If you should actually need of me, I promise you my loyalty is without question.

There's an important corollary. Who decides that I actually need you, you or me?

Well, in cases of living and fighting in space, I will concede to your better judgement, most of the time.

It's the part of the time that's not most of the time that I worry about.

Not even my Master got my backing all of the time. [He pretty much consistently breaks the Beast's rules. The dumb ones.] Blind loyalty is as unwise as complete rebellion.

What about earned absolute loyalty?

[ She believes in that very strongly. ]

Even earned loyalty does not mean you should follow someone's orders without question. You can be loyal to someone and still disagree with them.

I've always asked for loyalty from my crew. I don't intend to start making exceptions.

And what do you intend to do to avoid these exceptions?

[ She crosses her arms, looks at him. ]

Perhaps we can agree on a set of circumstances where you'd defer to me. If it's not life or death, I'm a lot more willing to hear backtalk.

[He considers that. He's pretty fighty when it comes to RULES and the like, but he can try to meet her half-way. ]

...That would be fine, oui Perfectly reasonable.

[ Good. ]

I'll even allow that you can ask for a reevaluation of a situation, if you don't agree with me that it's a life-or-death matter.

[That gets a rueful chuckle in response. ]

Very considerate of you, mon capitaine, I will take you up on that offer. [He says that like he wouldn't do it anyway, if she allowed him to or not.] And so, we should find a way out of this memory room of yours, no? Unless there is anything else you would like me to see?

I don't think there's anything else you need to see.

[ Signy isn't a woman who needs to be understood. ]

[He smiles and gives a little bow. ]

I can take a hit when it is dropped. [Not really.] I'll be on my way. I'll see you when we wake?

As long as it all works out that way.

[ They'll see what happens, she supposes. ]
