i know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
( for N-Z characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. N-Z names comment here, and A-M names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

[He's not sure what he would have done if he'd lost his father, too. He smiles, though it's a little faint. ]
I'm not taking it as one. It's good advice, solid.

What? God... I'm sorry. That's... yeah, that's tough, when it goes that far. That's not just fear that's full on mob mentality. At that point, I would suggest knocking some sense into them, your sister too. It doesn't help if the leading family is divided.
[ He shook his head. ]
I wish I had more answers for you, but this is just one of those things that people have to work out for themselves. But I can guarantee you this - if you don't figure it out, you will get left behind and ground beneath the feet of the North or anyone else. It's a harsh reality, but a very real one.

[They need to be able to find togetherness in this, or they'll be swallowed whole. ]
Especially with that oil there. We could have been left alone, but not now. And I don't think we should be. We need to take our place in the world, just like the others. It's bad enough the Air Nomads are gone, we need to be able to keep the South going, too.

[ Kirk shook his head. ]
No. I sincerely doubt you would have been left alone. For a little bit at least, but eventually? Eventually the advancements would come, the pressure. Staying isolated is difficult, and it will harm you in the end. Better that you try and at least get a toe hold on the world stage now.
[ He knew it might not be exactly what Sokka wanted to hear, but it was a truth he knew from his own world and on many others. ]
You're doing the right thing, Sokka. Eventually your people will see that.

[She'll get there, eventually, he hopes. ]
Thanks, I'm just trying to do what's best for them.
