Who: Everyone
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Lato'li's orbit and also planetside.
When: Forward dated to 11/15.
[The Interceptor Fleet moves into position, waiting for the last few shield generators to fall. And in the early hours of the 15th, they do. The shield dissolves with a blip as if it was never there, leaving the man-eaters as prone as their prey. The Interceptors send out a transmission-- an unholy mix of Cockney and Australian that graces every available communicator-- if they answer it.]
We’re firin’! Do yer worst, Vieziri! We’re gonna kick yer sorry arses so hard you’ll kiss the moons!
[Five Interceptor ships swoop out of the dark and unload their various weaponry onto the Vieziri warships. At the same time, people stranded on the planet below ready the anti-aircraft guns onto their makers. And of course there is the Fleet itself, battered and yet beautiful across the velvet sky, as they fire everything they have.
Now the Vieziri start moving. Though the big red ship can’t do much maneuvering, the rest of the Vieziri warships certainly can. They fire back at the Interceptors and whoever else fires at them, willing to defend their leader and lose their lives in the process.
Luckily, the Interceptors have their own daring ships, which may look familiar to those who were here for the raider attack. One is emblazoned with racing stripes and flames all along the hull, and it moves so fast it nearly enters hyperspace. It’s there and gone in a flash, weaving past the enemy in crazy thrillseeking loops. Still another Interceptor ship is painted red and orange with a gold plate near the front, which reads BAMF with no explanation. This one has guns aplenty and easily weathers any duel it gets into. The third Interceptor ship is beautiful gold and black, sleek as hell and engineered with sense; this one packs the most gadgets and formidable guns of all calibers, and appears to do the most damage. Trailing behind is a much smaller ship, so nondescript it almost doesn’t stand out at all-- that is, until it forms a barrier to absorb some oncoming fire and reflect it back at the Vieziri.
There’s one ship that’s missing, though-- the one that was blown up several months ago after the heist. In its place is a small black ship that runs invisible to radar, sweeping past with silent speed as it lets loose a barrage of photon missiles onto the Vieziri flagship.
Down below, the Vieziri come out in full force-- one last stand before the warlord falls, trying to finish their fell rituals. Some of them rush the encampments, some go for the cities. Near the restored comms tower, a cloaked figure with a plain white mask fights their way through the onslaught using a plasma blade and a laser rifle.
After an hours-long siege, the big warship finally takes too much fire and breaks apart, lighting up the sky with falling shards like stars. The biggest debris burns up in orbit, but little pieces still rain down. It signals the end as the Vieziri begin to retreat both on ground and in the air. The loss of their leadership leaves them scattered and panicked.
The Fleet has won the day, but as the sun rises again over the wreckage, there is still plenty of work to be done.]
[ooc: Feel free to assume the Interceptors are helping your ships! The gold and black ship can be hailed and will give responses, as she’s been the main point of contact during this plot. You can also run into Zhade, though tags will be slow for both accounting for RL things. Please mark Zhade or Interceptors in the header of your toplevel if you’d like NPC interaction.
Any questions should be asked on the plot post for phase two.]

He lowers his bow for now, looping it around his shoulders. He gives Zevran a look, cocking his head in some vague direction. ] Think you could scout the area real fast, Zev? I'd offer to come with you, but I think I'm about to have my hands full.
[ Literally? because, unless someone stops him, he's going to try and pick Leilani up and off the ground in the hopes that will keep her from trying to do something stupid. ]

[A simple answer as he steps into the shadows where they seem to bend and twist around him until he can not be seen. He keeps his makeshift weapons in his hands, just in case. His steps are careful and quiet and he goes further and further away from them. And then he sees them, rustling leaves from the trees and bushes, and one hunter all on his own.
He freezes in his place and when the Vieziri is close enough, he wraps his arm around it's face to cover it's mouth with his arm as his blade pulls across it's neck. Black blood pours from the slit and he quickly pushes the body into a patch of heavy brush. He gives it a hasty pat down and takes anything he thinks they might need before he makes a speedy retreat.]
We have company.

[ Leilani's face twists a little - because she knows just how honest she has to be, especially when these people have come here to help her. The awkwardness she feels makes her stomach feel as though it's knotting up, and she has to take a few short, deep breaths before she's actually able to talk. Riona has a point; it's hurting, and she has to fight through it.
Shifting a little, she makes to try and get up, ignoring Riona trying to get her to stop moving. ]
I let them kidnap me. If I could find where they brought people I would be able to get people to help, and it worked.
[ But, oh, suddenly she's being lifted into Rowan's arms and she blinks, her cheeks heating just a little. Her hand is throbbing, but she lets herself relax, just enough that she can lean into him. The only thing that stops her from being completely relaxed is Zevran calling for them, and then she's wiggling, scrambling to be let down and drop out of Rowan's arms so she can grab a weapon and get moving. ]
We can't let them take the survivors. Let me get my machete -

You let them - are you bloody -
[The makings of The Look are starting to form, and there's a lecture incoming. Oh no. She's gone into Mom Friend mode. But before she can, two things happen that actually manage to stop both things dead in their tracks. One, Leilani's lifted up and Riona blinks in surprise. Well okay then. That's fine. She'll just stand up and resume-
And that's when thing number two happens, the one that's considerably more alarming. She snaps around in the direction Zevran's at. Shit.]
Andraste's tits. I thought we'd have more time. [Sword and shield out, she heads over towards Zevran, eyeing the treeline.] Leilani's got a point. We need to get any survivors out of here, too. I can try holding them off while someone gets the survivors out.

I'm fairly certain you count among the survivors here. We can fend off the cannibals, but there's no way I'm letting you run headfirst into danger when you can barely stand. You're far too pretty to die.

[The threat of danger is momentary forgotten as he smiles at Leilani and sends her a knowing wink. He looks over to the tree line as Riona shifts into defense mode. They would be here soon, they were running out of time. The blade on his uninjured side twirls in his hand for a moment before he turns back to Rowan and nods towards where they came from.]
Take her to safety, I shall stay with Riona and find who I can.
[Before Rowan can even argue he is gone into the shadows.]

I didn't need a second plan. This one worked.
[ But she doesn't need to be on her feet to be a bit of trouble for the Vieziri. Shifting in Rowan's arms, she ignores the pain in her hand and focusses what little magic she has left to build an ice wall between themselves and the attackers, hoping that Zevran isn't going to find it too troublesome to work around. Then she can't quite help the way she slumps into Rowan's arms, more tired than she was trying to let on. ]
I'm not too pretty to be useful. I still have my magic and my Anchor.

[Just putting up that ice wall seems to have taken a lot out of Leilani. Riona's been around and fought with mages for long enough to know the signs of low mana. While she understand Leilani wants to help, she's done more than enough, and needs to rest.]
This is nothing Zevran and I can't handle. Get to safety, both of you. We'll catch up soon.
[And there she goes, zooming off after Zevran into the forest. So far it's quiet, but as she runs, she sees an animal running in the opposite direction, seemingly in a hurry. Something else chased it towards her.]
I think they're coming.

He spins on his heel, facing Riona as he starts backing up and way from her, away from the incoming Vieziri and the ice wall. ] You don't go getting stabbed either, you hear me? We don't have Wynne here to patch everyone up.
[ And with that he trots off, precious elf bundle in tow as he starts trying to round up any survivors nearby. He has no idea where 'safety' might be, but with any luck they can find part of a downed ship or something to hide in. ]
I have a feeling you're going to get an earful about this from a lot of people. [ He jokes as he starts weaving through the trees, trying to put some distance between them and any Vieziri nearby. ] Any idea where to go from here? I'd rather not get lost.
no subject
Nothing we can't handle.
[He gives her a smile as he repeats her words back to her in reassurance. He's never seen her fight, but he is sure that she doesn't just carry that shield and blade for show.]
I have your back.
[Just as he says that, the war cries of the hunters could he heard as 4 of them rush out from the jungle, leaping at them with machetes up. Zevran wastes little time in springing into action. With both daggers raised above his head he bounds into the air and on top of a hunter, his blade sinking into his chest and throat.]

Wrinkling her nose, she presses her face into Rowan's shoulder, a little awkwardly but mostly successful. Breathing out, she tilts her head up to speak. ]
It wouldn't be the first time that people have scolded be for my actions. I don't imagine it will be the last, either.
[ Still, she turns her head back, arms lifting to wrap around Rowan's shoulders, before she peeks around to see what advice she can offer or give. ]
They brought me from the south. There's a crashed fleet ship near there that I was helping to defend.

Riona brings up her shield, hunkering down as one of them brings down their machete on top of her. It clashes against her shield, metal scraping on metal as they break free of each other. She goes for a shield pummel, knocking the Vieziri back before jabbing her sword and going for the kill. He left himself wide open. What an amateur.
When she glances over, Zevran's already taken one guy down. She smiles a little, unable to help but feel nostalgic. It's been too long since she fought at his side. But all the lovely reminiscing can come later. Another one's starting to charge at her.]
no subject
I know how that goes.
[ He hefts her up a little, adjusting accordingly so he can continue to carry her as he carefully navigates through the forests. Any sound nearby has him stopping, waiting, seeing what will happen and if he has to try and fight in his current situation. Last thing they need is to be ambushed. ]
Great. [ A beat. ] Where is south from here? [ a true hero. ]
