder, comforting, firm.
"Being a man is knowing where you're needed the most," he says. "And for you right now, that's here protecting your sister."
"I don't understand," you're fighting back tears, don't cry, be strong.
"Someday, you will."
You drop your pack, hugging him tightly, wishing he wouldn't go but knowing he has to.
"I'm gonna miss you so much," your father says quietly, and this time, you allow the tears to flow.
And with that, the memory fades, bringing Nami back to the village.

Figures it doesn't matter, either way. She remembers Sokka talking about war before this. Nami wonders how many more years it was before he joined it himself.
Assuming nothing else has changed, she'll eye the glowing iceberg warily-- and go for the circle of stones instead.]
no subject
The stones have fresh flowers near them, resting on the centre stone. This is clearly a grave, one recently visited, too. When Nami gets near, the memory comes on.]
The memory flickers and swirls around you. First, there is a woman, though her face is...blurred. There's a feeling of love around her though. Of bitter-sweetness. The memory becomes more solid and you and a little girl are having a snowball fight in the village, laughing and having a good time. That is, until ash starts to fall from the sky. Black snow. You and the little girl look up at it, concern on your features. Even at your young ages, you know exactly what that means.
"I'm going to find mom," she says, running off towards your family tent.
You run the other way, looking for your father. For the other men. To protect the village. Huge metal ships come crashing into the ice near the village, men leaping out, fire coming from their hands. You know what this is, you've seen it, all your people have seen it. It's why your village, your tribe is so small now. It's a raid.
You watch the warriors of the tribe battle, and when one of the raiders gets thrown into the snowdrift you're next to, you slam a snowball down on his head. It's not much, but to you, it is a little victory. A stand. You hop over him, picking up a bladed boomerang on the snow. Your father's.
...The raiders suddenly leave. It's strange. You're used to them rounding up people, taking them away. But they have no one. They just...go. You feel relief. Confusion, yes, but for the most part relief. Which turns into a heavy feeling of guilt- as the memory fades away without any more explanation.

And this is a grave. So they came to kill someone. Not the little girl-- from the other memory, she thinks that's probably Katara, and she knows Katara grew to be older. But. Going to find mom.
She hopes she's wrong. But someone they cared about sure died that day. Why raiders would arrive and single out a person, she doesn't know.
Either way, it is a grave, so she bows her head to it, pays her respect. Doesn't matter if it's a dream/memory grave, does it?]

Eventually, a door appears, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, she's finally found an exit, if she so wishes to use it. ]
